"Maryanne! Hurry up, the banquet is starting already! You will be introduced soon!" Sally exclaimed softly. If one took a look at Sally, one would assume she is as soft as her voice was. They would never know how strict and hardened she can be. Sally always did everything with top-notch elegance.
"Mom, what makes you think I heard you?" Maryanne said, walking down the stairs to find her mother, dressed just like royalty should. Her mother was beautiful, and she was happy to have inherited the beauty.
Sally grabbed her cheeks softly, patting them. "Just two days at home and you have grown so beautifully! I can't wait to see what happens when he shows up today."
"Who?" Maryanne asked.
Sally giggled softly, shying away from the question. "Hurry now, we can't be late."
Maryanne rolled her eyes. Her mother was just so pretty and petty too.
"Okay, Mom."
She walked out of the house in her fairy dress. She didn't know whose idea it was to make such a dress for her but she loved it. The dress had different colors but they were all related to pink and purple. Some rose pink seemed to transition to a deep royal purple and kept on switching between the two colors as it went every which way. The dress was not exactly body hugging but it fit right, perfectly even. It had a slit in the front that was slightly below her middle thigh. Off the shoulder and had a low back.
Her brother helped her into the car while her mother helped herself. She shook her head. That was her family. If her father were to be around, he would drive his wife in his car while Michael would always drive her.
When Maryanne arrived at the venue of the banquet which was the ground floor of a big hotel in the state. She loved the decorations and the vibe they gave. Her brother led her backstage where she sat until she was introduced by her father. Then she walked out majestically, giving off the royal vibe she was accustomed to.
Thomas, Florencia, and Matilda were extremely shocked to see the person who walked out from behind the stage. Thomas's shock was even worse because he couldn't believe that he had treated her like crap when she could have changed his entire life.
"Is she truly a Bullyvan?" Matilda asked, sneering visibly at her.
Thomas scowled at her expression. "Wipe that sneer off your face, Mom."
"Or what?" Matilda refuted. "Forget about family background or anything, once a fool, always a fool."
Thomas thought about his mother's words. Perhaps she was right. Even if Maryanne did come from a nice and wealthy family, if she was a fool, her family's wealth couldn't change that. Gradually, his scowling expression also turned to a sneer. He could just embarrass her right in front of her guests to show everyone what kind of a person she was.
He stood up from his seat. Florencia's eyes followed him wherever he went. For her, it was alright since the girl was out of their lives. Honestly, the only issue she ever had with Maryanne was the fact that she was after Thomas and she was prettier and better than she was. Seeing Thomas going to speak to her made her uncomfortable.
"Where are you headed?" Matilda inquired. "Sit down my boy. It's not the time yet."
Thomas sat back down. He might hate what his mother asked him to do, but he could never refute her. Nobody could refute her, not even his father, and he was the Alpha.
Maryanne could see how Thomas stood up, only to sit back down. She smirked. Thomas Donovan is and will always be a fool.
"If you keep smirking like that, people will assume you are scheming something evil," Michael said behind her.
Maryanne turned to smile at him. "But of course, I am scheming something wicked right now. Worse than evil, Michael."
"Oh, you," Michael said, shaking his head. He loved his sister so much, he would support her even if she went into the street to break someone's car.
She shrugged. "Who invited the Donovans?"
"Uh, Dad I guess. Mom would have never wanted to invite anyone she felt was beneath her class and you know she feels everyone is beneath her class." Michael explained.
Maryanne giggled softly. "But of course. It's not like it's entirely a bad thing that they're here too. I am quite happy for them."
"Them?"
"The Donovans and then there is Florencia Douglas," Maryanne said, staring at the lady, straight in the eye. "The one who never learns a lesson."
"And I mean it literally, 'cause she's so dumb! I'd teach her something and ask her what I said and she's stutter and fumble then get angry and begin to yell."
Michael frowned. "Yell at you? Who the hell does she think she is to yell at you? And she dares to show her ugly face here? I'm throwing her out!"
"No brother." Maryanne held his arm to stop him. "I like the fact that she is here. It should teach her a thing or two by the end of the banquet."
"Also, I have plans for them." She said, smiling wickedly. "Great plans to welcome them to England."
Michael shivered at the sight of his sister's wicked face. Was he a brute? He couldn't begin to think about what she had planned. It was time for the meet and greet session.
"If my calculations are correct, Thomas will come to me to try and embarrass me because he thinks I'm in love with him."
Michael scoffed. "As if."
"That's what I'm expecting I'm counting on him to do that. If he fails to do it, my entire plans will not be put in place." She said. "I will then have to plan on the spot. But knowing Thomas, he's not that smart, he will do just as predicted. I can bet on it."
"Whatever happens, don't get too close to people like him, they tend to rub off their stupidity on the rest of the world."
Maryanne nodded. Michael touched her head affectionately and offered her a sweet smile before he left.
Maryanne smiled throughout her way down into the crowd. She knew that people would want to meet her. Someone tapped her from behind, she turned quickly to find a man there. He was somewhat masked but she caught a glimpse of his eyes, they were golden. He looked familiar too.
"Have we met before?" She murmured. Right then, Thomas showed up, obstructing her view of the man. Maryanne's soft expression turned into a terrible scowl instantly, she glared at Thomas.
