Ava's POV

I opened my eyes again, and I was back to my childhood bedroom.

“What am I doing here? Is this heaven?” I muttered to myself.

I stood up from the bed and quickly ran to the mirror. I stared at my reflection. I touched my face and I gasped a little. I went back four years in time.

“I have been reborn.” I let out a laugh in disbelief. “I have been reborn.” I said a little louder.

I smiled and made my way downstairs still in my pyjamas. When I got to the dining room, I paused.

My parents. They didn't notice me but they were seated there. My mother laughed at something my father said and an emotion rose up my throat.

They tried to warm me in my past life but I was so blinded by my love for Luca I ignored them.

I shook off the thought and announced my presence.

“Good morning, mummy. Good morning, daddy.”

My dad looked up from the book he was reading.”Ava, my princess. Good morning. How was your sleep.” My dad greeted me with a smile.

My mother just smiled at me. Lilian Sinclair is the strict one. She literally questions everything I do. Claiming Mother knows best. And…..and she was right. We fell off in my past life because of Luca but never again.

“Good morning, Ava.” She answered in a clipped tone. She then continued, “Your father and myself have put your words into consideration.” She let out a sigh. “You can marry Luca.”

“No!” I said a little too quickly. My parents were taken aback.

“No? Ava what stunt are you pulling again? You can marry him. It's what's you've always wan—”

“I don't want to marry him again, mummy.” I said, interrupting her mid sentence.

“Did you two have a fight?” My father asked, his gaze lingering on me.

I shook my head. “No. I just realized you both are right. You know what's best for me.”

“Ava, you threatened to run away with him if we didn't let you marry him. You said that you'd ki—”

“Mum. I'm serious. I don't want to marry him anymore. He….” I considered telling them he cheated but I know my parents, they'll make sure he pays so I just let it go. “We aren't compatible.”

My father nodded in understanding. “Alright then. Let's eat.”

As the chef brought the food, we dug into it. As we were eating, I was reminiscing about my past life and all the details I might have missed. Then it hit me.

“Can I marry Damien Moretti instead.” My mother dropped her fork in frustration. “ I knew you weren't done with this Luc—. Wait! Damien Moretti?” She said, slightly taken aback.”

My father was still eating, not bothering to look up at me.

“ Dad, you did mention that I have been betrothed to him from birth. Our grandfather did that, right?”

He finally looked at me. “Ava, that was a deal two old men made without thinking about it. Besides, no one takes it seriously. You both are allowed to live your life however you want.”

“But dad, you mentioned something about taking it up some months ago.”

“Ava…..” he sighed in defeat. *I'll see what I can do about it.”

I smiled.” Thank you, daddy.”

And we went back to our food. I could see my mother throwing me a glance from across the table and I welcomed it. I had stressed them a lot in my past life. Threatening them to accept Luca or I'll kill myself. I was so stupid, I let out a little laugh.

My mother looked up. “Everything okay?”

I nodded. “Yes ma'am.”

After breakfast, I went back to my room. I laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling. I am really back. Back to when it all started. I was still thinking when I heard a knock and the door opened.

“Hello, bestie.” I grimaced. Mira.

I sat up and looked at her. I remember she came exactly this way the last time too and was celebrating with me because my parents finally allowed me to marry Luca.

I didn't say anything, I just looked at her, studying her. She continued talking. “Well, now that you're getting married to Luca, what do you plan on doing? The dress, the cake. Oh, I'm so excited about everything.” She looked so excited like she was the one getting married.

“I'm not marrying Luca.” I said.

She stopped mid sentence. Then, she continued.

“Wait! Your parents aren't allowing you to marry him. Did you threaten them? How could that be? You love Luca, right? You should fight for him.” She kept saying leaving no room for me to answer her multiple questions.”

“Mira, I'm not marrying Luca because that's what I want. I don't want to marry him. In fact, I'm going to break up with him now.”

She stood there, frozen as I picked up my phone from where I left it to charge. And I saw it “lulubooboo” I winced at how I saved his name. But, I dialed it anyway.

The phone rang for a couple of seconds and he picked it up at the fourth ring.

“Hey baby.” He said as soon as he answered the phone. His voice, almost covered by the noise in the background.

“I'm breaking up with you. It's over between us.” I heard Mira gasp. “ Bye.” I said into the phone not giving any room to reply. I hung up and deleted his number.

Mira, seeming to gain her mind back, rushed towards me. “What is wrong with you? Why would you do that?” She exclaimed, trying to take my phone from my hand.

