Chapter 4: Ivor's New Mistress

Lia’s POV

I’m horrified. Just one evening I didn’t go with Ivor, he had a new mistress. Ivor even remembered the girl’s name and found her interesting.

“No way,” I said unconsciously. Ivor never remembers his mistress’ name, not even Lahaina. But now he did.

Ivor heard, he frowned. He said, “What’s wrong with you?”

It startled me. I didn’t want Ivor to get it wrong. I explained, “Nothing, just a little surprised.” Lia immediately probed, “She must be exquisite.”

Ivor paused, as if thinking. He said, “Yes, her beauty attracts me.

As there was thunder in my mind, I only had the courage to pursue Ivor yesterday, but today a strange girl appeared and caught Ivor’s attention.

I walked out of Ivor’s office without telling him anything. I strangled the list I had in my hand.

I wanted to cry but my powerful sense prevented me from doing it at the company. I went back to my office, lying on the old sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling.

What should I do? Ivor’s announcement was a slap to my cheek. It hurt, it’s hot, it kept me from moving.

I tried to force myself to sleep. Because if I kept thinking of Ivor, thinking of that strange girl, I’m going to cry.

But soon I realized that I couldn’t sleep, that I had underestimated Ivor’s influence on me.

In this moment of despair, enduring the torment of sensibility and sense, I wanted to write a resignation letter.

“Clunk,”

The sound of the door opening startled me. I sat up and looked at the door instinctively.

Oh, my God, that’s Ivor. And why did he come to my office?

I really expected him to tell me that tonight he wouldn’t be with that strange girl, Elie Jenner, and would pick a girl from my list.

Ever since I knew I loved Ivor, I’ve never had fun when Ivor had sex with his mistresses. But for now, I just hope he would have sex with his mistress instead of with Elie. Who knew if their relationship would go any further?

Ivor frowned at me. He always did it. So it’s hard to pinpoint how he felt.

I suddenly realized that my appearance was getting pretty sleazy, because I had just been lying on the sofa and was sad.

I hastily recalibrated my appearance clumsily.

“Is something wrong, sir?” I asked.

Ivor said, “Come with me tonight, you need to meet Elie and solve the problems that arise when she becomes my mistress. Remember to prepare a small gift for her.”

I nodded, and Ivor immediately walked out like there was nothing to hold him back.

“Clunk.” As soon as he closed the door, tears welled up in my eyes.

A present? He’s never been so considerate of anyone, including me. But Elie was the exception.

I could not control my tears. It never stops falling, drifting away at the makeup that I meticulously made and also at my hopes. I look like a loser to me.

Yes, I’m a loser.

It took me over an hour to focus on my work. Like every day, this job brought me a lot of pressure. I spent all morning trying to get one of Ivor’s lovers to sign the deal when they broke up.

Coco came to my office and invited me to lunch. She didn’t ask me anything, even though I looked quite dejected. I’m really grateful to her for that.

In the afternoon, I worked frantically to forget the emotional suffering. I tied my hair high, because it was no longer necessary for me.

After work, I picked an expensive necklace as a gift for Elie.

I envied her; it was true.

When I walked into the car, Ivor was already there, he was working. I put Elie’s gift on an empty chair.

Ivor immediately noticed the gift, which hurt me

‘What is it?” Ivor asked.

“Nothing,” I wanted to say, but I didn’t dare.

“A gold necklace,” I answered honestly, then sent Ivor a photo.

It was a vintage gold chain necklace.

Ivor frowned, looking unhappy about the necklace.

“Exchange it, a thin gold necklace. This necklace doesn’t suit her.” Ivor demanded.

My hands trembled. My heart resisted Ivor’s request, but my sense did not give me a chance to say no. It’s a harsh battle between my sense and my heart.

In the end, my sense won. I took out my phone and ordered a thin gold bracelet, which I could get as soon as we arrived at the villa Elie was living in.

Elie was a beautiful young girl with long, dark hair and brown eyes. My first impression of Elie was a lively girl with an exquisite smile. When she smiled, her dimpled cheeks would appear, her eyes squinched.

She differed completely from me. I rarely laughed and always was serious. Her smile made me feel so shabby when I laughed.

And the other reason I felt her smile was beautiful was that Ivor smiled when he saw her smile. He just smiled gently, but I could hear my heart crumbling like a glass falling to the ground.

I tried to force myself to laugh when I gave her a present.

“Thank you so much,” Elie said. She opened the gift immediately, and when she saw the necklace, she said, “Exquisite, you’re very thoughtful.”

“This is a gift that Mr. Mitchell chose,” I followed a routine.

Elie looked at Ivor, Ivor looked at me. Their actions were in less than a second.

I couldn’t look at Ivor’s expression, so I looked at Elie.

“Thank you, Ivor,” Elie said. Her skin was white, her cheeks reddish, making her look both euphoric and charming.

“You're welcome,” Ivor said.

They walked into the villa, and I had no reason to be here.
