CHAPTER 4. WHO IS JESSIE JAMES?

“Thank you for coming to me. I don't know what I would have done,” I said, trying to break the silence between us.

“Could you believe that sonafabitch?” He replied as he turned to me. He seemed a little pissed off.

“I'm sorry I even had to take you to somewhere like that” he said. At this time, he didn't look piss anymore. He looked rather concerned.

“Okay” I muttered.

The rest of the ride home continued in complete silence. By the time we got home, I was exhausted. He made us bath together, and then we got in bed.

“I want to eat you out, tonight, "he said with a small smirk.

“You seem a bit tired. Leave it to me” he crawled over to me. I smiled. Maybe I could really use this right now. He spread out my laps. I helped pull down my panties.

The pleasure was immersed. This was the first time my husband really made me feel this good. I let out a soft moan.

I woke up the next morning feeling much better. My husband was still asleep at that time. We were literally facing each other. I was confused if I still wished to continue with the divorce. I mean, he was treating me too good, and I'm already beginning to like him.

I got up to go to the kitchen to prepare his breakfast.

Few minutes later, he joined me at the dinning table.

“Good morning” He greeted as he made his way to the chair.

“You better eat fast else you'd be late for work,” I responded.

“Yess ma'am” he chuckled.

The rest of the day without Chris was boring as hell. I kept mesmerizing about last night. The flashback. It was perfect. I had a silly thought of cooking lunch and bringing it over to his workplace or probably just show up there with lunch or better still, during his lunch break, I'll take him out to have lunch together. I know the thought was silly, but part of me just misses being around him.

My phone rang, disrupting my thoughts. Strange number. I was hoping it was Chris, but at the same time, Chris never calls at this time of the day. I picked the call anyway.

“Hello” I spoke first.

“This is Jesse. Jessica James” the voice replied. It was a female's voice. She sounded calm.

I've never heard of that name. “ How may I help you, though?” I replied.

“Chris… You stay away from Chris” Her response left me dumbfounded. This was bizarre.

“ Hold on… Sis, I am his wife, so I don't understand. This is insane, girl. You don't just call someone's wife and ask to stay away from her husband” By this time, I was already pissed off.

“Just listen to yourself. It's screaming desperate!" I blinked my eyes uncontrollably.

“He never told me he was married. Is he?" I could hear the sarcasm in her tone.

“I thought you were the mistress” she continued.

“In contrary, you're the mistress, so you stay away from him instead,” I blurted out. I didn't even let her say any more words before I ended the call.

That was crazyy. Aria? A mistress?

I was furious. I couldn't wait for Chris to get back home, he had a lot of answering to do. At the same time, why am I even furious at all? I'm not concerned about this person, I mean in a month from now, we're over, so why all this fuse?

The door creaked open. It was my husband and already back from work. I was in the living room watching my favorite evening show when he came back. I didn't say a word to him, and neither did he. Through side eye, I watched him enter the kitchen and came out with a bottle of water and a glass cup, then he came over to the couch.

“Mmmh how was your day?” He asked as he took another gulp.

“Good” I replied with a glare.

“Who is Jessica James?” I asked. I just couldn't hide it.

“A friend at work, and why are you asking?” He replied.

“You know what's funny? You go around telling these girls you ain't married that's why they're all over you, " I said.

“ And since when did you even start to care about what I do?” He returned the question.

“Where's all this coming from? See, I had a terrible day at work, do not add to it” He added.

“Jessica called me this afternoon and warned me to stay away from you” I said calmly.

“Uh, uh? So what? Why's there a fuse?” He questioned.

“Why is this such a big deal to you? Isn't this what you've always wanted? Isn't this why you've been pressurizing me for a divorce paper?” He asked again. I couldn't say a word. Maybe he was right, and I was the one making a fuse out of nothing. I mean, why do I even care about what's going on in his life?

“Wow!” I didn't say another word, I just went upstairs.

I laid on the bed crying. I had no idea why I was crying? Am I jealous? Am I falling in love with my husband?

This just doesn't make sense to me. One minute I want a divorce, the next minute I'm confused if that's what I really want.

An hour later, Chris came inside.

“I apologize for earlier” I apologized.

“I am currently not in the mood to talk ” he responded.

“I had a terrible day at work. We lost a contract. My friend Lucas was rushed to the hospital and I don't even know if he'll be fine, and I come back home and my wife's questioning me about Jessica James. Honestly. I am so fucking tired and drained” Chris said, accompanied by a small sigh.

“I am sorry” I apologized again.

There was no reply. He was already snoring. In no time, I slept off too.
