Katarina's Vendetta

Katarina’s POV

A scream tore through my throat as my eyes trailed down to my bloody body.

My blurry eyes shone out in terror as I stared dangerously at the blood-stained down from his body to the bed, almost streaming to where I lay. I couldn't help but scream again as I realized what today was, and instantly hands reached for my mouth, covering it to avoid more cries from coming out as I kept staring at him for heaven knows I didn't know the face of the man laying beside me in the pool of his blood.

I was in total shock. My numb right hand left my mouth and stretched to where he was, but I pulled it back with force, my heart racing rapidly.

How did a stranger end up laying beside me on the bed I was to share with the man I was to marry in a few yours?

If I could remember, I had my bridal night out with my friends last night, we had fun in the club and I was helped back to the room by my drunk friends, so why were things looking entirely different from what it was meant to be?

How could I possibly wake up and find myself staring at a dead man I'd never set my eyes on before, how?

A few seconds ago, I had the sweetest smile on my face, today was the day I’d get married to Axel… I had imagined it to be a fairy tale wedding, the most beautiful and pleasant wedding, until I shifted on my bed and saw the strange scenery.

What the hell had gone wrong? I kept thinking while I tried to blink my eyes to see if I was in reality or if it was all just a dream. I hoped it was, but no, it wasn't! I was fully awake!

I gulped down some saliva stuck in my throat, thinking of what to do since I was lost. Not only that, but I couldn't grasp what was happening or how I was feeling because I wouldn't have thought I could end up waking to something as horrific as this.

Just while I was thinking of what to do, I heard footsteps and my eyes shifted away from the dead to the door, but before I could make a move, the door to the room was pushed open, and then the River Brothers entered one after the other. At that point, I knew I was in large trouble.

“What’s going on here?” Axel thundered, staring at the scene in shock.

“I don’t know,” I heard myself say, staring at him still shook, “I really don’t know Axel, what’s going on?” I said to no one.

“You are one hell of a bitch” I heard Connor say, “you have a dead man laying beside your naked body and the only thing that you can come up with is you don’t know what is going in?” Maxwell added in a voice laced with venom.

My eyes were focused on the only person I hoped would see through my truth, Axel…my mate and the man I was to marry.

He was crouched down with his head i his hands. Being the eldest of his quadruplets brothers, he had to say here and Not Amy of his brothers, they all hated me and couldn’t even hide it.

“Axel” Alex, the closest to Axel and my best friend called out, holding my gaze… “What do we do?”

“TAKE AWAY THIS SLUT!”

Without letting me argue, I was jerked up by his brothers, and it hit me what order he had passed.

“Axel! I didn’t do it…believe me!” I screamed as I was dragged away. Whispers were already dancing in the pack house.

What is happening? Today was supposed to be my day, my wedding day!

“I didn’t do it” I sobbed, but they weren’t listening, they wanted me gone, the look in Maxwells and Connors eyes screamed anger and hatred.

“I didn’t do it Axel, I love you” I sobbed as hard as I screamed.

“Let me go, Axel” I kept on screaming, ignoring the way my legs were starting to ache.

As we approached where I’d be judged, my protest increased making me struggle more but nevertheless I knew what my fate would be, especially now Axel wasn’t beside me assuring me that everything would be alright.

My mate… don’t believe me, I don’t even believe me. With all the evidence of what had likely happened, no one in their right senses would believe that indeed I had nothing to, so it’s that man.

The most logical explanation would be that I had a one-night stand a night to my wedding and had killed him to shut him up.

I was thrown on the ground and helped to be tied to the stick… I would be judged naked and on my wedding day.

Axel suddenly came into my view and As he held my gaze, I searched for the love those eyes had shown me for months now, but I didn’t see it anymore.

Whispers began phasing around, j heard their words…they knew what had happened and no one was on my side…not even my Mate.

Everything blurred out as I held his gaze as k explained what I had remembered, but I knew I was just wasting my time, they didn’t believe me, not for a bit.

Te missing part of my memory was the only thing that could save me, but tag was also missing, and I knew what was coming, seeing the look in Axel’s eyes, I accepted it… Death.

The Crowe we had attracted suddenly began passing on chants of Kill her, stone her, slut, Luna murderer.

Connor and his brother kept in, whispering how they wanted to end me, how much of a bitch I was by thinking that I had a chance with their brother.

Axel suddenly stood up, “Today was meant to be my wedding day to a woman j had thought to be good enough to be your Luna, but the goddess had helped to correct my perspective of my supposed Luna and mate”

“Entering the room to give my ex bride, a goodbye from single life kiss, I caught her in bed with my guard but not only had she slept with him, but she also ended him”.

“My heart is in chaos, but the pack comes first” he added, stating at me in my eyes, making me shiver in fear.

In a slow, steady and predator form movement, he began walking towards me, “To prove to you that indeed I will be the Alpha you had wanted me to be. A man more fierce fan my father”.

He stopped in my front, still holding my gaze, “I’ll end her myself” I gasped as considerable beads of tears dropped.

The man in my front was not my mate, he was the Alpha, his people longed for… An alpha, he’s willing to let go of his mate to be a man of his people.

“Any last words…mate!” he said, making sure to spit the last word out with venom.

“Kiss me” I said, shedding tears in pain.

He smirked, “you are still a desperate slut”.

He leaves in, and I whispered as his lips touched mine, “I am being framed Axel”

“I know” he whispered, “how?”

“I did it, Rest well baby girl” he said before staring in my eyes and I felt it…the pain from the sharp blade piercing my skin and his betrayal.

“Why would you do this to me?” I asked him as my life slowly slipped away from me, and before I could hear his response, I feel into a pool of darkness.
