Khalid couldn't believe that Perry made his wife his secretary. "Why?! Rumors will fly around when it eventually gets out that she's your wife!" Perry shrugged. "If she wasn't my wife, there would still be rumors." Then, he stood up and walked over to the refrigerator in his office. "Do you want a drink? Coca-Cola, maybe?" "Yeah." Perry took two cans of the drink and walked back to his seat. He opened the can and offered it to Khalid, which he collected. "Thank you," he muttered. Perry sipped from his bottle and then dropped the can on his table. "So, what's up with you?" "We aren't done with you, man. Why did you make her your secretary? Did she ask you to do it in return for the deal?" Khalid asked him curiously. "I mean, that lady I met doesn't look like someone who'd blackmail someone else. She looked innocent," he added. Perry chuckled. "Yeah, she didn't blackmail me, but she ain't innocent," he chuckled lightly as he said the last part of his sentence. His min
"What's going on here?" Perry asked Autumn, who was standing right next to him.? The whole conference room was disorganized, as all the board of directors seemed to be arguing about something. "I have no idea. I just came inside here too, just like you." Autumn replied to him, as she looked at him in a 'why are you asking me' manner. Perry cleared his throat and spoke at the top of his voice. "Decorum, please!" His voice resounded in the room and everywhere went silent for a few seconds as they all turned to look in his direction. But unfortunately, the silence did not last. As soon as they noticed Perry's arrival, they all rushed to surround him. This made him even more confused, as he wondered what could be happening. "What's going on?" He asked again. "Is it true you're married?" "We sure hope it's fake news!" "Tell us it's fake news, isn't it?" "How did you get married and director Moore didn't invite any of us to the ceremony?" "If he was truly married, the
Perry arrived at the restaurant where he usually had his lunch, together with Autumn. All through the drive to the restaurant, her mind was clouded, as she wondered and kept on thinking about what it was that Perry might want to discuss with her.? She warded it off at some point though, taking the thoughts off her mind. Their meals were served and they began to eat. Autumn, however, couldn't focus on her food, as her mind was on what Perry said he wanted to speak to her about.? She could barely enjoy the food because of how tense she was. Perry on the other hand looked calm and ate his food like he had no worries whatsoever. When she couldn't take it any longer, she voiced out her thoughts. "What is it you wanted to speak to me about?" Perry raised his head to look at her, then his eyes went down to her food. He noticed that she hadn't eaten much from it. "Eat your lunch first. I'm not running off." "The food isn't running away either, just tell me whatever it is and
The waiters rushed to meet Perry, judging by the fact that he was a well-known customer and one of their richest customers. Also, they respected him so much due to his popularity. "That's my secretary, I think she's having a panic attack," he said to them, a look of worry on his face. He didn't have much experience in that aspect, as he has never seen a friend or anyone close to him have a panic attack. The waiters joined him to hold Autumn, who was still struggling to breathe, he tried to calm her down, and the waiters that came to attend to them gave her a cup of water. "Let her have this, make sure she does, she'll be calm in no time," one of the female waiters said and handed a cup of water to Perry. He collected it and muttered a brief thank you to her, then he held Autumn by the arm and whispered to her gently. "Have this, you'll be fine." She gently opened her mouth and he helped her pour it into her mouth. He also urged her to take deep breaths so she could feel
Autumn couldn't believe her ears when she heard what Perry said. How could he tell her to tell her parents the truth? If her mother knows, she would never let her go on with the deal. "Do you even realize what you just said?" She asked disapprovingly. "What? You said she would figure out that you're lying to her, and then I told you to tell her the truth. So?" He asked her nonchalantly. Autumn was stunned, she folded her hand into a fist as she glared at him. If she could give him a blow in the head, she would have loved to. "What are you saying? You know quite well that we agreed not to let the public know about us! We promised not to tell anyone, have you forgotten so quickly?" His face drew into a frown as he stared at her as if she was speaking gibberish.? "The public? Aren't they just your family? Are they the public?" He questioned her and she shook her head. "So, what's the fuss about?" Autumn let out a sigh of worry. Perry didn't understand, and she had no idea
A smirk appeared on Perry's face as he watched Autumn draw up a shocked expression. He loved getting on people's nerves, and although he wasn't getting on her nerves right now, he loved the way she reacted. "Wait, do you want to propose to me?!" She asked as the realization hit her. Then, she covered her mouth with her hands almost after she let out those words. She looked around the restaurant if anyone heard what she said, but she was glad everyone went about their normal activities. She heaved a sigh of relief and removed her hands from her mouth. She then turned to face Perry, who still had a large grin on his face. "Hey!" She glared at him. "Why were you looking at my ring, uhn?!" She snapped at him. "Why do you ladies act like you don't know what's happening?" He asked her and she looked at him confusedly, as she was genuinely unsure of what he was saying.? "One minute you are smart, and the other minute, your brain dries out. Does it come and go in waves?" She
For the rest of the day in the office, everything on Autumn's mind was how she was going to drop the bombshell on her mum. She knew she wouldn't take it lightly with her, but at this point, she had no choice but to do it. When she couldn't take it any longer, she came up with a plan, she went ahead to take a break from Perry. She asked to take the day off to speak to her mum, and he freed her for the day. She left for home not quite long after. On getting home, she met only her sister, who was surprised as to why she came home early. Her mum, however, wasn't back from work. She changed to her casual wear and headed to the kitchen to make dinner. While she was doing so, her mum returned from work. Elise told their mum that Autumn was in the kitchen. When their mum had finished freshening up, she offered to join Autumn in the kitchen, but she refused, saying she wanted tonight's meal to be her treat. This came as a surprise to both Elise and her mum, but she didn't elonga
The stares that Becky and Elise gave Autumn made her feel uncomfortable. She cleared her throat and adjusted herself on her seat. Her eyes looked everywhere in the sitting room except her mum's face. She couldn't bear to look at her face at that moment as she wasn't sure what her reply would be. "Seems I didn't hear you right, sis. You're moving out?" Elise asked her again, trying to make sure she heard Autumn correctly. Autumn nodded her head slowly. "I knew it!" Elise exclaimed. "I just knew something was about to happen!" Elise stood up in front of her mum, arms akimbo, and said to her. "Didn't I tell you? I told you that Autumn couldn't just decide to be nice to us unless she had something up her sleeves! I told you, didn't I?" Becky rolled her eyes and replied to Elise with a serious expression on her face. "Leave my front, Elise. You're obstructing my view." Elise scoffed and walked back to her seat, while Becky continued watching the TV.? Seeing that her mum di
