I found myself walking down a dark stairwell.
I came into an abandoned garden and entered a cave. I immediately stopped in my tracks when I saw the source of the attraction. There before me, lay a girl that looks exactly like me, seemingly dead. She was dressed in white silk, almost the same design with the one I wore when I got washed up here. "Wow! You indeed look exactly like me." I heard a voice say. I looked towards the voice and gasped. The girl was standing there with a cute smile. However, her body looked semi transparent. "Who are you?" I asked, looking cautiously at her. "I'm princess Erica Miller, daughter of Alpha king Harvey Miller, of the ice flame territories. Wow, what's your name?" She asked. "Rona," I whispered. "Our names have almost the same meaning. Please help me to resurrect. I have been calling for help to no avail. The only one that could hear me was you, because we share a connection. If you help me, I will give your wolf my ice crystal, to stabilize its condition. I will also leave in peace. I can see you like that monster, Richard. I will leave quietly and let you continue living as Erica. I entered this cave to escape, but I was attacked by an evil energy. My spirit left my body. I tried everything to re-enter my body to no avail. There's a thin film of ice, spiritually blocking me from joining my body. Please help me dear. We share the same origin source, meaning we're two halves of the same whole that was born to different mothers. You will not regret it" she pleaded, with tears in her eyes. I felt skeptical listening to her words. Can I trust Erica's spirit? What if after helping her she raises alarm, and exposes me as an imposter? "I know you probably don't believe me, but I know what it feels like to be betrayed by people you trust. Ever since I failed to shift, I tasted the other side of life, where even my father's slaves treated me worse than trash, and looked down on me. Worse, my beloved brother, Aiden began to avoid me. Bam! They want to send me to that monster's house. Just help me, ok? I can see you have a hot flame that can help my wolf awaken. I also have a cold aura and ice jade stone that can stabilize your wolf" she quickly added. "What do I do?" I asked her. "Gently send streams of your pure wolf fire into my body. It will melt the spiritual ice" she said eagerly. I squatted down and began to do it, when I felt my wolf viciously take control of my consciousness, without permission I gasped as she began to search Erica's body instead of helping her, frightening me. She began to take the treasures on Erica and even the pendant on her neck which looked like a heirloom. "What the hell are you doing? That pendant is from my mother. You can take everything else except it. You're hurting my body instead of helping me! You're burning me alive!" She screamed in horror, while I struggled to take back control of my body. "Wait! You're not the one in control of your body. Don't you know your wolf is a blood wolf?. It is evil. It will take over your consciousness and eliminate your existence. You need my presence to tame it!" She shouted desperately. I was shocked and hurriedly tried to force my wolf back. I collapsed to the floor as I took back control from my wolf. I quickly stood up and faced her body. I gasped, my wolf had burnt her to ashes. I turned and saw her spirit crying profusely. "My mom is dead. I promised her to live" she said, crying. At once, I remembered my own mother, making tears come to my eyes. "I'm so sorry, I didn't know Ara would do that" I whispered, shaking. "I know. Can I share your body?" Her ghost whispered, making me confused. Before I could ask her what she meant she turned into a streak of light and flew into my body. I shook and quickly looked around. I packed the treasures she left, my hands shaking with horror. "Voke her ashes into that bottle" my wolf ordered, not feeling remorseful. I angrily obeyed her and ran up to the room. Tears ran down my cheeks. I just killed Erica, the true alpha princess. ***** The next two days passed by in a blur. Ara kept telling me that killing Erica was the right thing. 