Chapter 07

Audrey:

Night came by quickly. I was still huddled in my room and had refused every food that was earlier brought to me. I was scared they had sprinkled something in there.

I yawned hungrily, and jerked up on my feet when I heard the creaking sound of the door.

I had expected another lady to walk in carrying a plate of food with her, but no, it was Alpha Valentino.

"You keep rejecting your meals." Alpha Valentino said.

I couldn't raise my head to stare at him because I was scared of doing so.

"I'm not hungry." I answered.

"Is that so? If you wish to starve for 7 days, I can help you with it." When he said this, I raised my head to stare at him. What was I even expecting? It wasn't like he was going to be soft on me, and ask me why I was repeatedly rejecting the meals.

As he tried walking closer to me, my lips trembled before they uttered something.

"Please stop! Don't come closer please." I begged.

I could feel cold piercing through my skin, and I was almost at a point of passing out.

He didn't listen to me. Instead, he took another step closer to me. The fear in my eyes became more evident. I didn't have the strength to draw back from him, and so I stood at the same spot, watching him take slow and steady steps closer to me.

"What have I done to you? What did I do to warrant all of this suffering?" I questioned, my voice barely louder than a whisper.

When he heard me, he immediately came to a halt but was already 3 inches away from me. My hands were folded together as I tried stopping them from shaking, but they wouldn't.

He touched my chin, and it suddenly felt like the blood in my face was slowly draining away.

I clamped my mouth, waiting for him to say something.

"I will break you."

A sudden cold shiver went down my spine when I heard him. My body tensed up, and the fear in my eyes grew worse. I stared at him with hate.

"You make me sick. What the hell did I do to be fated to an Omega without any status. Do you have what it takes to become a Luna, a warrior by my side."

I swallowed a lump of saliva, but before it went down my throat, I had to struggle a bit.

My throat was hurting as a result of the countless times I had shed tears for the pain I was going through.

"It wasn't my fault. I didn't choose this life as well. I didn't choose to be mated to you, but I guess fate wishes to deny me of the joy that I desire."

"Fate!" He laughed out loud, with his fingers still on my chin. I stared at him, wondering what the hell was so funny with what I had just said.

"Fate doesn't exist." He whispered to me.

I could see hate in his eyes, but at the same time I saw pain and the refusal to heal up from the numerous pain battling each other in there. I looked closer in his eyes but I didn't know he had greater pains.

Something had happened in his past, but I didn't care. All that I wanted was to leave, to run away and be free from his torment.

"The damn thing called fate doesn't exist. You shouldn't give excuses for your bad luck." He said, letting go of my chin. The tears that brimmed my eyes escaped as he let go of my chin and took steps away from me.

The door was opened, and a young lady carrying a tray of food walked in.

"Now eat. You'll be serving me soon." He said as he touched the door knob. In less than 5 seconds after he had instructed me, he walked away leaving the door wide opened.

I collected the meal, and took a seat on the bunk bed while she sat down watching as I munched on it hungrily.

He was right.

I could see myself as nothing but bad luck. After all, my mother had died while she was with me in the fields.

Valentino:

As I walked out of the room, I headed straight for the hall where mu beta was awaiting my presence. He had mind linked me earlier that there was something really urgent.

As I walked into the hall, he came rushing to me.

"Easy." I said watching him pant hard a bit. He nodded his head.

"What's wrong, Seth?"

"The southpaw pack are refusing to back down, and they won't do that easily without a fight."

"Is alpha Kyle aware of my offer?"

"Yes alpha. Our men are keeping an eye at the boarders of the two pack, and we have some already killed while some were nabbed during the night."

I clutched my hands into fist.

"He's asking for a fight isn't it?" I greeted my teeth, with veins visible around my forehead.

"What should we do? With your permission, a fight will begin. If we keep staying calm, he'll take us for nothing but fools. He's the only one who isn't afraid of you alpha." Seth suggested, but it wasn't time for that yet.

"Tell everyone to back down, I'll go myself if another attack happens." I said.

"I'll go with you, alpha."

"Wait till I give orders."

He nodded his head, and then walked towards the door. I watched him exit the hall. When he closed the door behind himself I walked towards the large window where the lights of the moon were penetrating.

Lycans like us don't exist anymore, and if they do, they're really rare and hard to find.

I am the last of its kind right here in New York, and the most powerful. They call me the lord of the wolves.

Alpha Kyle holds a huge grudge against me, and if I can remember vividly it's been two years now. His mate had fled away from him after so much torture. She had gone through hell before she came to me for help, but I refused her.

He still believes I helped her escape.

As the memories of the past hit me, I shut my eyes tight not to recall any of it or see her face anymore.

I was slowly feeling the pain all over again. I was slowly drowning in the past all over. I suddenly began feeling that bond with her.

That uncontrollable bond with Audrey. It was unexplainable, but I wanted to kiss the mark around her neck.

"Why the fuck are you doing this to me?"

With my powers and level of strength, only a mate that would match my level of strength was who I was meant to be mated to, but I was given the damn opposite of it all. If I accept the mate bond, then it would make me weak, and I would be risking my status as well.

I knew this was an intentional act by the moon goddess, but I long believed she does not exist anymore.

Damn!

I groaned as the pain of my refusal kept hurting me so much. If she becomes my Luna, then part of my strength would be gone, and I would become weak, probably like the other alphas.

I needed to fight this, and whatever she had called it "Fate."

I found myself unable to fight the urge anymore. It was all as a result of the damn mark on her neck.

I walked out of the hall and began marching towards the room I had earlier left her in. Along the passageway, I could feel something wrong.

As I opened the door, I couldn't feel her presence anymore. The room was empty and there was no one in it.

"Audrey?" I called, but there was no answer.

"Shit." I cussed as I walked out of the room. There was no fucking way she could hide or escape from me. No damn way. The possession in my eyes was beyond my control.