“Mira, I don't understand why you're so concerned about my relationship. Is it any of your business if I decide to break up with my boyfriend?” She froze and then put on that pitiful look.

“I am only helping you. You wan—”

“Did I ask for your help?” I cut her off immediately.

“Please worry about yourself.”

“Ava, you are losing a great man. Luca is a good person. He works hard. You know his background. Are you breaking up with him because he is not rich enough? He is trying his best.”

“You can have him then. Since he is such a good person you can have him. You both deserve each other.” I said the last part in irritation.

Mira's eyes flashed with something I can't quite name. Then she grabbed her bag and stormed out.

Ava’s POV “Love you too, Mum,” I murmured, a soft smile touching my lips as I listened to her soothing voice. She was reassuring me, telling me I’d made the right choice and marriage can be hard sometimes, and that she was proud of how I was handling everything. "And don't you worry about that big house, darling," she chuckled. "You'll make it a home in no time. I’ll send over some of your favorite books and those little ceramic birds you love, to brighten the place up." Home. It was beautiful but utterly devoid of personality. The thought of making it mine was simple and it filled me with a quiet resolve. I really need to get those scented candles too. I thought to myself. This wasn't just about surviving or reliving a life. This was about thriving, about carving out my own space, my own identity, within this marriage. This is now my sanctuary, and I'll make the best use of it. I pulled out my laptop and opened my email. The children’s hospital. My true passion. I had

Damien’s POV Ava was not what I expected. I had done my research on her long before our wedding. Background checks, social patterns, relationships, everything was laid out neatly in a file on my desk. A month before we got married, she had been in a relationship. A serious one, according to the reports. It was obvious they were pretty into each other. But I don't know what broke them up. I had assumed she would still be emotionally attached to him, or even resentful, or at the very least distant. I had thought she was forced into the marriage. But, she acted like he was never in the picture. She was the only child so, I had expected her to be the usual spoiled heiress. The predictable kind. The type who will enjoy the title and the luxury that came with marriage, who understood the rules and stayed neatly within the lines drawn for her. Instead, Ava was nothing like that. She laughed easily, she touched me without hesitation, and when she spoke to me, she looked me dir

I kept sneaking glances at Damien from the corner of my eye.He looked relaxed, his head resting against the seat with his eyes closed. He had a calm expression.“Do you need something?” he asked suddenly, without opening his eyes.I smiled to myself.“Is it bad if I check my husband out?” I teased. His eyes flew open immediately. For a split second, surprise crossed his face before he masked it. He stared straight ahead. He didn’t answer. Instead, he took a slow, deep breath and closed his eyes again. The moment we got into the suite, Damien headed straight for the bathroom. Loosening his tie as he went. I watched him disappear behind the door and I grinned to myself.Last night hadn’t gone according to plan thanks to the very unfortunate interruption, but tonight, I'm ready to strike again.I slipped into the second bathroom, showered quickly, and changed into another

I finally snapped back to my senses and shoved him outside the door. “Get out.” I said to him, He laughed as he stumbled outside the room door. “You have got a smoke show. Lucky bastard.” He mumered, chuckling just as I shut the door in his face. When I turned back around, Ava was gone. “Ava?” I called out to her. “Please, leave me alone, I'd like to bury myself.” I heard her say from the bedroom in a mortified voice. “It's okay.” I said keeping my voice calm. “I thought you'd be asleep. Jake just wanted to pick up a contract. She groaned from the other side of the door. “You should have told me you were bringing someone.” “I'm sorry.” I said softly. There was a pause. I placed my hand on the bedroom doorknob. Just as I was about to turn it, her voice rang out. “Can…..can you not come in?” She asked. “Alright.” I walked back to the living area and p

Ava's POV Ever since we got on the plane, Damien hadn’t looked up from his laptop. He had been typing away on it for the last hour I glanced at him again for probably the fiftieth time this afternoon and returned my gaze to the window. Looking as the cloud drifted around us. It was calming.I looked back at Damien and bit back a laugh. I'd never dealt with a cold person before, but I guess there is a first time for everything.I decided to make small talk.“So, how is your laptop doing? Is it coming with us?” I asked, leaning slightly toward him.He didn’t look up. “It’s a business trip, not a honeymoon.”My mouth dropped open. I blinked rapidly. “What?!” I blurted. shocked“Wait… what do you mean it’s a business trip?” He finally looked up with those cool, unreadable eyes meeting mine. “I have meetings in Lake Como. So you can explore the resort. My assistant booked you a spa package.”My jaw dropped a little. “What the hell do you even mean?”His head tilted, clearly confused by m
