CHAPTER 3

Aria

Branches scraped my body as if they were dissatisfied with what I had done. I was on the verge of stripping nude since the dress I was wearing had left blood trails down my arms. The woods were dark, and I anticipated anything to come my way.

“I'm tired," White whispered.

I looked up and saw another shattered moon, this time in two different colors: black and gold. I had no idea what that meant because I had never seen anything like it before. But my curiosity could not override my bleeding heart, with each breath feeling like a dagger to my chest and every movement aggravating the pain.

Shadows could still be heard pursuing me from behind. I couldn't even tell which would kill me at that time.

“They’re near Aria. We need to go quicker," White's words resonated in my mind, instilling pressure.

My innocent wolf was not comfortable, prowling beneath my wounded skin, her melancholy not mixed with wrath. Even when I wanted to give up, she was everything I could not be at the time: determined, tough, and unshakable. Too bad neither of us was favored by fate when our luck ran out.

Twigs splintered beneath my feet as I hurried down a moss-covered slope. The woods had become a tangle of thorns and illusions, with each route taking me further into foreign territory. My power surged irregularly, still raw from the severance. I could feel it spilling out of me like a wound, attracting everything evil that thrived on sadness.

Then—the earth gave way.

I let out a scream as I slid down a camouflaged embankment. My body crashed through vines and tangled roots before colliding with water—cold, furious water that consumed me like a monster.

The torrent roared, draining the air from my lungs and the thoughts out of my mind. My limbs flailed uselessly, dragged by the torrent, and smashed against stone and rubble. The cold was intense, a cruel grasp drawing me into its depths.

As my fingertips sank beneath the surface, I thought, "This is it." Let it end here.

Let the moon forget me. Let White be free. Let the pain dissolve.

Darkness clawed at my mind. My body floated, weightless. The world blurred into silence. I surrendered.

But the river had other plans.

Strong hands seized my shoulders. A clear, feminine, demanding voice cut through the fog in my mind.

"Thank goodness I found you first; wow, look at you wounded yet glowing, just like the prophecy said," she continued.

The world snapped back.

As I was dragged to the river, I coughed violently, and water flowed from my throat. Mud caked my fingers. I struggled for oxygen like a baby, gasping in the frigid air. The moon shined dimly through the clouds, illuminating a figure standing above me.

A woman with a bead around her head and clothes.

Not just any woman—her aura vibrated with raw, untamed power. Her eyes were mismatched: one violet, one silver. Her long black hair stuck to her face, wet like mine, though I sensed she hadn’t fallen into the river. She wore a black robe embroidered with inscriptions I could not recognize and bones I did not want to examine.

"You have awakened something dreadful," she murmured, crouching next to me. “That kind of magic hasn’t touched these lands in centuries.”

I shuddered, pushing myself up with what little strength I had. “Who…who are you?” I managed to ask.

The woman bent her head and examined me as if I were a jigsaw puzzle with too many missing pieces.

"This is the last witch standing. And you, small Luna, have disrupted the peace I had established for myself, yet everything is good."

She sighed. "I had to find you the moment the moon sent us a sign because you are what many people have been waiting for. It is a shame you got a jerk for a mate."

I blinked at her in confusion. “You know about—”

“I know everything the river tells me. And it was shouting your name before you even got in."

I tried to rise with what little energy I had, but my legs crumpled. Without hesitation, the witch grabbed me and put her arm over my shoulder.

"We can discuss after your lungs stop attempting to suffocate you. Let us leave before something less kind than me smells your fragrance," she said as we began walking.

We walked—or she half-dragged me—through a little trail of glowing mushrooms and dismal thickets. Her presence appeared to alleviate the unnatural coolness, yet the unease in the air continued.

We arrived at a cabin buried deep in the forest, surrounded by moss and ancient magic. Smoke curled from the chimney, and little shimmering wards pulsed around the doorway.

“Home,” she muttered. “Not much, but it’s safe.”

Inside, the warmth hit me like a wall. The fire ignited on its own as she helped me onto a little bed near the fireplace. Dried plants hung from the ceilings. Skulls adorned the shelves—wolf, deer, and one I did not dare to inquire about.

"Drink this," she urged, passing me a steaming cup of something horrible. “It’ll keep your soul from fraying.”

I sipped and coughed. “What is this?”

“Mostly healing. Slightly disgusting. But it works.”

We sat silently for a minute, the fire casting flickering shadows on the walls. Finally, I looked up.

“Thank you… for saving me.”

The witch rolled her eyes. “Don’t thank me yet. You’ve brought death’s scent to my doorstep. The bond you broke resonated throughout the world. Even the dead have woken up, but your abilities are—."

“I had no choice. He betrayed me,” I explained

"No, you had a choice," she remarked sternly. “And you chose to break fate.”

"He shattered it first," I said softly, my voice breaking. “He chose power over me.”

The witch’s expression softened slightly. “Yes… but power has its price. And the creature you summoned—Eryx, which feeds on broken bonds—is now watching you. Waiting.”

White stirred restlessly in my mind.

“She’s right,” she growled. “I felt him when the blade cut. A hunger like we’ve never known.”

The witch leaned closer, her voice low. “You severed a soul-deep tie. You broke the Moon's will. That doesn’t just go away. Eryx will hunt that wound until he feasts or is destroyed."

I stared at the flames, my fingers curling around the cup.

“Then I’ll destroy him first.”

The witch laughed softly. "Brave words for someone who almost drowned in a river. But... perhaps there’s hope. You’re powerful, Aria. More than you know. And you’re not entirely alone anymore.”

I met her eyes. “What’s your name?”

