Ronnakrit's Pov

As soon as I arrived at the gamble house, I sighed in relief. I got off my bike after making sure it's parked in a safe spot.

I approached the entrance, looking at the tall building in front of me.

The Ban Kan Pan wasn't just a building; it was a fortress. No signs, just a heavy, unmarked door guarded by two mountains of muscle who looked like they chewed nails for breakfast. A cold shiver, the kind that had nothing to do with the night air, traced a path down my spine. Assess. Adapt.

I moved forward, my steps silent on the pavement. As I reached for the door, a meaty hand slammed flat against the wood, blocking my path.

The guard didn't even look at me. "ID." His voice was a low grumble, like stones grinding together.

Shit. My mind raced. I had fake IDs, but not on me for this mission. Bluffing was the only tool left.

"I'm a guest of the house," I said, layering my voice with a confidence I didn't feel. "My business is my own. Now, are you going to let me in, or do I tell your boss you're turning away his money?"

For a terrifying second, I thought I'd overplayed my hand. The second guard stepped closer, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. Then, the first one grunted.

"Phones. " He shoved a small, empty basket at me. The demand was a test of compliance.

Without hesitation, I pulled my two phones from my pocket and dropped them in. The clatter they made was unnaturally loud in the tense silence. It was a leap of faith, disconnecting myself from the world outside these walls.

The guard nodded, finally stepping aside. The door swung open. The real mission started now.

I moved slowly and silently, my eyes scanning the area for one person. My prey. The owner of Ban Kan Pan.

I paused for a while, isn't this place a game house, why is there no yelling and all that smoky stuff.

As I scanned through the area, I spotted an elevator. Huh, maybe the next floor is game house.

In the elevator, I pressed the second floor button.

And as soon as the door opened, I was met with a huge game house. Sound of laughter, and dice hitting the table.

I scanned the area, hoping to get the target here but to no avail. I turned to a guy holding a tray filled with chips. " Where's the boss?" I asked

" He is in his office, in a meeting." He said nonchalantly.

I wonder why he just bluffed that out, too easily.

I think that's a VVIP room then. But, how will I get there?

I rushed up to the guy once again to get more information. " So how do I get to his office?"

" Pete don't tell me you've misplaced your card this time again." He said.

That was when it hits me hard, he has mistook me for another person. It's great by the way, I should just use it to my advantage.

" I think I did." My hands raked through my hair. I was trying hard to mimic Pete's likely distress.

" Huh, do you really have to do that every time we are here? Take mine." He stretched his hands forward handing me his ID.

Ohh, WOW... You've just made my work easier.

" Thanks dear." I nodded twice before turning to leave.

That was too easy. I have passed the first level, now I just need to make it to the last part of my job alive.

I headed towards the elevator, although, I don't know which is the right one, I took the one in the middle. I placed the ID on the sensor, and immediately the elevator slide open.

My mind drifted back to that guy, and I kept wondering if I really looked like the Pete he mentioned.

I quickly got in, pressing the last number which would practically take me to the last floor.

And as soon as the elevator dinged, the door slowly slide open. I stepped out, moving forward to my left.

Voices echoed from the room. And I wonder why there was no bodyguards outside.

" My dad haven't been really well, so I happened to check through the company's statement just today." A man's voice could be heard.

" And how excited are you for a big profit?" Another man laugh aloud.

" Right. The Casino has been earning pretty big... All to an extent it arises someone's greed to start cheating." The calm guy said again. " Do you agree?" He asked.

Almost immediately, the whole room went quiet. I wonder what was really happening.

" Hey, hey calm down." The other man who laughed moment ago said.

At that moment, I took a second to retrieve the target's photo from my pocket. I stared at it for a while, memorizing his looks

" I have done business with your dad for years, he had ne'er ever disrespected me." The man said aloud. " Me!" His voice more louder than the previous one.

Slowly, I took one dagger and an tear gas. Stealthily, I moved towards the door.

"They say I am more like my mum, you know?" A deafening gunshot shattered the air. No more time. I quickly slipped in my earbuds, twisted the doorknob, and burst into the haze-filled room.

My eyes locked on the old man. I didn't throw the dagger; I needed to be sure. I lunged, but as the blade left my hand, one of his men saw me.

He shouted. Another gun fired. And in the next second, the room erupted into a storm of muzzle flashes and screaming lead.

