Chapter 6 Who Are You Calling Trash?

Auteur: Jenny Drake
The living hall became filled with tension.

The vast silence made even a pin drop audible.

Faye stood where she was. She looked at Clint, aghast.

Was this man still her father?

She'd once thought of herself equipped for such a situation. Yet, the intense pain piercing her heart was undeniable as she gazed at him.

"No!" Faye cried. Then, she quickly ran upstairs to her room.

Clint bellowed behind her, "You think you're all grown up now, don't you? Wait till I freeze your credit card!"

"Stop it, Dad … Don't hurt yourself with this anger. Faye doesn't have a job yet. She just returned from abroad. She couldn't possibly survive on her own right now …" Tracy's voice grew smaller and smaller, finally ending with, "Not to mention she's keeping a man out there …"

Clint hadn't really intended to suspend Faye's card earlier as he'd just been upset. But that decision changed when he heard Tracy's words.

He wasted no time and swiftly called the bank. "She has embarrassed me and brought shame to the family name! Let's see how she feels after I suspend her card!"

With that, Faye was suddenly deprived of every means to support herself here.

Tracy was giddy with glee. She hugged Anthon's arm and asked softly, "Anthon … do you think the wedding can still happen after all this? It's in ten days …"

Clint's anger rose to another level upon seeing this.

Just then, loud noises could be heard from upstairs. It sounded like things were being tossed onto the floor.

Clint clenched his teeth and stormed upstairs. "What are you up to now, you good-for-nothing?" he yelled. "Come downstairs and apologize to your sister and Anthon!"

When he reached Faye's bedroom door, he noticed bundles of clothing and jewelry on the floor. They all belonged to Tracy.

Clint was furious and was about to head into the room. However, he was stopped by a pillow that was thrown in his face.

Clint threw the pillow away, but he was soon hit with a comforter instead. After that, more heavy blankets and pillows followed.

Clint couldn't even begin to yell as he was swiftly overwhelmed by the weight of all the fabrics.

Tracy had expected Clint to scold Faye again, but she was confused when she heard more things being thrown on the floor.

She rushed upstairs and saw the growing mountain of items in front of the bedroom door.

She shrieked, "What are you doing to my things, Faye?"

"That's it!" Tracy cried out and dashed into the bedroom. However, she tripped on a chain of pearls and fell flat on her face.

By then, Lizzie and Anthon had come upstairs. They were utterly taken aback by the sight before their eyes. They quickly helped Clint and Tracy up from the floor.

At this point, Faye had just about finished tossing out Tracy's belongings from inside the bedroom.

Her face was icy as she stared at the befuddled family of four outside the door. "This is my room. If you don't plan on moving out yourself, I'll help."

"You … How—" Tracy was at a loss for words. She felt so upset that all she could do was stomp her feet and whine. "Dad, she's bullying me!"

"You really think I can't kick you out of this house, Faye?" Clint hissed menacingly.

"Kick me out?" Faye sneered. "You seem to forget that Mom was the one who bought this house in the first place. Mom was the one who decorated this room for me. She's just sick, not fucking dead!"

Clint felt the impact of those words hit him squarely. It made his knees weak.

His hands balled into fists.

Despite that, he found he had nothing to retort with.

"After Mom got hospitalized, you exploited the fact that I was a child and brought your mistress back home. Fine, have it your way. But do you really expect me to sit back and let your mistress and her daughter take our home away from us?"

"You-You're just a firestarter, you!" Clint tried retaliating. But it was clear he didn't have the grit he had before.

"Me? A firestarter? What are you, then? A yellow-bellied coward who's afraid of committing to his wife and daughter?"

"Say that again. I dare you!" Clint yelled and raised his hand in front of Faye's face.

"Hit me!" Faye shrieked back. She stood her ground firmly.

She glared at her father with steely eyes as she spoke. Inexplicably, it reminded Clint of his wife.

His hand wavered in the air.

It never landed.

Clint gnashed his teeth in anger while his temple throbbed intensely.

