☆☆LILA☆☆

I sat on the edge of the bed, thinking about Kai.

Selene had caught him. She wasn’t suspecting it; she knew.

If she knew, then Rowan would soon know too with time, unless Selene kept it a secret, which I certainly hoped she would.

The door opened.

I didn’t look up.

I didn’t need to. I knew he was the one standing at the door. He closed it behind him, letting himself in. He stood at the doorway, just watching me. His presence made me uncomfortable.

I exhaled slowly. “You can stop

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 118: The Truth

LILA'S POVI pressed the cloth against Rowan’s side when he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His fingers moved across the screen, and I watched him for a second before looking back at the blood soaking through the cloth.“Can you call me Selene?”“I already called someone.”“Who?”“My guard. He’s coming for us.”I frowned. “Us?”His eyes lifted to mine, and there was something almost amused in them despite the pain on his face. “You think I’m letting you stay behind after what just happened?”I glanced back towards the ballroom, but there was no point. People were still shouting, guards were moving through the hall, and Selene was nowhere in sight. After what I had seen between her and Kai, I had a feeling she had enough to deal with.Rowan’s guard arrived a few minutes later, and the moment he saw the blood on Rowan’s shirt, his whole expression changed.“Alpha.”“I’m fine.”The guard looked at him.“I can see that.”Rowan gave him a warning look, but I almost smiled

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 117: Selene and Kai

LILA'S POVThe moment we stepped back into the ballroom, everything had already fallen apart.People were running in every direction.Someone was shouting for the guards. Another person was dragging an injured man away from the centre of the room while two wolves tore into each other near the entrance. Glass was everywhere, glittering across the floor beneath the flashing lights, and the music had stopped completely.“What the fuck happened here?” I shouted.Rowan grabbed my hand.“Stay with me.”I held on tightly, but someone crashed into us from the side. His fingers slipped from mine.“Rowan!” Before I could reach for him another body shoved between us, I couldn't see anything except the people around me.I pushed through them, calling his name again.“Rowan!”My heart was hammering as I looked around.Theo was nowhere.Selene wasn't anywhere and neither was Kai.Where the hell had everyone gone?I pushed past another group of people and nearly stumbled over a broken chair.“Rowan!

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 116: Sneaking around

LILA'S POVI had been standing beside Theo for what felt like hours and every few minutes, someone else came over to greet us or ask about the wedding, or tell me how good it was to see me back where I belonged. I smiled and answered them politely.Mrs. Renalds made it particularly difficult. She was seated with some of the elders, watching me over the rim of her glass with the same expression she'd had the last time she'd spoken to me. Her eyes travelled over my dress, then my face, and settled there for a few seconds before she looked away.I pretended not to notice, I had bigger problems.Selene.I needed to speak to her and tell her about what happened with the mark maybe she can explain it but every time I looked towards her, there seemed to be someone standing nearby and Theo's hand had not moved from my waist even for a momentThen, when I finally got a clear view, I saw Selene slipping through one of the side doors.I watched her for a moment to see Kai followed her a few seco

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 115: The Gala

LILA'S POVBy the time it was Friday, I was more than tired of being stuck inside. The dress Nanny Rosa had picked out was hanging in front of me, a deep wine colour that fell softly to the floor, and I stood in front of it with one earring in my hand while staring at my reflection.I should have been thinking about the gala.Instead, I was thinking about Theo's mark againI needed to talk to Kai.There had to be another way to prove it. Something besides staring at Theo's chest and wondering whether I had somehow lost my mind. If he really was the cursed Alpha, surely there was another way to confirm it.Theo wouldn't lie about something like that.Would he?I dropped my hand to my side, I was more than conflictedA knock sounded at my door.“Come in.”Theo stepped inside. He stopped when he saw me, he simply looked at me, and then a smile slowly spread across his face.“Wow.”I glanced down at myself.“Is it bad?”“Bad?” He let out a quiet laugh. “Lila, you look beautiful.”He walke

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 114: Locked In

LILA'S POVI didn't sleep much in the night every time I closed my eyes I kept on remembering the mark, it was definitely not there at first but when I pointed it out then it appeared out of nowhere I was tired of being inside without doing anythingAs much as I hate to admit it, I miss training with Nyx. It was good.I need to take a walk. I'll lose my mind from thinking, I slipped my shoes on and walked downstairs, already reaching for the door when one of the guards stepped in front of me.“Sorry, Miss Lila.”I stopped.“What?”“We were instructed not to let you leave the premises.”I stared at him.“By who?”He hesitated.“Theo.”I actually laughed because surely he'd misunderstood.“He told you not to let me leave?”“Yes, ma'am.”I looked past him at the open doors, then back at his face.“I'm not asking you to drive me somewhere. I'm just walking outside.”“I understand, but the instructions were clear.”This is ridiculous, I was about to start screaming when Nanny Rosa appeared

  • MARKED BY DECEPTION    Chapter 113: Doesn't Feel like home

LILA'S POV“What happened to your mark?”Theo's eyes moved over my face, and for a second he looked like he didn't understand what I was talking about. Then his gaze dropped to where I was staring.“My mark?”“The infinity mark.” I pointed towards his chest. “It was there before.”Theo looked down at his shirt, then he reached for the collar and pulled it aside, exposing the skin beneath it.I leaned closer. There was thereMy eyes moved over his chest again, at the dark infinity symbol he had showed me that day. “See?” Theo said quietly.I didn't answer, I was sure it was no there a moment agoHe let his shirt fall back into place. “Are you doubting me now?”“No.”“Then what the hell is this?”I looked at him.Theo's expression had changed, he was definitely more angry“What lies has Rowan been whispering in your ears?” he asked.“Nothing.”“Lila.”“He didn't say anything about you.”Theo watched me for a moment.I rubbed my fingers together, suddenly wishing I hadn't asked.Maybe I

☆☆ LILA ☆☆ I stayed upstairs for a long time, watching people move around like busy ants through the window. Even though I was away from all the bubbling and preparations, I could still feel the weight of their excitement pressing against me. After a while, I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed

☆☆LILA☆☆ After a week of Selene treating my leg, it was almost as good as new. The stitches were gone, and the pain had faded into nothing more than a dull ache whenever I walked too fast. Which meant there was absolutely no reason for me to still be here. Selene was packing up her medical supp

Nyx stood beside him, arms crossed, her expression cold. The moment she saw me enter, she stepped aside and nodded. Jake didn’t bother to move. Nyx wasn’t only my Beta she was also the best fighter in the pack. Jake slowly lifted his head. His eyes were bloodshot, his breathing uneven. “Alpha.
