Chapter Fourteen

"There she is," Calhoun announced as she walked into the dining room. "Looking so comfortable."

Maryanne glared at him until she sat down. The only space that was left for her was beside him and it's not like she would have sat down elsewhere, to begin with.

"Princess," Michael called.

Maryanne scoffed at him. "you called me last night and didn't dare to inform me of your visit?"

"Well... In my defense, I think I did tell you that I'd speak to you this morning. Yes or yes?"

"Liar!" Maryanne whined. "You all are liars. Hi Mom." She smiled.

Sally smiled shyly. "Hello, darling."

Sometimes Maryanne wondered if that was how she was supposed to behave if she became the Luna. Was she supposed to smile so shyly all the time and blush at every kind word spoken to her?

"Well, maybe I should just go and clean up a bit more." She said, getting up again. Calhoun placed his hand on her arm. She glanced at him.

"No need, sit." He said. "It's just breakfast and it's with family."

"My teachers said-"