'She was not sincere. She was going to sell you out. Have you forgotten your previous experience?' Ara asked, pissed off with me. However, I couldn't bring myself to believe her, and locked her away. I don't think Erica was lying. Was that the reason my parents kept locking out my wolf despite its enormous power? A wolf that is not obedient will only cause more harm than good, she might even get me killed. My head kept feeling woozy and disordered, as if three existences were battling for supremacy in my head, but one was obviously stronger. The hotter one was stronger than the colder two. My body felt disordered and I wondered what kind of change was going on in my body. I wore Erica's pendant and packed the treasures I got from her with the ones I came with. "Princess Erica, one of your fiance's borders was under attack. So, you would be sent to his castle. He can't pick you up but he promised to meet you in his castle the moment you arrive" Annalise said with a smile, looking all excited as if she was getting married instead. I picked up my satchel, while she adjusted my heavy bride's head gear and helped me down. My clothes were already sent on their way. I saw two men dressed expensively, in the midst of other officials. I guess they were the brother and father that neglected Erica. I frowned at them and the father smiled, looking pleased with himself. "He will treat you well. Make sure you serve him with humility. Any mistake you make will lead him to punish us. Represent us well" he said, and patted my shoulders. I pretended not to hear and continued on my way. I saw three strange animals with carriages affixed to them. There were soldiers dressed grandly around it. "Wow! This is the first time I will be riding on a heavenly beast. Your husband sure is the richest king alive. He even sent three heavenly beasts to pick you up. They're so fast. What a horse will cover in ten days, they cover it in less than a day" Annalise said excitedly as we walked into the middle carriage. She was the only maid coming with me. "The other two were filled with dowry which your husband gave your dad. They offloaded it while you were being dressed" she chatted away. The interior of the carriage looked like a massive room with bed, sofas, wine and fruits. What a display of grandeur. I felt the carriage move at blindening speed, and I immediately felt sick at the speed. But I soon stopped feeling the movement. Annalise grabbed my hands, holding me with a smile. "Do not be afraid. I will always protect you" she whispered, her eyes full of promises. I gave her a smile as my heart felt warm, for the first time in months. Soon, I lay down on the bed and slept off while she kept watch. "We're here. Your fiancee is already waiting before the carriage. Hurry up" Annalise said, hurriedly trying to make me look presentable. I stood up elegantly and walked to the door of the carriage. A man's hand immediately reached out and set me down on my feet, his familar scent making me giddy with excitement. I looked up with a smile and immediately staggered, the joyful smile on my face evaporated. He was wearing exactly the same clothes, armor, and mask the man who killed my father and destroyed us wore that day. No it was the same man, I was sure of it now. I gasped again as I stared at him in horror, refusing to believe that my new crush is actually my monstrous enemy. He hurriedly removed his mask, noticing the change in my expression. "Do not be afraid. It's me, Richard, your husband. This is my war apparel. I just came back from the war front. I didn't have time to change" he said, with a warm, bright smile. However, the infatuation and love I felt for him had already disappeared. Unlike the day he saved me from being raped, I don't find him attractive now. No wonder they kept addressing him as the richest and most powerful king in the world! The man I just married in Erica's name, my handsome prince charming, is none other than the Royal wolf emperor, Richard Ferguson, the monster that killed my family, and burnt my pack to ashes.RONA'S POVI purposely chose the carriage without walls, just a tent above to shield me from the sun. I could have walked, but I chose to experience the feeling of being Richard's woman. They had brought the sedan chair which would have been an amazing experience since I never got to sit on one, unlike Olivia that literally moved everywhere in them, even when the distance was a bit far. But perhaps, now that there was no other bodyguard or male servants in her palace, she would learn to trek. No matter how much I longed to experience that luxury, I wouldn't dare to give in. Maintaining my perfect kind image was a must, I must not be seen being carried on a sedan while the porters carrying me trek under the sun, but with the carriage, it looked luxurious and comfortable without being arrogant. “My lady, are you sure you prefer this carriage? The sedan chair would be more comfortable.” A guard said, earning him a smile from me. “The health of the people carrying the sedan chairs also
