I instantly began to shake my head. "This can't be happening." My heart rate was increasing. We knew well never to be late for any event. We prioritised being prompt for our clients and especially for clients like Greg. I could feel it, I knew that I was doomed and there was no way out of this.
My fingers were shaky as I typed to let Vivian know. I was planning on avoiding it and just going there on my own but I knew she would know how to make things easier.
"What are you talking about?" She yelled into the phone as she'd call me immediately just so she could yell at me.
"I don't know how it happened, I'm so sorry." I groaned, "please contact them to let them know there's a delay with the situation, I'll be there in the fastest way possible."
"You get one good job and decide to fuck it up for yourself, fuck it for my brand. I swear girl, if anything goes wrong, I'm sorry but I'm going to lay you off for bringing us such a loss." She continued to yell at me, if only she knew how worse she was making things get for me. That was one thing I constantly feared having to hear. I didn't want to be laid off.
"I'll figure things out." I assured her even though I doubted myself.
I looked back at the card and realised why the address had been switched.
Mira.
It all made sense now, if Greg didn't care about who he had selected, he likely had no idea what I looked like and so if she showed up, he wouldn't question her presence.
Tears began to roll down my eyes as I booked the next taxi. I didn't want to tell Vivian just yet because I knew she would fire Mira but I told her to resend the address to me.
'Greg does not like phone calls but he isn't responding to any of my emails.' she texted me.
"Can you go any faster?" I told the driver of the taxi. He looked at me from the rearview mirror.
"I can't go beyond the speed limits, I'm sorry." He shrugged.
I sniffed and dried my eyes with the back of my palms. Mira knew how much I was fighting for custody of my sister. I had to be financially stable for this and fifty thousand would have done a lot for me.
I had a week left before they let families come have her.
"This is unfair." I cried into my palms.

It felt like forever but we got to the actual hotel. I didn't tip the driver this time. I just opened the door and sprung to my feet while he yelled behind me that I'd left my luggage behind.
I brought my phone out and called the phone number on Greg's card. It was a few more rings to voicemail when he picked up.
"Hi, this is Elena." I announced into the phone, panting heavily. "I know you are with someone else but I'm supposed to be your escort to this event, I have memorised everything in the script and there is a mix up." I rushed my words.
"This is Mr. Greg's assistant, what can I help you with?" The voice on the phone came back.
"Can I talk directly to him?" I requested, waiting outside the hotel.
"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't, if you have any message to relay to him, you will have to speak to me directly." He said conclusively.
I hung up and dialed Vivian immediately.
"Girl, I was just about to call you, Greg said that he is with you and you guys will board the flight in twenty minutes." She said. "It's their private plane..."
"No he's not." I flipped my wrist to see what the time was, "where's this airport at?"
"Avenue three. I'm so confused right kkw."
"He's with Kira, she stole my details and tricked me." I knew I had to let her know.
"What?" She gasped, seeming like she found it hard to believe me. "If that's the truth and he doesn't realise it, then just let it be so we don't get in trouble."
"Let it be? Viv you know how important this is to me." I began to sob.
"I'm sorry." She sighed, "I promise Mira will be punished on her return and I will compensate you the best I can."
This was bullshit, I thought. Without further ado, I waved one more taxi and headed to Avenue three. I had ten minutes to get there and I could still catch up.
I texted Sam to let her know what was going on and although she didn't respond in time, I could picture her angered face tearing through the screen.
The security guards refused my entry upon arrival. I pleaded and argued, refusing to leave and trying to push my way in.
"This is all a misunderstanding, I should be the one on that trip, why isn't anyone listening to me!" I cried.
One of the security men seemed to have enough as he pulled his gun out and pointed it in my direction, "ma'am if you do not leave now, I won't hesitate." That calmed me down but just then through the bars of the tall gate, I saw Greg walk by, a ton of security behind him and like I thought, Mira was casually tagging behind him.
That was all the energy boost I needed. "Greg!" I yelled on top of my voice.
He glanced in my direction and the look on Mira's face was beyond explanation. She looked like she had just seen a ghost.
Greg muttered to the men trailing behind him before he began to head in my direction.
I sighed in relief, hoping he would believe me.
"What's going on here?" He asked, looking at the men guarding the gates and then he fixed his eyes on the man whose gun was pointed at me.
