Emma’s POV
I didn’t know my parents had history with Smith. They were best of friends.
“Was he always shady?” I asked. “No” was the response. My dad explained that they met in Winster High School and became friends.
“What about Collete?” I asked. I could see the feeling of pain and helplessness weigh down on my dad.
“She died years ago, 19 years ago to be precise.”
“But I don’t understand why Smith will do that to Melissa’s son.”
“There have always been disparity between them my dad explained. Melissa always feel like she was better than Smith. That became worst after Smith dropped out of college.”
“Do you know why he dropped out of college?” I asked. My dad shrugged.

“She used to be Albert’s girlfriend?” I asked about Kate. Emma nodded.