“Catherine,” she said. “Banished witch. Shadowkeeper. River’s daughter.”

I nodded slowly. “Then I guess we’re both outcasts.”

I smiled grimly. "Let us show the world what misfits are capable of."

Outside, the wind howled again. But this time, I didn’t flinch.

The storm was coming. And this time, I’d be ready.

CHAPTER 178Aria I was about to take my nap when the door opened and I jumped out of bed, hoping to see Zion with my babies, but he was empty-handed. Behind him were Patricia, Thea, and Bruno, who had worried looks on their faces. Nothing had to be said. I could already tell what that meant. They didn't find the person who stole my babies. My tears had already stood ready to fall on my face.“No, babe, it's going to be OK," Zion said, pulling me into a hug while kissing my head, but that wasn't enough.“Aria, it's going to be OK," Thea said, holding my hand, but I just couldn't help but cry more.I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't stay in that hospital knowing my children were in danger. I needed to get out of there and go find my babies.“No, I need to go," I said, wiping my tears, about walking out of the room when Thea blocked my way while Zion pulled me back.“Babe, where are you going? It's not safe for you to be outside," Zion asked.“I'm going to find my children, and you s

CHAPTER 177Aria I don't know why I started feeling weak after taking a glass of water that the nurse gave me. I wasn't really thirsty but she insisted that it would be helpful. Thea had gone to get the pack house ready for my welcoming, so I just looked at my babies one more time and closed my eyes, not knowing things would be different when I opened them again. My babies were stolen.“Aria, Aria," the doctor kept calling my name, and no matter how hard I tried to wake up, something just seemed to be holding me back.It was as if I had been tied up from head to toe. I could feel and hear how they kept calling me, but I just wasn't able to wake up until I heard Zion's voice.“Aria!" his voice echoed and I immediately opened my eyes.“Ah!" I let out a painful scream before looking at Zion then Thea.I could tell that something bad had happened. I looked at the side where my babies were lying but there was only one.“What?!" I looked at Zion in confusion.“Where are my children?" I a

CHAPTER 176Aria I don't know why the coldness coming from Zion was nothing like him at all. I first thought he was joking, but when he asked me to withdraw from anything related to the Pack as we move forward, and only focus on the pregnancy.I was totally shocked. I didn't feel the presence of the man who once made me feel safe, and all I could hear at the back of my head was Claus's last words.Could I have settled for a traitor?I made my way out of the room and headed outside where I found Thea and Jordan. The moment they spotted me. The smiles on their faces vanished and even the twins decided to walk away.I felt so bad. It was like they didn't know me anymore. A weird noise started coming from outside when I went to see what was happening before Zion held my arm again.I turned around fiercely this time only to realize that he was on his knees with the brightest ring I've ever seen.“I know I've been acting strange, but this just couldn't wait, Aria. I was scared and didn't

  • MOONBOUND: LOVE BEYOND THE BOND    CHAPTER 0175

CHAPTER 175Aria “Please forgive me," Claus said as Zion held his hand. That moment was the most awkward. I could feel White trying so hard to get me to kick Claus.“Aria, that man doesn't deserve mercy!" she shouted.“You need to get rid of him before it's too late Aria," she said again. For a moment there was a total silence before the ground started shaking. It was Exryx trying to break free from the chains Catherine had placed on its legs." Let me go!” it kept shouting but Catherine just kept doing the chants."Are you OK?” Zion asked me before Thea brought Claus some water.I could tell that she was forced to bring it since she wouldn't want to bring water to the same man who always wanted to ruin us.“It's time Aria gets ready," Catherine said and I just stood there wondering what would come next. The chains that locked Exryx broke and he was now free. Slowly walking towards me as its figure started getting bigger. Catherine kept telling me not to fear. This was the worst for

CHAPTER 174Aria I was about to channel my deadliest powers when Exryx vanished and Claus fell to the ground. I could hear him begging for help but it couldn't be possible.“Aria please save me, it'll kill me,” Claus begged."Why should I?" I responded looking at him.“Look, I know I've hurt you and regret everything I did to you,” he started."I shouldn't have chosen Camila over you Aria. I'm sorry, please forgive me,” he begged.“Did you forget who got my innocent mother killed?" I asked him.“I swear I was forced to do it. I regret everything, Aria, please, for the sake of what we once shared, forgive me," he said, sitting on his knees, tears running down his exhausted face.“I can't. You deserve everything you're going through Claus Sawyer. I gave you genuine love and friendship you wouldn't find twice, but you left all that for power, maybe this is the prize," I said while he was shaking his head.“Aria, please don't do this. Everyone has betrayed me, and you are the only loyal

  • MOONBOUND: LOVE BEYOND THE BOND    CHAPTER 0173

CHAPTER 173Aria “What did you just say?" I asked Catherine after she uttered the last news I was expecting. “It's true, Aria, you're pregnant," she repeated. I was still on the rooftop with Zion, who looked at me with wandering eyes. How was I even going to tell him what Catherine said? The timing is just so crazy. Beasts like Exryx could tell when a pregnant woman was close to them, and I now needed to make sure my baby and I made it out alive.“Is everything OK?" Zion asked.“Yes I'm fine just a little tired from—”" Let me go handle that beast, babe,” he said, as it was more than he was seeing.“I'll need to work with you if you're going to stay in Zion. That down there isn't Claus. There's a beast inside waiting for me to make a wrong move so it can get to me," I said.I could tell Zion really wanted us to be over with everything busy happening. It was as if Exryx didn't exist but I knew he was hiding. The physical world was seeing Claus, but in the realm,s, it was Exryx. Th