Lizzie saw the situation getting worse and went to grab Clint's hand.

She tried to placate Clint. "Why are you so angry, Clint? The girl's just upset. Let her express her emotions …"

After that, Lizzie turned to Faye. "This is all my fault, Faye. I forgot to help Tracy pack her things earlier today. Why don't I help you now, hm? Don't throw and drag those things out. What if you hurt yourself?"

In a matter of seconds, Lizzie had swiftly turned the tide in her favor. "Remember, you still have that dinner with the Shaw family. You don't want to show up looking all bruised, do you?"

Despite appearing considerate toward Faye, her words effortlessly cast Faye as the villain.

Clint sneered. "You better be on your best behavior tonight. Don't embarrass us in front of the Shaws, or else …"

Eyeing the mess in the bedroom, he grumbled, "Where's the housekeeper anyway? Have her clean this place up. All you know how to do is create more troubles for us …"

With that, he turned away and went downstairs.

Tracy smiled gloatingly. "I know our engagement has upset you, Faye, but me and Anthon truly love each other. I hope you can still find it in your heart to give us your blessing."

It was as if Faye was the one in the wrong here.

Anthon surveyed the situation. He couldn't bear to see the woman who belonged to him feel threatened.

He wrapped his arms around Tracy and glared at Faye. "We don't need her blessing, Tracy. She was the one who cheated on me first. If she hadn't bewitched me back then, I'd never have dated her."

Another blade lodged itself in Faye's heart.

It was true that she had pursued Anthon first, but the man was just as reciprocating at that time.

Back then, Anthon confessed his long-standing feelings for her and admitted that he was too timid to make the first move. He even made silly promises to love her forever.

"Don't talk about Faye like that, Anthon. She was just naive."

"Naive?" Anthon sneered. "She has already slept with who knows how many men. She's fucking disgusting."

Faye's fists balled up tight when she saw how delighted Tracy was. She angrily kicked Tracy's belongings on the floor.

Faye grunted. "Congratulations on winning your Oscar for being the most pretentious bitch to ever exist. Now pick up your trash and get out of my sight. It stinks in here."

It took Anthon a few seconds to realize that by trash, Faye had meant himself.

By then, Faye had already slammed the door in their face.

"Who are you calling trash, huh?" he demanded.

She treated you well, yet you killed her over such trivial matters. Are you even human?"Faye smirked. "Since when do you care about her, Tracy?""What are you talking about? That's our grandmother. Clark's words only enraged Flora. Eleanor abused Faye when she was a child, which led to Faye getting sick repeatedly. Though Flora tried her best to counter the poison, Faye was still more frail than ordinary children. Eleanor knew that Faye wasn't Clint's child, so she had always been displeased with her. "Had I known that she's the kind of person who can harm a child, I would never leave Faye with her." Rage filled Flora's eyes. Just as she was about to leave, Eleanor started coughing on the bed. Clark shouted and ran outside to get the doctor. Until the doctor arrived, there were two minutes when Flora was alone with Eleanor. It wasn't until the doctor arrived that Flora found out Clark didn't even

Lizzie and Clint were momentarily stunned, confused by Tracy's words. "I just received a call from Uncle. He said that Grandma passed away and we need to go home."Clint jolted and collapsed onto the ground. "What?"Tracy smirked. "They can't reach you or Mom, so he called me instead. We need to go home right now.""Ha! So what if she's dead? She doesn't see us as family, so why should we go back?" Lizzie scoffed in contempt. Eleanor disliked her right from the start. If Eleanor didn't stop her from marrying Clint at the very beginning, Flora would have never gotten married to Clint. Though Eleanor helped get rid of Flora in the end, she continued to mistreat Lizzie when she finally married Clint. Eleanor resented Flora for being too strong-willed and disrespectful. However, she looked down on Lizzie for not being as talented as Flora and incapable of bringing more profit to the Brown family. She kept comparing Lizzie to Flora and bossed her around. Lizzie remained patie
