Nicholas’s POV

As soon as I arrived at the office, my steps felt heavy but had to remain steady. The receptionist immediately stood up and greeted me, but I just nodded briefly, too focused on the list of problems piling up in my mind. Some employees looked surprised to see me, probably because they knew I had just come out of the hospital. But there was no time to explain or offer reassuring smiles. I had been away from my position for too long, and today, I had to regain control.

Upon entering my office, my secretary immediately approached me with a stack of documents and a serious expression.

“Mr. Nicholas, the entire management team is waiting in the meeting room. And… here’s the latest financial report you requested yesterday,” she said quickly.

I nodded and took the documents while continuing to walk. “Okay, prepare the projector. We’ll start the meeting in five minutes.”

As I entered the meeting room, all eyes were immediately on me. There w

Hazel's POVMy steps felt heavy as I left the room. Every sound of my shoes echoing on the hospital floor resonated louder in my head than in the empty corridor. It felt like every step was taking me further away from something that should have been mine—my own child.Charlie.I paused for a moment in front of the door, feeling the cold wall behind me. In my heart, I knew this decision was for the best, but the sense of loss was so painful. The sound of my heartbeat clashed with the silence, creating a melody of infinite sorrow.I looked back at the door. Behind it were all the memories, all the laughter and tears we had shared. The little things—his favorite stuffed animal, the bright-colored blanket, and the drawings he made—all lay neatly waiting to be taken back. But I couldn’t."I'm sorry, Charlie," I whispered, tears beginning to flow. There was no answer, only a silence that touched me. As if the world didn’t care about my pain.

Nicholas’s POV We fell silent, with only the sound of the coffee machine occasionally breaking the stillness. The awkwardness between us felt increasingly real, but I knew we needed to talk about this.“I will talk to my lawyer. We’ll find the best way forward… not just for you, or for Sabrina, but for Charlie,” I said firmly. “Because one thing is certain, Hazel, I won’t let my child get hurt again.”She lifted her face, her eyes filled with hope and fear. “I understand. I don’t want Charlie caught in the middle of our conflict.”“Exactly,” I replied. “We need to prioritize him. He has to know that we both love him, even if we don’t always agree.”Hazel nodded, looking more at ease. “I’m willing to do anything for him. If that means working with you, I will do it.”“Good,” I said, feeling progress being made. “We need to come up with a plan. Meeting with the lawyer is the first step. We need to ensure that the decisions made are the

Nicholas’s POV I looked at Sabrina and Charlie, who were now sleeping in the hospital bed. Their faces looked calm, peaceful… as if the world outside no longer mattered. Charlie leaned against Sabrina’s chest, while Sabrina held his small body tightly, as if she never wanted to let him go for even a second.I smiled faintly, feeling warmth in my heart. Slowly, I got up from the chair, trying not to disturb that beautiful moment. Seeing them like this gave me hope amid the chaos we were facing.I surveyed the surrounding room, the beeping of medical machines providing a soothing background. This was a place full of uncertainty, but here, among the three of us, there was love that strengthened us.“Charlie, you will be okay,” I whispered softly, even though he couldn’t hear me. “We will always protect you.”I looked at the large window reflecting the moonlight. I walked slowly, trying to calm my racing thoughts. At the end of the

Sabrina’s POV The hospital corridor felt so long and quiet, even though we were walking briskly. Nicholas and I almost ran after the receptionist told us that Charlie had been moved to the VIP room on the third floor. My heart felt as if it was being squeezed tighter with every second. I just wanted to see him… hear him… ensure for myself that my child was okay.As the elevator doors opened, we quickly stepped toward the room mentioned. My breath was uneven, my chest filled with a mix of anger and anxiety. Nicholas held my hand tightly, giving me the strength I desperately needed. When we opened the door to the room, Hazel was immediately visible, standing nervously by the bedside. I froze. I wanted to unleash the anger I had been holding back. But before I had a chance to speak...“Mom...” His voice. Soft. Tired. But so familiar to my ears. Charlie. My heart felt like it was collapsing. All emotions surged in one wave. I rushed to t

Sabrina’s POV Finally, the call ended without an answer. Nicholas set his phone down, and I could see the anger and frustration on his face.Maybe I shouldn’t have just handed Charlie over yesterday, even though I admit I was too tired. I stared at Nicholas’s phone screen with bated breath. Then, on the fifth call, I finally heard a click, the connection was made.“Hazel?” Nicholas called quickly. There was a brief silence on the other end, then I heard Hazel’s voice, nervous and anxious. “Nicholas...” “Where are you?” Nicholas's tone began to rise, firm and demanding. “I... I’m at the hospital,” Hazel replied softly, as if afraid to answer. I immediately stood up from my seat, my body stiff. The hospital? My eyes widened in worry as I looked at Nicholas. “At the hospital?” Nicholas repeated, his voice getting louder. “Why? Who is sick? Charlie?!” I gripped the chair’s armrest, trembling, hoping Hazel would say ev

Sabrina’s POV The morning that had felt warm and calming suddenly turned tense when my phone rang. I saw Charlie's school name displayed on the screen. My forehead furrowed. It was unusual for them to call this early."Hello, good morning. This is Sabrina, what’s going on?" I greeted softly, trying to stay calm."Good morning, Ms. Sabrina. We just wanted to ask if Charlie is sick or if there's another reason he hasn't come to school today? Because he hasn't arrived, and we haven't received any permission notes."I was stunned. "He hasn't arrived?" I repeated, confused. "But... he’s with his mother, Hazel. She said she would take Charlie to school this morning."On the other end, I heard a confused voice. "Oh, I see... We just wanted to make sure. Thank you, ma'am.""Alright, I’ll try to contact Hazel directly."I ended the call with my heart racing. My hand still gripped the phone as Nicholas approached with a worried e

Sabrina’s POV Nicholas gently stroked my back. “I miss mornings like this. Just being able to see you up close without rushing to the office, without any distractions.”I looked up and kissed his cheek. “Then let’s make this morning special. Want to have breakfast in bed?”He raised an eyebrow, teasing. “You’re cooking?” I pretended to pout. “If I cook, you’ll take even longer to recover.” We laughed together, and then Nicholas pulled me into a warmer embrace. No words could replace the comfort of being in his arms. Even though his body wasn’t as strong as before, that embrace was still the safest place for me.This morning was simple, but full of love. And for a moment, we forgot that out there, there was still a battle we had to face. Because right now, what mattered most was just us and the love that never faded, no matter how fierce the storm.I knew that as long as we had each other, we could get through anything. Nicho

Sabrina’s POV Finally, we arrived home. I turned off the engine and quickly got out to open his car door. Nicholas smiled faintly as I supported his arm to help him down. “Thank you, darling,” he said softly. I simply nodded and kissed his temple. “Now your only task is to rest.” He chuckled softly, “And what’s your task?” I looked into his eyes. “To take care of you. Just like you always take care of me.” And we entered the house, bringing with us the hope that this storm would gradually pass, as long as we walked together. As soon as we entered, I guided Nicholas to the sofa. He looked tired but kept smiling, as if trying to hide the pain that still haunted him. I knew his body language well—the way he sat down slowly, held his side for a moment, and took a deep breath carefully.I crouched in front of him, took off his shoes, and then looked into his eyes gently. “You must need some sleep. Do you want me to help you to th
