CHAPTER 53

RUBY’S POV

I stayed until dark with Dax. We had dinner together because he ordered in since he was a terrible cook and there was no ingredient for me to put something together and when dinner was over for both of us, he walked me to my porch and tucked his hands into his pockets when we got to my door.

“I don’t want you to go” he whined and I giggled before bopping the tip of my finger against the tip of his nose playfully.

“I can’t stay with you tonight, Dax. I already stayed long enough and that should be okay” I replied but I actually couldn’t stay because of Sally. I wanted to put her to sleep so I couldn’t spend the night with him… no matter how much he was going to persuade me.

“Fine. Goodnight baby” he cooed before he kissed me on the forehead and I felt my face warm up due to the endearment he used to call me before he took a step back and waved at me. Then he spun on his heels and walked away while I stood there and watched him, unaware that I was even doing that.
