Chapter 1: She Resembles Her the Most

Author: Balebajiao
"Helena..."

"Helena..."

"Helena, Helena..."

In moments of passion and confusion, Morgan Byron always liked to call out all her names—her pet name, her formal name, and the special one he gave her just for her.

And there was a particular order in which these names were called.

At the very last moment of joy, he would whisper softly into her ear, "Helena, my Helena."

"Mm." Every sound had its echo, every sentence its reply.

Juliet Wagner, with her long, slender arms, hooked around his neck and slowly opened her eyes. "Brother, I'm here."

She could feel the man's trembling, and as his hot, soft lips pressed against hers, a salty tear seeped into her mouth.

As the passion faded, his body cooled from scorching to normal, and then he rolled off Juliet Wagner and walked into the bathroom.

The sound of running water filled the air. Juliet Wagner picked up a robe from the floor and draped it over herself, then walked to the balcony and casually grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the coffee table.

But she could only take one out and smell it; she couldn't smoke yet.

She could only smoke after Morgan Byron left.

Because his Helena didn't smoke.

The cold winter wind howled past her ears, instantly cooling the lingering heat in her body.

The bathroom door opened, and she quickly put down the cigarette and went back inside.

When she helped him dress with her icy hands, he looked down at her, satisfied.

He liked her this way.

Because his Helena, who had suffered from a blood disorder since childhood, always had cold fingers.

She struggled to button his slippery shirt with her stiff, frozen fingers, finally managing to fasten them.

Then, she found his tie and stood on tiptoe to help him put it on.

Finally, she leaned softly against the doorframe, watching him leave.

His Helena always liked to lean against something, as if she had no bones.

Although Morgan Byron's gaze no longer held any emotion.

He was already awake, but she was still in the act.

Just as he stepped out the door, he suddenly stopped and called her name.

"Juliet Wagner."

She knew her part for today was over and immediately straightened up, responding obediently, "Mr. Byron, I'm here."

He handed her his phone and showed her a picture.

In the photo was a young girl. Seeing the familiar face, Juliet Wagner suddenly felt like she was waking from a dream.

Oh, it had been three years. It was time for a change.

His Helena had passed away at eighteen, so these stand-ins couldn't grow up either.

Yes, there were more than just Juliet Wagner as stand-ins.

For example, Emma's nose resembled Helena's, Ada's mouth was exactly like Helena's, Lisa's figure was very similar to Helena's, and even Sandra, who was always sick, was a leukemia patient. It was said that when she was on life support, Morgan Byron would stand outside the ICU window all night, watching over her.

Once she woke up and gradually recovered, he would disappear immediately.

Because Lisa later received a bone marrow transplant and would eventually recover.

But Helena wouldn't.

She forever remained in the summer of her eighteenth year.

In Morgan Byron's heart.

After carefully examining the photo, Juliet Wagner gave her evaluation, "This is the girl who looks most like her."

"I think so too," Morgan Byron said, his brows relaxing and a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Like an ice sculpture that never melted, now showing signs of thawing in the spring breeze.

"Mr. Byron, what do you need me to do?" She handed the phone back to him with both hands.

"Tell them all to go. You know them best, so you can handle it." He handed her a checkbook. "The stamps are already on, they can fill in the amounts themselves."

"Alright." She accepted it gladly.

As one of the stand-ins, the only difference between her and the others was that she also had another role: Morgan Byron's personal secretary.

During the day, she was the meticulous and efficient Ms Wagner.

At night, she was his Helena.

After the mess created by Senior Mr. Byron, Juliet Wagner and Morgan Byron had to work overtime for several months to stabilize the situation at Guannan.Despite her growing belly, Juliet Wagner's work was completely unaffected. On the last day of their overtime, Morgan Byron held her hand."Tomorrow, you don't have to come in.""Am I being fired so soon?""No, you always say you're tired. How could I possibly overwork you?"Morgan Byron withdrew his hand, and Juliet Wagner suddenly felt something in her palm. She opened her hand and found a ring inside.Juliet Wagner was momentarily stunned, not quite reacting at first."We got our marriage certificate rather suddenly, and I don't think I've given you a wedding ring yet.""When you pulled my hand just now, it scared me." Juliet Wagner examined the ring: "It's a beautiful design, and the diamond is quite large. But isn't it a bit sad that I have to put on my own wedding ring?"Juliet Wagner extended her hand to Morgan Byron,

