"The problem is, the followed target can only have one destination paper doll on them, meaning, how many people can get in, depends on how many Perses's men we can find." Kitty handed the paper dolls over to Erebus as she explained how it works.
"No problem, we currently are aware of two of his men, and we just found a third person." Erebus took the paper dolls.
"Person?" Kitty caught the weird description.
"Arya, she's the third daughter of our new queen. We think she has been a part of this." Erebus didn't say anything about Curtis, or, Prince Charles because he hadn't got any hard evidence on him, and he didn't want to attract Kitty's attention to him.
"Ohh, okay. Then it means we can get three people in there." Kitty nodded, not noticing Erebus's sullen expression, "When can we make a move?"
"Be patient." Erebus put a hand on her head, "Metis, take Iapetus and go put bugs on the two men you have been following. And get me Menoetius."
"Yes, my Lord." Metis left with Iapetus.
"We need to make sure we know what's going on the other end in case we went in to a dining hall. We only have one chance." Erebus explained to Kitty.
"Yeah, makes sense." Kitty nodded, "Hmm, I also invited Winnie to come when we go in. It's her spell after all, just in case it goes wrong."
"Of course. You made the right call." Erebus paused and asked, "What's bothering you?"
Well, lying to him was bothering her.
Kitty didn't mention the twig, as Winnie asked, but she didn't feel good hiding things from Erebus either. It won't be much if she wasn't asked to specifically not to mention a part of Winnie's plan. Yes, Kitty trust Winnie, but it somehow made it feel like Kitty was also a part of a lie to Erebus.
"Nothing..." Kitty sighed. She didn't like the feeling of being caught in between two people that she both liked, "So, what's it like between werewolves and witches though?"
"Well, being the two largest parts of the supernatural world, there's bound to be frictions between. But it's not THAT horrible, and we do try to keep peace." Erebus said, "It's not like we kill every witch on sight, don't worry too much about it."
"Okay..." Kitty mumbled.
"..." Erebus hesitated for a second, but he didn't say anything to Kitty about the fact that he was almost sure that Kitty was in fact, the daughter of the witch, instead of Emma.
It was not the right time.
Besides, he hadn't got any new evidence against that yet. He needed to find some help from outside to look into why Kitty couldn't use magic.
After he dealt with Emma's situation.
It took them two days to get everything in place. They had to put the bugs on the targets together, and make a move at once in case they found the bugs.
On the third day, Metis, Iapetus, and Astraios finished their job perfectly before they returned to the bar, where Erebus and Kitty had been waiting already.
"This is Winnie. She's an old friend of Lilith, Emma's mom, and she's the one providing the paper dolls spell." Kitty introduced to them after Winnie came in.
Erebus looked cold but not too much unlike his usual expression: "Thanks for your help."
"So... who would be going in then?" Winnie asked.
"Pallas, Tartarus and Ares." Erebus answered.
Those three were the best warriors on the team.
"The witch might be in there." Winnie said, "After you get in, it would only be a question of time before they find you."
"But how could they find Emma? It's a huge area!" Kitty asked.
"With this." Winnie took out three small twigs, and Kitty didn't notice she avoided looking at them directly.
It was out of guilt.
"What are these?" Metis came up and started observing the twigs.
"It won't work out here, I've tried." Winnie explained, "I can track the trace of the Master of the Sea, hence, her daughter. Once you are in there, the little leaf on the twig will point directly at her, but this would also tip the witch off, if there were any."
"They look like... just normal twigs off trees on the street." Metis was not very convinced. After all, she knew Winnie's words were not to be trusted, so she didn't feel good about this.
"I use what I have at hand. It's the spell in it that matters." Winnie said disdainfully. She was NOT pleased to be questioned by a "pup" that's one tenth her age.
"Okay." Metis nodded under the hint of Erebus. He didn't want to let the witch know that they were on to her now.
"And when you find Emma, ripe these paper dolls, and you will be transferred back here, because the pair of these paper dolls will be put on the three people waiting in this room." Winnie said as she gave out three paper dolls to the three warriors, while put the pair of the dolls on Erebus, Metis and Iapetus.
"Don't mix it up." Winnie warned.
"Of course!" Ares laughed at that warning.
"My spell will almost certainly tip off the witch under the spell, so feel free to shift after you are in." Winnie said as they came and stood in a circle, prepared to go.
"Hey, maybe you shouldn't go together." Metis suddenly said, "Just in case."
