CHAPTER 2
Aria The moon had split and its light was now dim. I could hear everyone's panicked cries coming from the corridor, but that was not my worry now; it was a matter of life or death for him or me. I just felt pain and the echo of Claus's words. "Power Aria! Power is what I want. Can you give me that?” He chose power above fate, but what I am about to accomplish transcends both. The moon was now full again but its light was still dim. Shivers ran down my spine but that wasn't enough to withhold me from what I would be doing. My hands shivered as I lifted the obsidian blade, something that had not been seen for centuries because it could only mean life or death but tonight it would be for both. There was nothing to live for because my love was a traitor, and my poor heart wouldn't recover from this because, after this act, I wouldn't be the same Aria again. I thought he knew I could give everything to him but he still went to take another woman. Now I'll show him what I'm capable of. Without hesitation, I'm going to choose myself. “I, Aria Knight of the Nightshade Pack…” I whispered, my voice cracking like frost on the bark. “...reject the bond of fate. I sever the tie given by the Moon. Let him be nothing to me.” I could feel White screaming from the inside eager to take control as my decision was something irreversible. The blade sliced through my palm and blood dripped into the rune's center. The ground beneath my feet shuddered before a scream came from within from White. It cracked the stones and sent every bird in the trees flying as a strong wind blew causing some trees to be uprooted. The moon suddenly turned red for a moment and then split before sealing again. Dark mist rolled across the grove, and shadows emerged. Tall, twisted spirits with hollow eyes were awakened by the bond's destruction. “You have murdered a soul,” one hissed, its voice the sound of rustling bones. “No,” I whispered, collapsing to my knees, “I saved mine.” From the trees, the Council’s guards appeared, drawn by the quake and magic. “What have you done?!" one of the elders shouted in terror. “Moon Goddess has mercy on us," another cried. “There! The Luna!” someone cried. “She’s done it—soul severance!” “By Luna, exile her! She’s cursed us all!” “Yes, she needs to go; our pack is cursed now." “This is an abomination. How can you do such a thing after our Alpha announced his engagement?" “Please, she’s grieving—she didn’t know what she was doing!” I heard my Mom beg. “We don't care about that, don't act like you don't know what she did is going to our pack." “Yes, we can't keep her here; take that girl out of here!" they shouted. "Aria we need to go!” I heard White say in fear. "Aria, it's Tina. Can you hear me?” Tina asked, her voice shaking. "Yes what's—” "You need to go to the Alpha's coming here with his men; you need to go to Aria,” she said, and I quickly got up and ran into the forest. My broken heart was beating fast, and the echoes of the shadows that had followed me. I was so tired yet couldn't stop as it felt like Claus's men were getting closer. I couldn't risk being taken back to him. It was almost midnight and I looked up at the moon. Its color was not back to normal and the trees in the forest were different. I could tell that I was in a different territory by just sensing the smell around there. I slowed down and sat under a large tree to catch my breath. I closed my eyes but opened them immediately when I saw how Claus's men were looking for me. “White, I'm sorry," I apologized, but she was silent. "For what? You know I'm also mad at what our mate did to you.” I felt horrible knowing we left the only home we had because a stranger was chosen over us. I was deep in my thoughts till I fell asleep without knowing. “Aria wake up!" I heard White scream before I jumped. “Are…are they here?” I asked before noticing two male wolves standing in front of me. I wasn't scared as I could tell that they weren't from Nightshade. “Who do we have here?” A larger one sneered, tongue rolling out. "Something we could enjoy if we're careful enough,” the smaller muttered with a sick grin. "Don't, don't come close to me,” I warned as one was about to take a step closer. “Relax we don't mean no harm just trying to—" I quickly blocked the larger one with the hand that had the cut and the next thing I saw was him going to fall at a tree that was far from where we were standing. “What the—” "Do you want to come close too?” I asked the smaller wolf before it ran to help the larger one get up. “Who the hell is she?" the larger one asked getting up while I walked towards them with lighting eyes. “Please spare our lives we're just rogues that —" “The next time you come across a she-wolf don't try what you were attempting otherwise I will—” "Please don't,” they beg now already transformed into their human form. “Go and don't even look back or tell anyone about what had just happened," I said before they vanished into the forest. I took a deep breath and took a look at the hand that just released the powers I'd kept hidden for years. It was healed but the pain in my heart was still there. “Aria, we need to go; this place isn't safe; they are closer!" White said and I knew she wasn't lying.CHAPTER 81 Claus I was in a deep sleep and then woke up when a cough made me choke. I noticed that Camila was not on her side of the bed. I reached for my phone and checked the time and it was midnight.Where could she have gone so late? I wondered.I was about to get out of bed when I heard two voices chanting from the balcony. No! I was about to have that nightmare again. I pinched myself just to make sure I wasn't dreaming before slowly moving towards the balcony. The closer I got the clearer I could hear Camila and Mike trying to summon all Luna—born powers.I managed to lay my eyes on them and it was the last thing I ever wished to see. They were dressed in their witch attire and I wished I could unsee that. They kept doing the ritual, but it wasn't yielding; it was as if something was holding them back.“Aren't you doing it right?" Mike asked Camila.“Maybe we made a mistake somewhere," she responded.“No, I think someone is watching us," Mike said, looking in the direction I
