One kiss

The entire night was sleepless for Azariah. She couldn't even close her eyes for more than a nanosecond.

What if's were eating her alive and a prayer was constantly chanted by her lips.

"God, let him choose whoever he wants but let that not be me," is what she was repeating again and again.

But sometimes our prayers aren't answered and the reason behind this is for our betterment. What we want isn't always good for us, it might bear devastation for us.

Her case was kind of similar.

Another pair of eyes were looking at the moon. They were icy blue and has one ocean amount of deepness in them.

"I don't know what you have stored for me but I have been accepting everything you have thrown at my way till now. I always trusted my life with you. Don't do something that might break my trust," is what was going inside of that heart.

The night decided to leave the whole world under the hands of the day.

The fest started and unmated females from all of the packs joined.

Only one goal was to win the heart of Alpha Ace, the strongest Alpha to exist.

As strong as he was, his reputation wasn't trustworthy.

He might rule the entire world but he couldn't protect his soulmate who was killed by an unknown guy.

The rumor says that he killed that guy after and his death was extremely miserable.

To people who haven't seen him, he was as old as time, has a bad posture, and was really ugly looking.

He was known for his dislike of women. They say that he enslaves them and later punishes them according to his desire.

They also said that as much as he disliked women, as a man, he also has needs. To fulfill his needs, he would use women as tissue paper. Use them and throw them out after.

If someone is unwilling then he would force himself on them. But despite everything, lots of girls were more than fine with throwing themselves at him.

They were ready to fight for his attention. And the sole reason was the power he has.

The girls were holding their breath, waiting for his arrival.

"The Alpha of Alpha's, Alpha Ace is here," someone said and all of the eyes went to where he was about to enter.

But to their disappointment, no one was there.

"Due to some issues, the Alpha can't come here but he has sent his right hand here. Let's welcome him," that same guy said and Azariah's brown eyes collided with a pair of icy blue eyes.

"There's also another change in the rules. The female beta will tell you."

Everyone started whispering.

"We are going to sell all of you to the nearest pack's Alpha," their female beta said.

Gasps could be heard and Azariah thought that sounds of protest would be heard now.

But to her utter surprise, everyone seemed more relieved.

"In this way, I would get more time to impress the Alpha," one of the girls was saying to an older lady.

Azariah guessed that she was her mother. The older lady smiled and nodded her head.

It didn't surprise Azariah at all. She was used to everyone being shameless.

A few other girls were talking among themselves. Despite being disinterested, her ears were eager to know what they are saying.

"I heard that the Alpha doesn't want girls that are already touched by someone else -"that's what she heard before making the most important decision of her life.

She had enough. She was done listening to whatever her parents said.

They told her to join this fest and she did so, just like an obedient daughter but getting sold?

It wasn't in their deal. She doesn't know what destiny has stored for them.

She doesn't know if she will ever be able to free herself from this cage or not. She decided to believe in herself and make the first step towards freedom.

She saw the same handsome guy with icy blue eyes coming towards them and without a second thought, she kissed him. It was love at first kiss for him, the start of their journey.

Her lips were just pressed against his. She could feel how moist and cold his lips were.

This sensation was different and new to her yet she didn't hate this.

She actually liked how it was. She felt like keeping her lips like this forever.

His lips felt like ice over sunburn. She found peace and comfort through them.

The guy closed his eyes, feeling her lips. They were a little chapped yet they didn't feel bad.

Both of them were still trying to understand this weird sensation with closed eyes while the entire world was going crazy.

Everyone started whispering again and this time, they were full of criticism.

They were saying how shameless Azariah was and how she was going to face the worst situation due to her bad decision.

They didn't bother looking at themselves. The same people who were ready to sell their daughters for an uncertain status were now criticizing someone else for doing something wrong.

Wrong doers were badmouthing the other wrong doers for doing something wrong in a different way.

This entire thing was laughable.

Azariah's parents saw this entire thing and her mother looked like she was about to faint.

Well, she ended up fainting. Her father was still standing there like a statue and he couldn't believe what was going on.

Azariah and that guy parted away. He was looking at her like he has found his love.

Well, as shallow as this sounds, he did fall for her at that moment.

The oh-so-normal brown eyes has captured his heart and he was now willing to forever stay with her.

"I am taking her with me and only her. The others can go back," he said and one of the pack members asked who he was.

"Ace, I am Ace."
