I instantly began to shake my head. "This can't be happening." My heart rate was increasing. We knew well never to be late for any event. We prioritised being prompt for our clients and especially for clients like Greg. I could feel it, I knew that I was doomed and there was no way out of this.

My fingers were shaky as I typed to let Vivian know. I was planning on avoiding it and just going there on my own but I knew she would know how to make things easier.

"What are you talking about?" She yelled into the phone as she'd call me immediately just so she could yell at me.

"I don't know how it happened, I'm so sorry." I groaned, "please contact them to let them know there's a delay with the situation, I'll be there in the fastest way possible."

"You get one good job and decide to fuck it up for yourself, fuck it for my brand. I swear girl, if anything goes wrong, I'm sorry but I'm going to lay you off for bringing us such a loss." She continued to yell at me, if only she knew how worse she was making things get for me. That was one thing I constantly feared having to hear. I didn't want to be laid off.

"I'll figure things out." I assured her even though I doubted myself.

I looked back at the card and realised why the address had been switched.

Mira.

It all made sense now, if Greg didn't care about who he had selected, he likely had no idea what I looked like and so if she showed up, he wouldn't question her presence.

Tears began to roll down my eyes as I booked the next taxi. I didn't want to tell Vivian just yet because I knew she would fire Mira but I told her to resend the address to me.

'Greg does not like phone calls but he isn't responding to any of my emails.' she texted me.

"Can you go any faster?" I told the driver of the taxi. He looked at me from the rearview mirror.

"I can't go beyond the speed limits, I'm sorry." He shrugged.

I sniffed and dried my eyes with the back of my palms. Mira knew how much I was fighting for custody of my sister. I had to be financially stable for this and fifty thousand would have done a lot for me.

I had a week left before they let families come have her.

"This is unfair." I cried into my palms.

It felt like forever but we got to the actual hotel. I didn't tip the driver this time. I just opened the door and sprung to my feet while he yelled behind me that I'd left my luggage behind.

I brought my phone out and called the phone number on Greg's card. It was a few more rings to voicemail when he picked up.

"Hi, this is Elena." I announced into the phone, panting heavily. "I know you are with someone else but I'm supposed to be your escort to this event, I have memorised everything in the script and there is a mix up." I rushed my words.

"This is Mr. Greg's assistant, what can I help you with?" The voice on the phone came back.

"Can I talk directly to him?" I requested, waiting outside the hotel.

"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't, if you have any message to relay to him, you will have to speak to me directly." He said conclusively.

I hung up and dialed Vivian immediately.

"Girl, I was just about to call you, Greg said that he is with you and you guys will board the flight in twenty minutes." She said. "It's their private plane..."

"No he's not." I flipped my wrist to see what the time was, "where's this airport at?"

"Avenue three. I'm so confused right kkw."

"He's with Kira, she stole my details and tricked me." I knew I had to let her know.

"What?" She gasped, seeming like she found it hard to believe me. "If that's the truth and he doesn't realise it, then just let it be so we don't get in trouble."

"Let it be? Viv you know how important this is to me." I began to sob.

"I'm sorry." She sighed, "I promise Mira will be punished on her return and I will compensate you the best I can."

This was bullshit, I thought. Without further ado, I waved one more taxi and headed to Avenue three. I had ten minutes to get there and I could still catch up.

I texted Sam to let her know what was going on and although she didn't respond in time, I could picture her angered face tearing through the screen.

The security guards refused my entry upon arrival. I pleaded and argued, refusing to leave and trying to push my way in.

"This is all a misunderstanding, I should be the one on that trip, why isn't anyone listening to me!" I cried.

One of the security men seemed to have enough as he pulled his gun out and pointed it in my direction, "ma'am if you do not leave now, I won't hesitate." That calmed me down but just then through the bars of the tall gate, I saw Greg walk by, a ton of security behind him and like I thought, Mira was casually tagging behind him.

That was all the energy boost I needed. "Greg!" I yelled on top of my voice.

He glanced in my direction and the look on Mira's face was beyond explanation. She looked like she had just seen a ghost.

Greg muttered to the men trailing behind him before he began to head in my direction.

I sighed in relief, hoping he would believe me.

"What's going on here?" He asked, looking at the men guarding the gates and then he fixed his eyes on the man whose gun was pointed at me.