"Tartarus, you go first." Erebus agreed.
"Yes, my Load."
Kitty was confused.
Winnie told her to break the twig when they found Emma, but then Winnie also asked Kitty to not let anyone know about the twig, which Kitty did as she asked. The twig was still in Kitty's pocket, and the werewolves had no idea about it. Then how could it help anyone?
Kitty stared at Winnie with confused and worried look, but she couldn't bring herself to say anything.
The clock was ticking.
Winnie stood far away from the circle; Kitty was staring at the circle and getting more and more nervous every second.
Something was wrong!
She didn't know who to trust or not, but there was one man that she could turn to--
Erebus!
Kitty turned to look at the man who had never doubted her before, even when there was evidence against her was presented, and she felt as guilty as hell.
He was not looking at them! He was sending a text. Why on earth would he be on his phone at this crucial moment?!
Kitty almost jumped at the circle as she yelled: "Wait!"
Everyone was shocked and staring at Kitty, but the three warriors already ripped the paper dolls apart...
"So, why are we here?"On the open bar on top of the hotel, Curtis stretched himself on a cane sofa."You resigned a decent pay job, so I'm here to inquire into that on behalf of the hotel." A man in black suit sat formally opposed to Curtis and replied with politeness."Ohh, really?" Curtis curved his lips into a sarcastic grin, "And why would your hotel care? I would think it to be a very attractive position?"
"Metis, where are you?" Erebus asked as he ran."Right around Seventh Avenue. Winnie is in the car, too." Metis answered."Put her on." Erebus's voice was cold."She can hear you." Metis said."Tell me what’s going on, and be aware that your answer decides whether you get to live till tomorrow." Erebus's voice was calm, but ther
"There came more weird people..." The wizard suddenly gave out a plaint. Kitty wanted to laugh at the fact that HE was calling other people "weird", but she didn't want to make the situation worse so she pressed that urge.Erebus turned to look following his sight at that comment before Kitty could press him on the question. It was Winnie."Do you know who she is?" Winnie asked the wizard.
Kitty took a step back away from Winnie with unbelieving eyes: "Is that true?"Winnie sighed heavily, but she didn't reply."What are you looking for here?" Erebus said, and the young wolves started closing on the three people in a standoff."..." Winnie pressed her lips together, staring at him. It looked like she wanted to just leave, but her eyes glanced at Emma time after time. She couldn't leave when she was so close.
"Let's get back first." Erebus nodded and took Kitty's hand, "We need to talk."Winnie nodded gloomily for her mistake. She was mad at herself for putting Kitty in danger now, and even if Kitty was not, the idea of using the girl who trusted her so much now pains her."Would you like to hold her?" Kitty suddenly said, and handed over Emma."I..." Winnie was shocked. She cared about Emma only because she thought Emma was her friend's daughter, and now that seemingly s
Erebus laughed in silent as he watched Kitty yelled "what" and then covered her own mouth and then froze at what he just said."You... you..." Kitty blinked a few times, still adjusting."Yeah." Erebus chuckled, gazing at the little kitten panicking in the corner he created with his body."But you said..." Kitty started and then stopped again.
"Really?!" Kitty exclaimed, and then rolled her eyes with sarcasm: "That's so cool! It would be cooler if I can actually use it.""Haha," Erebus burst into laughter, "Try it. There's nothing stopping you now.""I did! I tried!" Kitty pouted with compliant, "I couldn't even summon a magical item even when--God!"Kitty froze there, staring at the little stone that just emerged from her palm when she thought of the idea "summon a magical item".It was really that easy... IF she could use magic then."I don't understand..." Kitty mumbled, eyes moving to Erebus with an appealing, confused look."There is much that we don't understand about you, for now." Erebus chuckled, "But one thing is sure.""What?" Not satisfied with his deliberate pause at the crucial part of that sentence, she frowned as she stared at him."That you ARE magical." Erebus said, smiling at her."Ohh." Kitty lowered her head as she felt her ear tips flushed. She quickly shifted her focus on the stone to avoid Erebus's ga
Kitty's sudden outburst caught Erebus's attention. She was the only one who heard his phone call with Menoetius after they got Emma back. She KNEW it wasn't Curtis!Erebus immediately got her plan. They needed Curtis as a distraction to throw off the mole, who was definitely one of his Dim Patronus, now that Winnie and Curtis were both proved innocent.
