“I reject you, Alpha Harrison Blackwood…” Her voice kept ringing in my head.

How dare she reject me? How dare she reject an alpha?

Back in my office, I poured a glass of whiskey. The burn did nothing. I leaned back, shut my eyes, tried to push her face out of my mind. But it didn’t work.

Merry only lowered her gaze when I asked her about my mate's info. Lucien told her not to tell me. To this moment, I didn’t even know my mate’s name.

“Fuck!” I slammed the glass down hard enough to make the liquor splash. Rage boiled through me. Lucien. That bastard actually dares to covet my mate…

Worse than that—her eyes. When she looked at me, there was no warmth. No longing. Only fear. I was her Alpha, not a murderer. Why did she look at me like I was a monster?
