LOGIN“Riley! You need to try on the dress I got for you!” Hannah’s only focus was this stupid dance and now I was worried about even seeing next week.
“Alright, I’m coming.” As much as I tried to sound excited, I couldn’t muster up the strength.
Unfortunately, Hannah could tell. “What’s wrong?”
“I can’t say.” Standing up, I was almost completely dried from my swim at this point. “I’ll be there shortly.”
It was as if the entire forest around me knew of my future. As soon as I looked at an animal, it would run away. Sierra was puffing her chest, proud of the role she was about to play. My only thought was maybe Simon would do a training session tonight. Last-minute pointers since I’d have to leave Sunday morning. The first task is as early as Monday and they didn’t give you any idea of what it might be.
“Simon?” I mind-linked him as I broke through the forest and into the open park next to the pack house.
“Are you okay? You have been gone for awhile.”
“Can we do a private training session tonight? Just going over everything.”
I could picture the surprise on his face. The stupid way his eyebrow would shoot up, but nothing else would move. “Sure. If you want.”
I didn’t reply as the sarcastic comment that came to my mind wasn’t exactly respectful. I wanted to have a say in my future. I wanted to be able to talk to Hannah or Cameron about it. Preferably Cameron. Since they hoped we would be mates, it was always him and I together. He knew more about me than Hannah, only because she could careless about fighting. Where I only saw Simon as a brother, I saw Cameron as more or I used to. I’ve been trying to get rid of those feelings.
“RILEY!” Hannah’s voice echoed out, making the birds fly away. Looking up, she had opened the window and was hanging out of it. Her smile was contagious.
“I’m coming!” Pushing down those worrisome feelings, I tried to replace them with excitement or acceptance, anyway.
“Hurry up!” I heard her call out before the window slammed shut.
It only took me a minute to get inside and make it up the four flights of stairs to Hannah’s room. “I’m he-” tossing the door opened, I stopped when I saw Simon, Cameron and Hannah all standing around. “Why are you guys here?” The carefree attitude was gone quickly and replaced with something more defensive.
“They needed to try on their suits, so I made them come over. Since we are going together, I want all of us to match.” Hannah smiled at me before twirling around and looking at the rack of dresses.
“Avoiding me?” Cameron asked in the mind-link.
I wasn’t sure he even had feelings for me from the start. “Nope.”
I made it a few feet before Hannah grabbed a dress and pushed it out to me. “Try this on.”
There wasn’t any arguing with her. Taking the dress, I went to the bathroom to change. The biggest reason I hated wearing dresses was because I hated how I looked in them. I wasn’t body builder status, but I was ripped. Where the other girls have curves, I had muscle, and that didn’t look pretty in a dress.
However, as I pulled up this dress, I had to hand it to Hannah. I’ve always had hips, but this dress really made me feel pretty. Maybe a little much for this dance, but I still surprisingly liked it. It had a small corset under my breast. The V neck was wide, really showing off my cleavage. The off the shoulder trap was perfect. The mermaid style bottom has a huge slit to my upper thigh and really brought out my hips.
“Are you dressed yet?” Hannah yelled.
“Yes.” I yelled back as I grabbed a hair clip and put my hair up. It dried with a gross covering, making me really need a shower.
As I stepped out of the bathroom, I wasn’t disappointed in their reactions, but it did make me blush. “You need to take that dress to the tournament.” Simon said in the mind-link.
“Holy shit! I am good!” Hannah clapped her hands in front of her.
“What do you mean?” I replied to Simon.
I could see him frown out of the corner of my eye. Cameron had walked forward with an expression I couldn’t read. “I guess I can return all of these!”
Simon didn’t respond, but Cameron grabbed my hand and twirled me. “Isn’t this a little too dressy for the party?”
“No! She is the beta’s daughter. It’s our job to be over dressed!” Hannah put her hands on her hips. Cameron didn’t like something, but kept his mouth shut.
“Can I go change? I need to shower and get this lake water off of me.”
Hannah rolled her eyes, but nodded. “I need to steam it anyway. What are you doing tomorrow before the dance?”
My body froze for a second as I wasn’t exactly sure what, if anything, I needed to do. “I’ll have to ask my dad. He hasn’t told me of anything yet, though.”
“I was hoping to lay out at the pool. Let me know if you are free! Oh, are you eating here tonight?”
“Um, probably not. I’ll let you know what my dad said for tomorrow.” Not waiting for her response, I just ran to the bathroom to change. I really just wanted a quiet evening to figure out how I felt about it all.
After slipping out of the dress and hanging it back up, I was forced to put on my dirty clothes. It just felt gross, and my desire for a shower was pretty strong. I knew I would probably get sweaty with Simon, but I’d just take another shower. The life of a warrior.
“Okay! I’m headed out!” I didn’t give them much option as I exited the bathroom and bee-lined for the bedroom door.
“Riley?” Hannah soft voice was like stone in my veins. Making me instantly stop and turn.
“Yes?”
“What is going on with you?”
