I had the entire castle and surrounding areas searching for Charlie, but there was no luck. It was as if she had just disappeared into thin air. As the sun began to rise, I continued to search the grounds for my mate, seeing if I could catch any scent that seemed unfamiliar. Steel was going berserk, whining and howling giving me a constant headache without Charlie.
“She’ll come back,” I continued to repeat in my head to him, but I wasn't sure who I was trying to convince anymore.
After what felt like hours, I decided to head back to the castle. When I walked in the door no one would look at me, which made me angry. I've already lost my mate, and now they are treating me like this?
“What’s going on?” I asked, spotting my mother talking to someone by the front door. “Mother?”
“Mother?” I asked again angerly, as she turned her head before moving to the side to revea
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒The day of my coronation loomed over me. It had been a week since my Charlie had been gone and the pain only seemed to get worse. Steel had disappeared completely, ignoring me again due to the heartache of losing our mate. He insulted me to no end before becoming completely silent, but I couldn’t really blame him. How could I let her be kidnapped? I failed her as a mate.Griffen had been out with the men, searching relentlessly. He kept me updated, but I could tell he was becoming frustrated at her being gone too. They seemed to have a connection between them as well, which warmed my heart but also broke it at the same time. He missed her too, and I could tell he was frustrated every day he came back searching for her.My mother had taken it upon herself to arrange the Coronation. She had me at suit fittings, dress rehersals, food tasting. She was acting as if I was getting married, which made me sick. Although any male would have gone
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒Leo's POVEveryone watched my mate carry Nina’s body out of the house with horror, but all I could feel was shock. She had become so strong. She even pushed me out of the way, which was a complete shock. No one is as strong as the Alpha, so it was a surprise that she could even move me. Seeing her after a week made me realize just how much she was mine. I called Charlie’s name, but when her eyes met mine, the red and gold, I realized that it was not just Charlie anymore. There was something different lurking beneath those multicolored depths.I tried to follow my mate, but she was so fast. I couldn’t keep up, even with my Alpha speed. Griffen and Oliver were standing in the doorway watching as if they were stunned at the sight of Charlie. I followed the trail of blood that she had left across the pavement, following them into the forest until it just abruptly stopped. I was standing in the middle of the dar
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒ “It’s been three days, Leo. You need to bring her to a doctor,” my mother said, entering our bedroom. “What I need is for you to leave me and my mate alone. She needs her rest,” I snapped back at my mother. “You have a kingdom to run!” she said, before I interrupted her. I've never seen my mother angry at me, but I could tell she was losing her patience with me. Being her only child, and my father wanting to retire, I could see that it was putting a strain on her. “No, what I have is a mate who I need to care for right now. Dad can run the kingdom for a little longer,” I said, getting more frustrated. She was extremely ancy since hearing of Nina's death, and me ignoring the coronation, but I couldn't care less. All that mattered was that I had the rightful Queen with me to rule by my side. Instead of leaving the room, my mother stretched out her hand to give me a letter. I looked at her in confusion but took the letter any
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒It was late into the morning when my mother wandered into the room, followed by an ancy looking Griffen.“Oh good, you’re awake!” she said, rushing to my bedside.“How long have I been asleep for?” I asked, trying to understand why she seemed so relieved.“About a week,” Griffen said, “We kept you sedated, so the shift wouldn’t be as painful for you.”“Shift? What shift?” I said as my eyebrows furrowed, thinking back to Alistars words.“You were bitten and marked by a Vampire. You went through the shift a human would have to become one of them. We have reason to believe that the King Vampire has marked you,” my mother said, drawing small circles on my hand that rested on my lap. “I’m so so sorry. I'm the one who got you into this mess.”“So, what does this mean?” I said, bringing my hand up to my now a
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒His voice was strong, as it sent a burning desire rushing through me. I couldn’t help but clench my thighs together, trying to feel some sort of relief. Although I was still in a little bit of shock, having Leo here instantly made me forget about those feelings.“You need to be reminded who you belong to, my dear Charlie,” he said, lunging towards me. The fire between my legs was burning out of control when his hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me towards him.“I didn’t do anything wrong,” I whimpered, “Why am I in trouble?”“Because you seem to have forgotten where you belong,” he said as he slammed his lips on mine. I was still wearing the hospital gown, that was hanging lazily over my shoulders. He pulled me against his chest, with an urgency that I have never felt from him before. The fire in between my legs ached for relief, as his hands slowly pulled the gow
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒“Charlie, hey Charlie” a husky voice cooed. Soft kisses were being spread across my face, over my eyelids, my forehead and cheeks. From the fireworks that were forming across my skin, I knew that it was Leo.I let out an unappreciated groan, trying to snuggle deeper into the bed as I tried to fight off the kisses that bombarded me. The blankets were ripped away from my body, as I felt a cold breeze tickle my skin. I annoyingly opened my eyes to see a smug looking Leo standing over me, fully dressed and ready to go for the day.“Wake up, Charlie.”I let out another groan as I looked towards the alarm clock. “It’s 5:00 in the morning, Leo.”“I know,” he said as he shrugged his shoulders. “Now get up and get dressed.”I sighed, trying to suppress the yawns that littered my brain. I groggily made my way to the closet and searched for something comfy. I found o
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒We made our way to a couple of different spots that day, and like he promised he kissed me at every single one. We found ourselves in a field of blooming summer flowers. Paths of light lavenders, baby pinks and yellows surrounded us as he placed a light kiss on my lips. The next was a glorious peak, leading me around a trail that surrounded a roaring waterfall as it cascaded down beside us. The sun shown through the tall trees, making small rainbows across the sky. That kiss lingered longer then the meadows, almost deeper. At the end of the small trail beside the waterfall there came a clearing that looked like someone had made a picnic.Leo sat down and patted the seat next to me. I made my way over, positioning myself so I was looking deeply into his eyes. We stared at each other for a few moments before a soft breeze swept around us. Leo’s eyes hooded over, as the soft humming radiated from his chest, just like before.&ldquo
☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒☾⭒“I want you to try and shift,” Leo said, as his eyes left a trail of heat down my exposed body.“But, with the vampire presence I don’t know if I can…” I said, but before I could finish my sentence, I could feel Faleece roaring to life inside me. She had become restless for some time now, especially when she had found Pandora lurking throughout her space.“Faleece would love that,” I quickly said, eating my previous words, “She will love that very much.”“Since you’ve only half shifted, it may still hurt,” Leo frowned, “But I can try to ease your pain.”I closed my eyes instinctively and called Faleece to the forefront of my mind. I could feel Pandora right beside her, as if they had joined forces. They had seemed to find blissful solace in being connected, and I could feel their warmth spread throughout my body, as their presence intertw