Maryanne froze mid-step, her breath catching in her throat. Her eyes trailed downward, taking in her disheveled state. She was, to put it bluntly, half-naked. Memories of the previous night flooded back. She had woken up drenched in sweat, the oppressive heat of the night forcing her to shed her maxi dress. Now, she stood in nothing but a half-tank top and shorts, her skin prickling with a mix of embarrassment and vulnerability. The sound of footsteps echoing down the corridor snapped her out of her thoughts. Panic surged through her veins. Without a second thought, she darted toward Calhoun’s bed, leaping onto it and yanking the duvet up to her chin, her heart pounding like a drum.Calhoun's lips curved into a mischievous grin, and he let out a low chuckle, the sound rumbling through the room like distant thunder. He sauntered over to the door, closing it with a soft click before turning back to face her.“An, my love,” he drawled, his voice dripping with playful teasing. “What’s t
Two weeks later.Maryanne was so excited about her next lesson. She assumed that Alpha Avraz's story was interesting, but the next Alpha's story was more. She was excited to learn all about Calhoun and his history.Calhoun would always stand on the balcony and watch her train. He could see how well she was doing and it made him happy. Most times, he would leave the other things he had to do just to watch her train in the backyard."Lady An, you are doing a great job! I'm so proud of you!""Thank you lady Itzel."She finished her training for the day and returned to her room. Tanya was there to serve her dinner."Where is Calhoun?" She asked."Alpha Calhoun has gone out to fight," Tanya said. "He said I should refrain from telling you so that you would not get worried."She nodded. "Thank you, Tanya."Tanya nodded. "Anything else you might need, lady An?"Maryanne was almost tired. She had been called An by everyone else just because Calhoun called her by that name. Did she need anythi
Was it surprising that her mother had praised Calhoun for giving her such a luxurious room? Yes. Yes, it was very surprising. Sally's definition of luxurious wasn't like this. Maryanne didn't know how she felt about it."Mom!" Maryanne demanded. "How can you even say that?""Oh darling, he is taking good care of you!" Sally said softly. "Come on, show me around."She sighed. They started their journey around the castle, she was telling her mother stories about what she had been taught by her teachers.Sally found it interesting. "Oh, dear! Even I don't know about the history of your father's pack.""Really Mom?" Maryanne asked in surprise. "I never knew that.""Well, now you know." Sally said, chuckling lightly. "oh but don't tell your father, he would flip."Maryanne smirked. "I knew there was a catch. Oh but Mom, I can't wait for this month to pass. I want to familiarize myself with the company.""At least I can have some fun things to do before I get married and start a family."Sa
"There she is," Calhoun announced as she walked into the dining room. "Looking so comfortable."Maryanne glared at him until she sat down. The only space that was left for her was beside him and it's not like she would have sat down elsewhere, to begin with."Princess," Michael called.Maryanne scoffed at him. "you called me last night and didn't dare to inform me of your visit?""Well... In my defense, I think I did tell you that I'd speak to you this morning. Yes or yes?""Liar!" Maryanne whined. "You all are liars. Hi Mom." She smiled.Sally smiled shyly. "Hello, darling." Sometimes Maryanne wondered if that was how she was supposed to behave if she became the Luna. Was she supposed to smile so shyly all the time and blush at every kind word spoken to her?"Well, maybe I should just go and clean up a bit more." She said, getting up again. Calhoun placed his hand on her arm. She glanced at him."No need, sit." He said. "It's just breakfast and it's with family.""My teachers said-"
"Let me go and have my bath." He said. He got up and winced slightly."Let me help you." Maryanne said. "let me help you to your chamber."Calhoun was skeptical about having her in his chamber because she was literally in his chamber. He didn't know how she would feel about it."An, I will be fine. If I can't endure things like this, do you think I will be the Alpha?" He asked.Maryanne understood that most times than not, the male ego would never allow them to accept help from their women. Well, she wasn't his woman yet.She nodded and allowed him to leave. Calhoun managed to leave her room and once he did, he straightened up and walked properly. He had found a way to get to her.Maryanne seemed tough but she was caring and he loved that. If she would always welcome him whenever he returned from war, he would love to war every day. He smirked as he entered his room.Maryanne felt so sad about it, she took out her phone. She had turned it off since she was mad at her parents and Micha
After her lessons, she started to feel hungry. She escorted them out of the house and then she returned.Calhoun was nowhere to be found. Not as if she was searching for him, but she expected to at least see him after having her training.Tanya was by her side immediately. She held her hand and led her into her room."What shall you like to eat now?""Don't speak as if we are in the time of Alpha Avraz and his wife," Maryanne said.Tanya gasped. "Oh, you have begun your training. I wish I was there to send you off! Alpha Calhoun just pushed me into the kitchen because he wanted to send you off by himself."Maryanne was surprised at the revelation. "He did that?"Tanya nodded.Seeing Tanya nod, she remembered that Hamilton said she had to use her words and she was tempted to tell Tanya the same thing."I think I will like to eat now. Could you take it up to my room for me?" Maryanne asked.Tanya shook her head softly. "I'm afraid ma'am, but I overheard the beta and gamma tell Alpha Cal
