I ran as fast as I could, my heart beating faster than the tracks I covered.
"Please let me get there on time," I thought to myself.
I couldn't speak. Not when my own breaths were the only thing that could leave my lips.
I sped past the gate of the cemetery, staring at the numbers as I passed by each marking.
But my family didn't have the usual markings the other families had.
We were part of the elites, so we had some burial plots to our name.
But I had gotten used to the numbers. It was all because of Dad.
He told me about how the Packs used to be at war.
"Counting the numbers as I walked by made me realize how much we have lost," He would say when he took me to honor a fallen warrior.
Tears spilled down my face as I thought of who this new fallen warrior and Beta was.
Soon I arrived at the destination.
My feet slowed down as I took in the sight before me.
There was no one around. No chair filled with male and female wolves from the Pack crying. No men dressed in the Pack's warriors' uniform stood on a straight line ready to salute him for the last time.
There was no one at all. Not even the Alpha was here.
Except for the girl crouched in front of a gravestone, sobbing furiously.
That was when it hit me.
"No...no...no! No!" I yelled, a new wave of tears escaping the corners of my eyes as I ran towards the grave.
Louisa's head shot towards me as I got to the gravestone.
On it was the name of my father, Beta of the Pack.
I turned to Louisa. Her cheeks were tear-stained. But that didn't stop me from yelling at her.
"How could you Lulu?! Why didn't you stop them?" I cried out. "Why did you let them put him in before I got here?"
She didn't answer me. She just shut her eyes as she cried out.
I watched my little sister break down like a kid begging for a lollipop. I didn't know what to do next. But yelling at her again wasn't an option.
The school authority had insisted that we shouldn't miss school for our father's funeral. And we had no choice but to obey.
After school, I let Louisa take the bus since there was only space for one, while I ran to the graveyard.
I had instructed her to tell them to wait for me. I didn't want to put him in until I could say my goodbyes.
But I guess they didn't listen.
"I didn't have a choice," She sobbed. "When I got here there was no one. And the grave had already been shut."
It couldn't be.
I straightened up, a laugh mixed with sobs escaped my lips as I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Those bastards!"
They didn't show up for the funeral and they didn't give us a chance to say our goodbyes. They just left I and Louisa all alone like we weren't members of the Pack! Like my Dad wasn't the Beta of the Pack!
Louisa's sobs caught my attention.
I tilted my head towards her.
We were all alone now. No mother. No father. Just the two of us.
I was all she had left.
I remembered Dad's words before he left.
"I'll be back as soon as I can," He had said.
Liar.
He was just like them! A big liar!
But that didn't give them the right to trample on his last memories.
Not if I had anything to say about it.
I walked towards Louisa and grabbed her hand, pulling her up.
Who knew how long she had been crying?
I didn't know what to say to her. All I could do was pull her into my arms and let her cry into my shoulder.

"Let me go! Let me go you fish looking stupid wolf!" I yelled at the guard who held my hand and pulled me deeper into the Pack house.Soon, the door to the council room was opened, and I was thrown to the floor.
"Shut up, wench!" He growled at me, and I growled back at him.
He raised his hand, about to hit me when a command made him freeze.
"That's not how to treat the Late Beta's daughter," He said from a corner of the room.
It was Alpha Callum.
He had his back turned to us. But from the sounds in the room, I could tell he was pouring himself a drink.
I stood up and tried to pull my hand away from the guard's grip, but his hold on me tightened.
"It's fine. You can let her go," The Alpha said as he turned to us, a smirk on his face. "I can handle a little girl."
He swept me over as I pulled away from the guard once more.
"Mm—" He took a sip of his wine. "I guess you're not so little anymore. You've grown into a beautiful woman."
What the f*ck!
I didn't want to conclude, nor was I sure, but the Alpha's gaze made me uncomfortable. Like a predator staring at its prey.
But I didn't let it get to me. I came here for a reason.
"It's nice seeing you, little one," He added.
I scoffed. "I can't say the same about you."
He tilted his head, looking confused. He was about to say something, but I didn't let him continue.
"For a man who has enough time to drink, it would've been nice if you had put that much effort into honoring your dead Beta."
His smirk faltered for a second before he wore it back.
"It was a very sad event," He said, feigning sadness.
I couldn't help but let out a humorless laugh.