"What?!" I stood to my feet sharply, not sure that I had heard her right. Amy's eyes followed my steps and she waited impatiently for me to drop the call. "Where is the scene? Has someone called the hospital? For the love of God, is he dead?" I started to cry. If Greg was gone, all of my life dreams and ambitions were dead. I loved him too much for him to leave now. "The ambulance will be here any minute from now." She said, "there's blood everywhere and he is badly injured, I honestly cannot tell you if he is alive because I don't know how to check for a pulse but he is surely unconscious." "Just send me the location of the hospital." I snapped at her and didn't bother to get dressed. "What happened? Is Greg okay?" Amy turned to ask me and I shook my head not having any answers for her. It was past home at night but I had no one that I could
Greg watched me with wary eyes. "Do you want us to open it here or in the car?"I thought about his question. Depending on the results of the test, I was either going to cry or laugh. If it was the former, I really wanted to be alone to avoid people talking about me as I opened it but I also wanted to be able to talk to the doctor."Let's open it in the car." I suggested. Since we were parked in the hospital parking lot, we could easily come back here if we really had to.Greg waited for me to open it once we were in the car.I stared blank at the results, rereading the written words in it over and over again."Well?" He asked with a lot of impatience."Greg, I'm pregnant." I swallowed. He widened his eyes and waited for me to say some more. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't even find the tears. They weren't forthcoming."So what are we goin
I stood to my feet sharply, instant worry taking over."What's wrong?" Beth stood up after me.I shook my head at her and dashed out of the study hall to call Greg. We literally had unprotected sex.I only took my pills on mornings I knew were sure that I would be having sex but since staying away from Greg, I didn't like to use them every morning unless I was sure we would be having an intercourse later that day."My love, what's up?" Greg asked me, answering the phone almost immediately."Greg, I didn't use my pills the last time we had sex." I said, worry in my tone. I had thought I wasn't ready for marriage and for sure knew I wasn't ready for a baby at all."What do you mean?" Greg asked in confusion and then he got my message almost immediately. "Oh.""Greg, what do I do?" I started to panic."Relax it doesn't certainly mean that you are pregnant." He swallowed."Greg I haven't been taking my pill
Elena nodded so fast, I thought her head would fall off and there was an immediate round of screams cheering on for us as I slipped the ring into her finger and stood to my feet to lift her into my hands. We connected our lips and all my anxiety vanished."I love you." She said with the kiss and I nodded. We continued to dance after and people didn't leave until it was almost four in the morning.Aimee and Beth were staying over at my place with Elena. The girls kept adoring and expressing their evident jealousy over the ring with series of congratulations and I'm so happy for you.I kept trying to meet Elena's gaze in the rear view mirror but she was so drowned by talking to her friends to even pay any attention to me.When we got to the house, the girls were so tired and just wanted to go to bed.Elena on the other hand stopped my
"Excuse me, what?" Greg asked sharply and I stood to my feet to go to his side. I wasn't sure I had heard Jack clearly to be honest.I held my hand to my mouth, my heart racing in its cage."We didn't want to tell you just yet because we didn't want you to be so bothered, but it was her wish. She said not to tell you until it was time." Jack further clarified and I felt like he was afraid that Greg might do something to hurt him with the way he was looking at him and the same thoughts were running through my mind.I held Greg's clenched fist and hoped that I would be able to calm him down."Are you mad?""Greg!" I didn't want him making a fuss in front of Amy.He fell to his knees and I thought he was going to pass out but instead he broke down, completely, not caring where he was. I had not seen a grown man wail in tears in such a long time.I went on my knees as well and wrapped my arms around him."It's okay, Gre
Greg and I went to pick Amy up after I'd cleaned up and had a shower. On the ride back home, Amy seemed like the most confused little girl and could you even blame her?"I think it would be a really sensible thing to at least buy a small sofa on our way, this little girl looks tired and I can tell you, the rest she needs is not limited to blankets, she wants something soft for her afternoon nap." He suggested."I totally agree with Greg." Amy voiced out and I resisted to urge to roll my eyes at Greg playfully. He knew that if he mentioned it in front of Amy, I would have to accept and so that's what I did, accept."Fine, you are speaking like you have a shop in mind already, why don't you just drive us there?" I shrugged my shoulders at him."With pleasure." The corner of his lips moved up in a smirk. That was how we ended up coming back home with a truck trailing behind u
I was only just noticing his outfit for the first time now. He was wearing a red T shirt and white sweatoahts. I noticed that most of his clothes revolved around the same style. He took my hand as we walked to his car. I wondered where the girls had gone, I wanted to thank them for not complaining that I was probably making them inconvenient and they had just been willing to let me have this time with Greg. The ride home was as I directed, my head was filled with thoughts on what I could do and everything that Greg had said to me. I sort of disliked how fast I was to forgive him but I thought he was being genuine."Should we stop by Amy's school to pick her up?" Greg asked he when we close to the corner of my street.I checked my phone for the time. "She still has an hour before school is over." I shook my head and so he proceeded to drive us to my apartment. We walked in and Greg took in the look of the empty room except for the presence of
The next day, the moving truck was in front of the house. I didn't touch the furniture, I was going to get that on my own and so for now we would sleep on the blankets that we had access to.Amy had a lot of questions and I promised her we would answer them later. She didn't push it and I was grateful for that. it was almost as if she could tell how stressed I was.Greg was nowhere to be seen and even though I wouldn't have accepted, a part of me really wanted him to come and stop us from leaving. This was such a sad ending for me.Moving from the house took us thirty minutes at most and it was another stressful thing to move our things into the apartment.I thanked Josh, the agent, for his assistance and finally settled in.I texted my roommates to let them know I would be coming to school from home daily now but they didn't question it. I was still going to
Greg looked up at me, if he was surprised to see me, he wasn't phased. The woman looked surprised though."Greg, what's going on?" I wasn't sure that the voice was coming from me.He looked at the strange woman and nodded at her. With a disapproving groan, she stood reluctantly and he came to me."You didn't tell me you would be around today." He started."Why? So you could hide the fact that you were making out with some chick?" My voice was barely coming up the surface but I tried to put my words out there."Why are you taking it that way?" He said like he was dumb."Why am I taking what in what way?" I couldn't make sense out of anything that he was saying."I wanted pleasure, I rented someone for the time you'd be absent, she doesn't even stay here." It was his lack of emotions that was getting to me."Greg..." I
