"Forcing Two people who do not like each other into wedlock when all you other Elders are happily mated really sounds like the way to go, that is no longer the case, Astrid has her mate so there will be no other plans, no other suitors am I clear?"

"But my King!"

"AM I CLEAR?!" he cowers away "yes my King, you are clear" "good, Astrid you guys can go, tell me what you came to see me about "uh, it was about Dr. Goods suspension" as I walk away I hear Tyler laugh, its a cold and very chilling laugh and it makes me want to run further away.

"Elder Tom, I do suggest you get the hell out of my sight before I rip your heart out and eat it!" never in my life have I seen someone run so fast that I felt a breeze flow by me, I mean he moved in such speeds that it was an absolute blur.

And I can't help myself I laugh and I laugh out very loudly holding my stomach, till I'm certain I'm red in the face "did you see how fast he went by?" I wheeze out, oh my gosh my stomach hurts.

"Tyler, we came to see you but the guards stopped us" gosh Cory, why?! I give him the side eye which he naturally ignores "as they should" "but why"  "because I said so, please excuse me" he turns to leave "what's up with you Tyler?"" he swings back to us "I should be the one to ask you that, don't you think? the guards may be below you in rank but you are not above me so unless I say otherwise no one, not even my parents are allowed in"

The King turns and leaves, heading back down the corridor towards the private room, she has to be his mate, but why not just say so? claim her? there has to be something more to it but I'll leave that be for now, I've got my own business to take care of.

"What the hell does he have up his ass" "how could you say something like that about the King Cory, your best friend at that?" "you're really asking me that Astrid?" "yes, since you got your mate, you seem to be on some sort of power trip and been a total asshole, Tyler is only responding in kind to you, a lot more understanding than he would be had you been anyone else, so count yourself lucky and get over yourself for fks sake"

I can see his jaw ticking but he doesn't say anything, his mate is rubbing his arm but she's looking at me in a not so kind way but I don't care "shall we get back to bed?" I ask Carson "yes, I hope I get discharged tomorrow" "I believe you would, the tests were just a means of formality"

We get back into bed together and pull the curtain around our bed, I snuggle into Carson and fall asleep with a sigh.

"Is there still no word on Melina, Simon?"

"No, she's still missing sire"

"She is not dead, that much I know or I would have felt when she descended, so she has to be out there some where"

"We are still on the look out sire, but I'm afraid I have even more bad news"

"You're trying to descend me aren't you Simon"

"Forbid it to be so sire"

"Lay it on me Simon, what could possibly be worse than a missing Jablesse"

"Uhm, well a few of our scouts we sent out were killed, Five bodies were brought back"

"So that means One is missing"

"Yes"

"Where did it happen?"

"Close by the Royal City"

"I thought the scouts there were all pulled back after the last failed attempt?"

"I resent Three packs just to see if there would be another opening for us to grab a few females and little Ones"

I rub my temples in frustration "it seems there's quite a lot of things going on around here without my knowledge, first the Jablesse set up and now sending out packs without my knowing and on the Royals borders! come on Simon, I'd swear you all are trying to sabotage me from the inside had I not known better! Please stop making decisions without first consulting me! is that understood?!"

"Yes, sire it is understood and will not happen again"

"See that it doesn't and get the remaining packs back before more of them are killed, or worse caught and taken captive, if we are discovered prematurely it will be the end of us all"

I leave the room after reporting to Lord Umi, I do not mean to cause him trouble but I really want things to move along quicker, he is a wise leader indeed but he is way too passive for me, if it were up to me the attack would have happened a long time ago.

I get to my lair "Lord Umi wants us to call the rest of the hunter packs back" "I told you not to tell him about them" " I swore my allegiance to him as did you Cass, so I am obligated to report our casualties as the numbers are important"

"Alright, well I'm going to send the scouts out to round them out and bring them back then"