"That's it. Let's cut the bullshit!" I barked at him. "My Dad—your Beta and best friend died and you didn't show up or send a representative to cover up for your lazy ass at his funeral—"
"Watch your language girl!" The guard shot back from behind me. But I ignored him as Alpha Callum raised his hand to shut him up.
"You and the stupid school officials did... didn't...even," My voice broke as tears wanted to leave my eyes, but I held them back. "You stopped us from saying our goodbyes to him! You shoved him into the earth like some lowlife!"
A tear left my eyes and I wiped it off.
I couldn't hold back. Not after what they did.
"My Dad had put in so much effort to make sure this Pack held its head high!" I cried out. "He had sacrificed so much for you all even more than you can ever dream—"
My head tilted to the corner as the Alpha's palm hit my cheek.
"I don't normally hit women, but I wouldn't mind disciplining a child without manners," He said as he turned and walked towards his chair.
My legs went numb out of shock and I fell to the ground.
"Since you've decided to act like an adult, then I'll make you pay for his crimes," He added.
Silence settled over us.
"What... crimes?" I forced the words out of my lips.
He chuckled. "I guess you don't know."
I was confused. "Know what?"
He was silent for a while, an annoyed grin playing on his face.
"Your father was a traitor who plotted against his beloved Pack with our enemies."
"That's not true!" I yelled out. " He would never do that. He loves the Pack with all his—"
"Shut up," The Alpha roared.
I froze, pain spiraling through my whole body.
He had used his Alpha ability on me—his command power—one who anyone with an Alpha's Pack's blood could respond to.
"Since you've decided to come before me and disrespect me," He muttered as he glared at me. "You'll spend the rest of your life paying for your father's crimes."
Rapha's POV "Let me go," she hissed, venom lacing her words. But beneath that fire, I could feel the tremble in her hands. She was trying so hard to seem fearless.I let her go—but not before wrenching the blade from her grip and throwing it across the room. Steel clattered against stone, echoing louder than her heartbeat.I grabbed her, put her in a chair, and tied her up, ignoring her screams. Here I was expecting a bunny or two after I was told that there was a gift from Callum waiting for me in my room."Callum must really hate me," I muttered with a bitter chuckle, brushing imaginary dust off my shoulder as I took a step back. "Sending a pretty little assassin as a peace offering? I almost feel flattered.""I'm not an assassin," she snapped, glaring at me like she wanted to rip my throat out.I raised an eyebrow. "You tried to stab me the second I walked in. That sort of sends mixed messages, darling."The way she tensed at that word—darling—was almost too easy. I guess teasing
Gianna's POV I stared at the crumpled paper in my hand, tears rolling down my cheeks. The Alpha's guard—the one who had taken me to him—was sitting next to the driver. His name was Karl. Karl glanced at me from the rearview mirror every few seconds. Like he was keeping tabs on my every move.It wasn't like I had any other plans in mind except to see the bastard Alpha Rapha.I stared at the window pane as I recalled my conversation with Alpha Callum."You can't be serious," I had muttered. "You want to give to Alpha? As a gift? Why would you do that?"He let out a sigh as he headed for his seat. "Believe me, kiddo, it's not something I like either—" He sat down. "Apparently, the sensitive military information your father leaked had been used by Alpha Rapha to gain the upper hand in his battle to win the lands the lesser packs held. Now, I had to make peace with the man if I wanted to pave the way for further discussions of a possible sale."I thought about his words, but I didn't s
Gianna's POV "Louisa!""Gianna! Where are you?!""I'm here, Lulu!" I screamed as I spun around looking for her.It was too dark for me to see. But I could tell that I was getting closer. Her voice wasn't sounding as faint as it was before."Gianna, they're close!" She cried out, sounding frightened. Those words sent panic piercing through my bones."Who is?" I asked, but I didn't get an answer. "Lulu say something!"There was nothing from her. I couldn't hear her breathing, her voice, or her sobs. My hearing abilities didn't help at all."Lulu! Louisa! Where are you?!" The silence that greeted me back was louder than anything I had ever heard. And then suddenly—"Gianna! Helpppp!""Louisa!" I screamed as I jerked up from the cold floor.I turned around, eyes taking in the surroundings. The darkness was long gone, replaced by the stone walls of the Pack's prison.I had been locked up for three days, and those days have been torture to meIt wasn't like the Alpha or his men did anyth