My anger was growing at Zayne. So when Nox and Tiffany walked in, he raised his eyebrow at me. “I found out why Zayne is always so pissy in the mornings, but why are you upset?” He plopped down next to me. My legs were up against my chest, as I was turned and glaring at Zayne. “Just because I am pregnant does not mean I can’t do anything for myself.” I growled. Nox just tossed his head back and laughed at me. Tiffany was in a chair, just watching the show. Zayne was at his computer, completely unbothered by this. “You are a delicate flower, love. Just relax and let me take care of my girl.” I let out a deep sigh and looked at Nox. “Angel, you knew he was going to be like this. Why are you surprised?” “You didn’t try stopping me from doing shit!” “First off, you were walking a crossed a field and then sat in a car.” Nox narrowed his eye at me. “Don’t make it sound like you were frolicking around the town. Second, this is Zayne’s heir to his pack. Of course, he is going to be extra
“Angel?” Nox was rubbing my leg. We left early from everyone. I wanted some space, and they all agreed to come to their new home to start over. Nox was going to send vehicles to transport anything they needed. I took the first part of the drive, and Nox was finishing it. Neither one of us wanted to stay another night away from our mates. It wasn’t that we were fighting, but it was taking a toll not being around them. “Hmm?” I asked, looking up. “Are we home?” “Just about. Ten minutes. I just wanted to talk to you before we get back.” “About what?” I asked, sitting up. Nox put his hand on my stomach. Something he has been doing. “I want you to know that I love you and this baby. You have a place in my heart.” Nox pulled over. He waited until he parked before he looked at me. Grabbing my face, he kissed me hard. “I’ll never leave you, never turn my back on you, and never do anything to hurt you again. I am truly sorry for everything I put you through.”“I forgive you, Nox.” I whis
“I don’t understand.” I looked at Jim, he motioned for me to go back up. Only when he was up, he closed the door and looked at me. “Mom built that for us kids years and years ago. A little before Nathan was born. I don’t know why your name keeps popping up here, but I think mom knew something deep in her mind.” Jim looked at us. “What we are trying to say…” Sarah reached for my hand. Instantly, I pulled away, but she just kept going until she held my hand. I got a disapproving look from her. “… mom wanted you. Making that blanket and finding that message. She made you that ring and necklace. She knew. She might not have known, but she knew something would happen. She wanted you. Wanted you to find us, and for us to accept you as our sibling.” “We came out here yesterday.” Nathan continued. “We found it then and had a long talk. We already knew how unfair we were to you, but we are sorry. This is us, showing you that mom did want you. Whatever her mental state was, it wasn’t her.”
“How are you two?” Zayne sighed, but we parked off the side of the road. “We just arrived.” Nox matched Zayne sigh. “We aren’t the first ones here, but no one is getting out yet.” “Not what I meant. Come on, tell me what’s going on between you guys. I need to know.” “We are working through it, man.” Nox looked at me. Reaching over, he put his hand on my stomach. “I made up some ground on fucking up. My freak out moment is done, I’ve embraced this.” “Good, and Riley?” “Nox….” I had to bite my lip from my anxiety. “Stop.” He didn’t take his hand off my stomach, but used his other to pull my lip out. “Squeeze my hand.” Doing as he asked, I kept going. “Nox told me this morning that he wasn’t trying to take your place, that he expects me to always go to you first. That he is just another person to find comfort in when you’re not around, or if I am mad at you. It made it feel more… it’s more clear on what roles we want to play with each other. We had a good night, talked a few thing
Nox: Fuck, I’ll do my best. My girl: I believe in you. Just don’t forget her coffee. That was the message she just sent. Changing it to unread, the shower turned off. Setting it back, it was my turn to get up and take a shower. Nox had folded our clothes and set the pregnancy test on top. Even in the morning, there were two pink lines. They were both equally dark, making me wonder how far along I was. “Angel?” My head looked up to see Nox standing there with a towel around his waist. My eyes didn’t look at him and instantly get wet, but I did accept his presence as a comfort. “It’s still positive today.” I sighed as he came over. “I almost expected it to be negative.” Nox sat down and pulled me on his knee. “You’re scared.” “What do I know about being a mother?” Sighing, I tried to stand up, but Nox wasn’t having it. “No. Stay here and talk to me.” “I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. A-are you sure it’s Zayne’s?” “I’m about 90% sure. The few times I came in you were
His lips were gliding across my skin as he barely touched me. Even his hands massaged my breast like they were made of glass. Yet, it felt so good, so sexy, so exposed. Moving down each curve, like I was made for him to explore. Kissing every inch of me. Gentle nibbles, sending waves of pleasure through me as he hit my scars and sensitive spots. Making note of exactly where they are. Moving down each leg, mapping out the freckles and veins that were visible until he lived between my legs. Giving me orgasm after orgasm. However, it was the way he kissed just above where the baby should be. Resting his forehead, I could hear him. “Please let this baby be healthy and know all the love in the world.” Kissing it again, he moved back up to my lips. As he kissed me, his dick found my entrance on its own. Slowly pushing into me, feeling the stretch of my skin around him. A deep groan ran up his chest, making his legs go wide. With one hand around my waist, he picked me up, so I was stradd
