MARRIED TO MY ENEMY

“Miss Julia Knight, Do you take Mr. Nathan Blackwood as your beloved husband?” The officiator asked as Julia looked at the man in front of her throw her veil, wondering how she got here, never in her dreams or even nightmares did she ever think that she will be getting married to the person that she hates the most.

“Do I have to do this?”  She whispered to the officiator  who smiled.

“It is the clear procedure. Please answer”

“I do.” Julia rolled her eyes and replied nonchalantly.

The officiator  turned to the groom, “Mr. Nathan Blackwood, Do you take Miss Julia Knight as your beloved Wife?” The officiator  asked as Nathan glanced at Julia, “I can’t believe I am forced to do this.” He mumbled, “I do.” He responded.

“Then I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” The officiator  continued as their face turned ashen, “I am not doing that, you should move on to the next thing.” Nathan refused plainly.

“You know the reporters are here and you have to at least give off the energy of  a married couple, Or do you want your parents to replace you with another  heir.” The Officiator which happened to be Nathan’s secretary reminded them both with a smile on his face.

“Sometimes, I can’t help but wonder if I am the one paying you or my  grandpa.” Nathan glared at him and then turned to Julia. He couldn’t hide the obvious disgust that he had on his face and Julia was the same. To her, this is the worst thing that has happened to her.

“Just be quick with it.” She glared at him.

Nathan moved closer and lifted the veil that covered her face, he looked at the breathtaking yet annoying face, he face moved closer to her as he planted what could not even be called a peck on her lips, then they both moved away from each other as if there was some kind of parasite on them.

Despite the claps and cheers from the guests, there was a total different atmosphere at the altar.

Two weeks before the wedding.

The sun beats down relentlessly, casting a golden glow over the landscape. Isabella Wilson adjusted the umbrella that was covering President Julia as they entered the company. Seeing her coming, the company entered a state of disarray as no one wanted to be caught off-guard.

Julia knight, CEO of Knights technology enterprise stepped into the company’s lobby, her icy gaze sweeps across the room with a hint of disdain. Her slender figure clad in a tailored white suit, walks through the crowd with ease until she got into the elevator.

 “What’s the schedule for today?” Julia asked her secretary, Isabella.

“You cleared your schedule.” Isabella reminded her once again.

“I cleared my schedule for today. Why?” She turned around and asked Bella who was already used to her forgetfulness.

“I guess you forgot that you are supposed to have dinner  with your family.” Bella reminded her as Julia looked even more confused.

“I thought those two were travelling around the world.”

“Well, they are back to the country and I remember telling you that clearly!” Bella sighed but Julia nodded, already thinking of a way to skip the dinner this time around.

“And you are not allowed to skip. Your mom said that there is something important that she wants to talk to you about, and you are not allowed to skip. Do you want me to quote it the same way she said?” Bella asked as Julia rolled her eyes.

“So that’s why you cleared all of my schedules… It is nit like we are some kind of happy  family.” She mumbled as Bella shrugged and walked beside

Just as the elevator door opened, she made her way to her office when her assistant walked up to her in a hurry,” What is the matter?” Isabella asked the new assistant that was just hired.

“There is a guest in the CEO’s office” The Assistant replied. Bella glared at her coldly as she could already see the end of this.

Seeing the unwanted guest in her office, Julia’s eyebrows furrowed, her gaze became direct and piercing, she walked up to her seat without a word of greeting to those in her office, “Bella, prepare the severance pay and let her clear her office by the next one hour” She ordered Bella who nodded and shook her pitifully at the new assistant who has messed up once again, “let’s go” She turned to the assistant and left the office, closing the door behind her.

The assistant who is yet to register the reason why she was fired looked at Isabella confused and felt the need to ask, “What exactly did I do wrong?”

“Did not you read the manual that was given to you. Page 8, ‘No one is allowed into the CEO’s office without her permission, especially that man and his daughter.’ Go to the finance team and get your severance pay. The fact that you worked here will be able to get you a new job easily” Isabella patted her shoulder and walked into her own office.

“So, to what do I owe this unwanted visit? Seems like you enjoy having my assistants fired one by one. And people will think we are close if you keep visiting me like this” She sits with a relaxed yet contemplative air, her body language conveying a sense of thoughtful amusement. Her hands were clasped together, with palms crossed, and her fingers intertwined, forming a wedge that supports her jaw.

“You are my niece, why should I need a reason to come and see you?” Mr. Benjamin asked her.

“If you are here to ask me to give your daughter a place in this company, then once again you are going to receive a straight rejection from me” Julia rejected him again before he could state his reasons for coming.

“She is your cousin. You accept strangers into your company but why can’t you accept her?!”

“Because the strangers worked here for it and your daughter clearly did not. I have given you an option, let her go through the normal process and I am sure she would mess it up too. And most importantly, I am not planning to give her a place in my company even if she follows the due process, so she should not bother trying at all.” Julia clapped her hands lightly and opened her computer.

Mr. Benjamin, fumed at her words “this is a family company, are you trying to take It all for yourself and your brother. How could you even think of doing that?!”

“And that is where you are mistaken. This company is the hard work of my mom and Dad, and you all do not have anything to do with it. So, it is just my family’s company and not ours. I hope you heard me loud and clear.” She made her position clear to him and hit a button on the telephone in the office, “Mr. Benjamin would like to leave, come and escort him out.”

The next moment, Isabella walked in, “Mr. Benjamin this way” she said to Mr. Benjamin who stood up and glared coldly at Julia who did not give a damn about him.

After he left, Julia concentrates and finish up the files that were left on her table. With that she did not know how much time have gone. When she raised her head again it was because, Isabella walked into the office, “What’s the matter?” She raised her head and asked.

“Your dinner with your family is by 7pm.”  Isabella reminded pointing at her watch.

Julia sighed and shut down her system as she stretched her body, “Instead of that dinner, I will prefer going to bed.” She sighed as she stood up and picked  up her windbreaker.

“I hope tonight goes well, I don’t want to meet your foul mood tomorrow.”
