Chapter 31

“From now on, you’re coming with me everywhere I go.”

I stopped in my tracks when Aiden let out those words. My eyes slowly moved up to his, only to be met with a stern gaze. His expression was one of dominance. He stood there, seemingly confident and at ease, as if waiting for me to accept his request. It was hard for me to not be overwhelmed by the moment; this formidable man before me.

I feel myself looking downwards towards the ground, a habit of mine when I sense that someone is watching me. Especially when it's someone like Aiden. He usually has this intense gaze which makes me feel exposed, as if he can see right through to my soul. It's one of those involuntary reactions; I just look away and take a deep breath in order to try and compose myself. Even though I'm not sure what it is that Aiden looks for in my eyes, I can't still look at him straight in the eyes.

“A-are you going to leave now?” I asked him, making sure I composed the right sentence.

“Tomorrow.”