CHAPTER 80Aria Moonshade Blade. A unit we managed to form with rogues, outcasts, and cursed wolves. They all agreed to join this fight against Nightshade.I was now in the battlefield training with them when the twins sneaked in.“Are you sure you can do this?" I asked while behind.“We'll try to look," Sia responded, giving an example of how we were doing the kick.It wasn't exactly what we did like but I could tell they'd learn with time."Hmmm, I see,” I smiled and then looked at Tia."I can too,” she said about doing the kick but fell.I quickly picked her up with a fright and held the scratch on her body tightly until it faded as my healing powers worked their wonders."Woah, that was fast, Aunt Aria. How do you do it?” Sia asked.“I don't know sweetie, it just comes naturally," I smiled, pulling her cheeks.“Will we also get to heal others like that?" they asked in unison."Yes, you'll, but when the time is right,” I assured them. The only difference is that theirs could be a
CHAPTER 79Camila I can't stand Claus any longer, especially now that he couldn't stab that bitch right in that damn chest. All he had to do was listen to my instructions and leave his damn emotions aside. I'm already threatened by Aria being alive. “What happened?" Mike asked after closing the door and putting the room under a spell that wouldn't let anyone from outside overhear our conversation. “He was damn close yet hesitant. I couldn't even manipulate the moment as I could feel the presence of the powers and needed to make the hypnosis spell play her," I explained. “That jerk, I wonder how he gets to think that he is fit to rule all these Kingdoms. We need to do something," Mike responded. “What? That bitch can burn a person alive and is probably going to be shielded double now that Alpha Zion is head over heels for her,” I explained. “That's so true but there has to be a solution," Mike responded before a call from Thea came into my phone."Hello,” I answered from the oth
CHAPTER 78Claus The pain I'm feeling is nothing compared to the shame I feel. I was defeated by an Alpha from a cursed land. My pack is looking at me like a disaster right now.“You had the chance but made it all slip," Mike commented standing beside my bed.“I kept telling him to cut but he wasn't hesitant," Camila replied.“That bitch!" my Mom cursed.“It's so bad I wasn't here otherwise I would have made sure that none of them left alive," Mike reacted.“I wish you were here too, that bitch burned my back," Camila said.I needed to get some sleep so everyone left before I covered myself with the blanket."You're such a loser,” Exryx laughed."You couldn't even hold a knife to her,” it added.I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep even if I forced myself. I tried to awaken my healing powers but nothing was happening.“Ginger, what's going on?" I asked my wolf but it gave no response.“Ginger, I know you can hear me," I said again, but he didn't reply.I knew it was because of what I
CHAPTER 77Zion "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen," I murmured into Aria's ear as her eyelids closed.“Do you want me to finish or not?" she asked.“Please proceed, madam," I said as my face was covered with joy.Aria was just everything one would wish to have. My heart beat quicker and quicker as she placed her hands on my forehead. My wolf, Pine, was dying to have her so bad.“Goodness her scent," he whispered.“Please don't start," I responded in my thoughts.“Are you OK?" Aria asked.“Yes I'm fine," I smiled.Healing powers engulfed us and I was back to normal the moment she moved back.“Are you OK?" I asked, holding her hand."Yes I'm fine, I was just a little nervous,” she responded. We entered the living area and discovered the twins watching cartoons. Aria asked if we could join them and they were excited to let us stay. I suspected there was something they had witnessed before the kidnapping, so I asked."What was the last thing you saw before you were remo
CHAPTER 76Aria I was deep in the realms when the woodland illusion attempted to take possession of me. I somehow knew it was all a lie and needed to break the spell. I directed my energy into Zion's, and when our forces united, I was completely awake. When Claus lowered the knife, I grabbed his hand and used my powers to catch Camila.Zion kicked the door open and took Claus in his hands. I knew he was not going to take it easy on him, so I immediately made my way out with the kids.I took them to the car and requested Patricia to drive them away while I went to aid Zion. Camila had said a lot of horrible things to me, and I thought it was time to settle the score. After Zion finished giving Claus a lesson, Claus dropped to the ground, and we made our way out. I wanted to set the home on fire, but my childhood memories remained buried within.“Are you OK?" Zion asked as we made our way to the car while I nodded. He held my hand and kissed it. “It's going to be OK," I responded whi
