Vera's POV

Why was he being so good to me? What was his purpose for bringing me here? He made it clear that he had no plans on having sex with me—it's not like I believe that but at the same time, he could be that self-controlled.

I couldn't bring myself to trust him that quickly. People change in the blink of an eye—just like Phil and I have gotten used to getting hurt by people time and time again. It was nothing new—but the feeling hit differently every time.

Despite my reservations, I'm not sure about getting comfortable in his humble abode but here I was, fascinated with the decor of this place. From the tapestries glued on the upper windows, down to a hallway filled with paintings hung on the walls from left to right.