The phone on the table suddenly rang, but Morgan Byron didn't even glance at it. Ruo Du reminded him."Your phone is ringing. It shouldn't be your mother, right?""Ignore it. No one important is calling me now.""You make it sound like if I call you in the future, you'll say the same thing?" Ruo Du glanced at the phone and recognized that it was a call from Mr. Byrong, a high-ranking executive at the company."Mr. Byrong is calling. Aren't you going to answer it?""I have nothing to do with Guannan anymore. Why should I answer it?""Is there something urgent at the company?""Whatever happens at the company has nothing to do with us. You're pregnant, so don't worry so much."Ruo Du couldn't force him to answer, but when Mr. Byrong's calls kept coming, it was clear something urgent was happening. She picked up the call, and Mr. Byrong sounded very anxious."Ms. Du, is Mr. Byron there?""He is here." Ruo Du looked down at Morgan Byron, who was squatting in front of her, massagi

Senior Mrs. Byron looked at Morgan Byron with despair. After staring at him for a moment, she knew that this was the greatest concession he could make. But Morgan Byron was right; what power did he have to change a case that had already been judged?Tears streaming down her face, Senior Mrs. Byron wiped her eyes and grabbed Morgan Byron's hand."Morgan, Mom begs you, please find someone reliable to take good care of Morton. He has never suffered in his life, and he really can't handle hardship."Morgan Byron fixed his gaze on the hand that Senior Mrs. Byron held onto his sleeve. "If you say one more word, I'll take back what I just said."No amount of pleading could match the weight of those words. Senior Mrs. Byron reluctantly pulled her hand back. She opened her mouth, wanting to give one last instruction, but the sharp look in Morgan Byron's eyes made her close it again.Just as Morgan Byron was about to close the door, Senior Mrs. Byron suddenly whispered, "Congratulations,

"After all, even if it's nothing serious, we should still go to the hospital," Juliet Wagner said as they walked out of the restaurant."Then just wait and agree to her terms.""Or I could go check on her without letting her know. Once I confirm she's fine, I’ll come back.""What's a pregnant woman always doing at the hospital? She's taking advantage of your kindness to manipulate you."They reached the car, and Morgan Byron opened the door.Du Du was still hesitating: "Really, just ignore it?""You’re not the Buddha who saves all beings.""I never said I was saving all beings, but I'm afraid that if something happens to Senior Mrs. Byron, you’ll regret it later.""Regret is my business, not yours.""Morgan Byron, we are husband and wife now. You need to understand that your problems are my problems too."Morgan Byron's hand rested on the top of the car door: "Take care of yourself first."Juliet Wagner had no choice but to get in the car, but she felt that Senior Mrs. Byron

Juliet Wagner sat down at her seat, watching the two figures leaving through the floor-to-ceiling window, and couldn't help but sigh."This meal is really expensive. A hotpot would usually cost just a few hundred, but now it feels like we should have gone for abalone, sea cucumber, and shark fin instead.""As long as you're happy, don't worry about the cost-effectiveness.""I'm not happy. Spending so much on a hotpot.""If you look at it from another perspective.""Like what?""Even if a hotpot costs a few hundred, it's worth spending more to make you happy."Juliet Wagner rested her cheek in one hand, staring intently at Morgan Byron. Her gaze made him feel a bit uneasy."What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?""No, nothing, but your words were as beautiful as flowers just now.""Order some dishes." After walking out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Juliet Wagner couldn't help but ask Morgan Byron."Why did you come?""Didn't I just explain it?"Juliet Wagner pointed at her belly. "Because of him? But you don't seem like a very responsible person."Morgan Byron was amused by her. "Should I be angry?"Juliet Wagner also laughed. "People really are greedy. Before, when I thought you wouldn't come, I only wanted you to come. Now that you're here, I'm wondering why you came. For me or for the child?""Does it matter?""It does. If you were to lose your memory forever, I would have a husband who only loves the child and not me.""You can still back out."
