Bye bye to college

'' You mean the handsome prince charming you met last night asked you to marry him ?" Matilda asked her eyes about to bulge out .

" Stop being dramatic plus that man is probably drunk ". Olivia replied uninterested .

She has few days left for her to be a college student and that's the only thing that matters .

" You are such a boring one ! How can you not be interested in such a beautiful marriage proposal ? Do you know how ladies suffer to get a man to hand them a ring these days ?" Matilda continued obviously not backing down from the conversation .

Sometimes Olivia gets tired of her friend's over active imagination and thinking .

How is she supposed to feel about a stranger's marriage proposal ? 

" Listen Tilda .....that man is probably drunk and why the heck should I care about what ladies go through to get a stupid ring on their finger ? Marriage sucks ". 

Matilda just stared at her friend with utter disbelief .

" Because your parents didn't work out ?" Matilda asked gently and she felt the heat of her best friend's anger rise.

" The fact that they didn't work out does not mean you'll end up like them ....." She quickly add in .

" Let's just discuss something else " Olivia responded .

Matilda shrugged ,she's used to her friend dodging the conversation .

" It's been five days and this your beautiful and feisty cinderella hasn't contacted you , I'm sure she didnt take you serious " David who is intentionally trying to get on the nerves of his friend said.

" I can't believe she didn't even try calling me " Christopher replied .

He had never been rejected by a woman before and this one is definitely testing his patience.

" You should have gotten her number instead ....I can't believe you told a woman you just met to marry you and contact you if she is interested ,I mean who does that?" David said laughing heartedly and rilling up Christopher's anger .

" Shut your mouth young man " . Christopher replied and shrugged .

" That means she's off the table ,I have few weeks left before Grandpa's deadline" he continued .

" Well ....it means we need another option " David said and Christopher nodded at him.

" Accidents has been happening too much on the street ,don't you dare ride bycicles when coming back from school " . Olivia reminded her brother once again .

" Stop nagging my son ,he's not a little boy" their mother yelled from the kitchen .

" I love you mum ! " Robert yelled and ran out of the house .

"Whatever" Olivia muttered letting out a small laugh.

Few hours later.........

" Why wouldn't Robert return home mum ?" Olivia asked her mum who paid no attention to her .

" I told you to stop worrying about this boy as if he's a child ". Her mother replied still paying her no attention.

" You spoil him too much mum and that makes me worry sometimes ". Olivia replied .

" You were like him too back then when you were still in high school ,you were such a headache". Her mum said laughing heartedly.

" That's not true .... Robert is......"  Olivia was cut short because her phone started ringing.

She brought out her phone and sighed when she saw the caller's id 

Speak of the devil.

"Hello!  Is this Robert's sister ?" An unknown woman voice asked .

" Yes ....what's wrong with my brother? Why are you  calling with his phone ?" Olivia asked .

" Your brother was involved in an accident while riding a bycicle and he has been rushed to the hospital ". The woman answered and Olivia sank into her knees .

" I told him not to ride a bycicle ......mum .....I told him .....why wouldn't he listen? .....why ?" She cried uncontrollably .

Few hours later.........

Olivia sat down alone outside the hospital her head bowed in her hands .

Thankfully her brother is out of danger but at the expense of her college tuition fee.

They had to carry out an emergency surgery on him and she had to give up all the money she had to save up for years .

She cried uncontrollably .... she knows it's selfish to still feel this way because she gave up the money to save her brother's life but her dream of going to school , getting a job and taking care of her family is down the drain.

The fact that it's a bye bye to college made her cry the more.