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 48| Reveal: The night before

Det's PovMy whole body froze. I blinked twice trying to understand what he had just said. " What?" I asked, leaning forward, my head tilted slightly. " You heard me pretty clearly, Det." Sila said, his voice was low. " There's no repeating the same thing over and over again." He blurted. " Tell him to leave." My voice was cold. I pressed my palm flat on the table, my lips curled up slightly. " Get out," my voice was cold. He nodded continuously, rolling his eyes. His hands in his pocket as he turned to leave. He dragged himself outside my office. But, I could see him linger around through the glass. What was he looking for?ーI asked myself. My ex had no reason to come here. But, if he did... What made him come back?...I had spent most of my time in my office. And Ronnakrit never came back. It was getting late already, he still didn't show up. Not even his brake light, nor Porsche's. I picked up my phone dialing his phone number. My eyes glued on the phone, while it kept buzzing a

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 47| My Ex is back

Det's PovAs soon as those words slipped through his lips, my jaw dropped. I blinkedーonce, twice, thriceーbut none was helping for enough clarity. " What did you just say?" I asked, my voice was barely audible. " You heard me right, Det." He said, his voice was almost cold. My jaw dropped. I gulped down my saliva. This wasn't the same Krit I knew. Krit doesn't sound this cold when speaking. I wanted to speak, but kept quiet. There was nothing I could say anymore. The images from that night flashed across my eyes. The way I had held him. Those kisses. The way I had slipped my tongue through his lips, everything just replayed behind my head. There was no way I was falling for another guy. No way. It was not possible. It couldn't happen. But, it was all a bluff, I was already in it. I stared into his eyes, his long hair played across his face. I licked my lips, "You don't need to return the money," I said. " Since you're back, our old deal is still on. Be my bodyguard, and you can d

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 46| Embark on a new mission

Ronnakrit's PovMy heart skipped a bit. My jaw dropped, I raised my left eyebrow. I lifted my eyes to look at him, then back at the photo he gave to me." Why do you want to kill him?" I asked, There was no way I'm gonna kill Det's father. Not now not in. The near future. I can't kill Anant. Even if he wasn't the good type, his son still held Pawat in his custody. And my grandma? She was one of the reasons I didn't want to act irrationally. " You don't get to question me." He said, his voice was cold. " You do the work... Or?" He paused, He didn't speak, but his hands moved. He signalled the guy beside me. And instantly, he clicked his gun. Ready to shoot. I turned my head, looking above my shoulder. " I will do it." I paused, my mind racing with so many possibilities. "On one condition." I blurted. " Wise one," he smirked. His face slightly folded. " Go on." " You pay me half the payment before I embark on the journey. We're looking at 50m" I said, my voice cold. I tilted my he

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 45| Next Target: Det's Father

Ronnakrit's Pov“I'm giving you that chance to choose.” He said, “ I love your body. You get raped, and killed. Or, you just work with me. There won't be any rape. You will work, and get paid.” His voice was cold. He trailed the cold rim of the pistol around my head. The next second, it felt more like my life was just going off the next second.I raised my eyes to look at him. Lowering it the next second. I tried to stretch myself longer with the help of the ropes around my hands. But, I was already weak. I let out a low groan. “ I don't wanna work with you.” I said, he can't be serious about the rape. He can't,he won't rape me. I know that really well. And I know one thing for sure. He can't be serious about the rape. Not now, not ever. He is not serious about it. “ Well, it seems you die after all.” He smirked. Looking into my eyes, I watched as he told his men to come carry me. And yeah, that was the last thing I saw at that moment as I slowly succumbed into the darkest abyss.

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 44| Dagger's threat

Det's PovI stepped into my office, lowering my head to look at the floor. My mind was racing with many questions. It has been three days now ever since Dagger came to ask me about Krit. And I was shocked. Many questions kept racing in my mind, I just didn't understand one thing. Maybe it's never a thing. What was their deal? How did they know each other? I went straight to my chair, his words playing at the back of my head. I sat right on the chair, my eyes caught the red envelope. At that moment, something clicked in my head. There was no way I could live without Krit. He had the key to solving the mystery about this whole envelope stuff and I had let him go all because of my stupidity. Damn, how do I settle things now, there was no way I could get him back. My mind drifted back to what Dagger had saidーif he should not find him in the next seven days then he will kill me.My life was on the line. I was a strong one, but when it comes to Dagger… even my father can't do anything.

  • Love At Stake   Chapter 43| Dagger's deal

Ronnakrit's PovI didn't understand what was happening, I didn't understand the idea, the scope. My background was like a little show that doesn't rhyme with my own current life. And it was killing me. I was just seeing faces that make me question what I really know about my background.“ What?”she said, she opened her mouth to speak again… The next second, her head exploded. Blood splattered across the room. I watched as she slowly landed flat on the floor, my mouth wide open. I didn't understand what was happening, but I knew that for sure she was already dead. And I am the cause of it. I didn't wait, I sprinted out of the shop. My legs were pretty fast, flying across the tarred floor almost touching the back of my head. My mind wasn't stable. I was just grateful that these stupid people were using silent guns. It saved my ears from bleeding and going numb again. Before I could take the sharp corner in front of me, I felt a strong force collide with my head. My vision blurred imm

Det Pov" No," I shook my head slowly. " I am not going, so is he." I added. There was no way, I'd let Krit go to a night party. What if he can't take alcohol? Porsche would surely force him. I hate it when Porsche announce this kinda thing. I really love him being 17, so I would be able to contro