RONA'S POVI was in my room, sulking. I still felt angry because Richard refused to promise me not to take another woman after me. He and his cabinet must have had plans of bringing another woman who was better suited to be his wife and bear his children. A famous alpha female, a strong woman. Not a fugitive like me, hiding my demons beneath the mask of a weak princess. Move me to the empress's room my ass. Why should I move there when I would be demoted and asked to move back when he gets a better bed warmer? I would rather not go at all than endure the pains of being a laughingstock. Rather than get demoted after some time, it's better not to be promoted in the first place. Worse, he might kick me to the harem palace where I had initially been meant to live. His mother lived in the harem palace till her death. The luxurious harem palace was one of the most luxurious places in the imperial city, with more than thirty quarters, all with their own gardens, pavilions, and pools. It wa
The slave girl stood up, taking a menacing step towards me. And I moved back, feeling afraid for the first time in my life. “All that she said isn't true, she must be saying that to get to me.” I muttered, trying to calm my pounding heart. But even the excuse sounded shallow to me. No slave would dare lie about a royal’s ancestry. Even if it was in name only. “You're nothing, just a slave like us. The only difference is that the emperor gave you a gilded castle to hide the rottenness of your heart because he thought you were sweet and innocent. But you know what? He has discovered that you're a despicable fraud! You're on the verge of being kicked back to your original place. Yet you still think you have the luxury of throwing your weight around. Pathetic.”I saw red at that point and my blood began to boil with liquid fire. All around, people who had gathered were pointing at me, giggling, their mocking whispers seeping into my ears. I felt an invisible hand choking me, and I foun
OLIVIA'S POVThis was the first day I was stepping out of my room after that bitch made Richard punish me. I noticed the weird looks I received from servants, and I could see them covering their mouths and whispering. Their low giggles and side glances made it obvious that they were gossiping about me. Probably mocking me for getting punished and losing lots of privileges. I clenched my fists, my eyes as cold as ice, forcing myself to keep going instead of reminding them of who the boss was. I didn't have any guard with me at the moment, and if I encountered a crazy one, I might get attacked. Although they would get punished afterwards, the damage would have already been done. It was all that slutty bitch's fault. She made me fall to this level where these filthy commoners, less than the dirt beneath my feet, dared to look at me with anything other than total reverence, fear and respect. If I don't teach her a painful lesson, I will never be reconciled. I should have killed her the
RONA'S POVRichard's face looked tired when I opened my eyes, his back hunched. He was nodding off by my bedside, trying to stay awake and failing. But rather than be happy because of his gaunt, haggard look, I felt my heart aching. And an emotion which vaguely resembled guilt and sadness arose in my heart. I had intentionally hanged myself when I heard him at the door. It was a risky gamble. I could have completely died if he didn't get to me on time. But I did it anyway, because I was that kind of beast that could even chop off my own arm if I needed to when caught in a desperate situation. But perhaps, deep down, I knew that Richard wouldn't let me die. He always protected me, that I was sure of. I trusted him to save me, and that made it even worse, and I couldn't help but feel like a traitor. Maybe my heart was thawing, my cold ruthless heart was being forced to know guilt because of the relentless love he had shown me. How perfect would it have been if I were truly Erica, an
CONRAD'S POVI heard the sound of soft laughter when I opened the door to the dungeon. The air didn't seem anything like someone got tortured in there. Liam and Henry looked at me, surprise evident in their expressions. There was an empty basket of food before them. But Liam was looking messed up. He didn't even seem this haggard during the times we spent at the battle field. Rather than the injuries, I think he was suffering more from the emotional turmoil, anger and disappointment. His white inner shirt was torn in places with bloody whip marks lacing his entire body. His fingers which Richard crushed were currently wrapped with bandages and his face looked pale. Even while sitting, his posture was gaunt, and the smile didn't reach his eyes. How could it have? The disappointment he must be feeling now would definitely be overwhelming. “Ah? Conrad, shouldn't you be with your Lord? Why are you here? Aren't you afraid of being punished once he discovers you disobeyed his orders and
