Chapter 3

My cheeks heated up, and I quickly turned my eyes gaze away from him. It was extremely hard to keep up because I could still feel his eyes on me.

I tried to focus on something else. I glanced up and met Fiona staring dumbfounded at the Lycan, her eyes turning to look at me, then back at him, before finally settling her eyes on me, her eyebrows pulled together in a frown while she clenched her fists by her side. I knew she must hate that I was getting attention from someone else, especially the Lycan.

I raised my hands in defeat, so she would be able to tell that I didn't know anything of this either.

I saw her walk toward a bunch of her friends and then the frown she wore was replaced with her classic smile, every time I saw the smile and never end up well. Maybe I should ignore all these things, just get back and pretend nothing happened hereif I ignored this bitch, it would all go away. I was too tired to care about her or her never-ending deviousness. Also, I wished Nancy still here.

I tried to focus on other things that didn't have to do with her. "Sheila!" My aunt called, approaching me where I stood.

"Yes, aunt," I stood upright in fear.

"Lycan is hungry, I need you to go into the kitchen and ensure that the Neal is served appropriately." She frowned, "why are you still standing there! Get going."

"Yes aunt." I nodded and hurried into the kitchen, wondering why she would want me to do this. There were a lot of servers available, she didn't have to make things more complicated for me.

"Who is in charge of curating Lycan's meal?" I asked the first server I saw. She raised her hand in defeat and shook her head. They were all wearing black aprons. I looked around the huge kitchen, arched roof, glass walls, multiple stoves sections for washing the dishes, and tried to find a head chef.

"Excuse me?" I tapped the shoulder of another omega, "I need to serve the Lycan's food and..."

"Stop bothering me, I have so much work to do." She groaned. Ugh great.

I decided to curate a meal on my own, took out our finest china and scooped a spoon from each menu onto different plates, arranged them on a tray and took it to him in shaky hands.

"What took you so long?" My aunt was waiting for me by the exit. I hastened my steps to where the Lycan and his friends were seated. I tried my best to avoid eye contact as I set the food on their table.

I was pouring him a glass of wine when my hand started to tremble as their eyes bore into my skin.

"Relax," One of his friends held my wrist and took the glass from me, "I'll take it from here. Not waiting for further instruction, I hurried out of there and returned to my corner, where no one could see me or bother me.

"Hey," a deep voice called next to me after a moment. I jumped in my seat, startled, no one had talked to me all day, other than Fiona and her parents, no one had a reason to.

Furrowing my eyebrows, I looked up to meet the face of one of the omega waiters that was serving drinks at the party. Was I in trouble? He had a tray in his hand that carried a few drinks.

"Care for a drink?" He had a sweet smile on his face, how could I say no to this sweet smile? No one treat me well after all. Besides, all that work had made me exhausted and thirsty and the most important thing was I could pretend someone was caring about me even though he was only doing his job.

"Thank you," I nodded, and he handed me one of the glasses before disappearing from sight.

I took the glass of wine down in one gulp and let out a sigh of pain as images of Nancy fluttered through my head, I couldn't stop thinking about her, what had she done exactly? Where did she go to take her life why did she end her life like that? I didn't want to think about it, but the scene kept coming back to me.

Maybe I was thinking too much, but it was suddenly too hot to handle in the large hall. I looked around me, and it seemed like the crowd had doubled in size.

I tried to use my shirt as a means to fan myself but it wasn't working. No one else seemed to be feeling this heat as they carried on regularly with their conversation.

I staggered to my feet, almost losing balance twice in ten seconds. I gripped onto a chair and tried to keep myself on my feet. What was happening to me?

It was way too hot, I needed to leave this place and go somewhere that was much cooler.

I was going to lose my balance a third time when a strong pair of hands caught my shoulder from behind me, "are you okay, miss?"

"No… I mean yeah," I put my hand on my forehead, "I'm just trying to make my way upstairs, I need to be somewhere cool."

"There's a room on the second floor. If you don't mind my help, I can take you there." He offered to me. It was strange to witness someone being so kind to me, even in a hazy state of mind.

"Certainly, I'm so grateful," I tried to force a smile. I was going to do anything at this point just to get out of here.

He was really good with keeping me on my feet, and so I followed after him carefully as he led me upstairs away from the rest of the guests, whose loud chatter was now posing to be a problem to me in the form of a headache now.

We made it all the way to the second floor. It was a hallway with multiple doors lined in a linear form from left to right on both sides of the hallway. The decorations for the party had extended to the hallways, probably for guests who were staying over.

Maybe I wasn't in the right state of mind but the hallway seemed endless, "wow," I chuckled nervously, "so many rooms to choose from."

"Come on, this one's empty," the strange man left my shoulders and held my hand, pulling me towards the first door on the right without waiting for me to say anything in the agreement. I mentally wondered how he would know that.

There was a giant-sized bed in the middle of the room and that was all I could pick as the dizziness continued to set in, "thank you, you've done so much already," I sighed, this was definitely a good place to rest.

I thought the effects were from losing Nancy and not sleeping all through the night, that was the only reasonable explanation.

I plopped against the bed without thinking and pulled the sheets over my body. I furrowed my eyebrows when I noticed his figure was coming towards the bed.

"Um… you can leave now," it was a struggle to say anything now as the pressure was growing even more in this small room.

But he didn't leave, instead, he came closer to me until he was at the foot of the bed.

"Who are you?!" I tried to sit up but before I could, the sheets were forcefully yanked away from my body. "What are you doing? Get away from me!"

"Is that a nice way to speak to the nice man who offered you a drink?" I noticed a smirk on his face, both of his faces because I was now seeing double from what was going on with me.

I recognized he was the waiter who had given me the drink. How could I have missed that? There were a lot of questions in my head at the moment, why would he want to do this?

"Stay away from me…" I cried as he laid on top of me, placing my hands above my head and securing them there. "Don't do this to me! Let me go!"
