NATHALIE’S POV
-
When I got my passbook from the bank teller, I checked its contents. A bitter smile touched my lips after seeing only eigthy dollars left on my bank account.
After all the important thing I have paid off the debt and I no longer owe monthly payments.
After leaving the bank and since I was already at the mall, I bought a chocolate cake.
“Ma’am, what should I put on the dedication cake?” The person who assisted me at this cake shop asked.
“Happy fourth wedding anniversary,” I answered the woman with a smile.
“Wow! Congratulations, Ma’am.”
“Thank you.”
After buying the cake, I also bought a platter of spaghetti. Joshua, my husband, told me he would be busy and would work overtime, so I wanted to surprise him.
He worked for a multi-billionaire jewelry company, therefore he was often busy and almost slept there.
We need to get better at work to pay off all our debts. I often help him with his works and other work for the company.
My surprises are sure to bring a huge smile to his face. Aside from paid our debt, I can get a promotion tomorrow if my presentation is successful.
I can’t wait to tell all the good news to my husband and this time we can start a family.
Upon arriving at the company, I signed first for the visitor’s lounge.
“Thank you,” I said, thanking the staff for giving me my visitor ID.
I headed straight for the elevator and, with office hours having concluded almost two hours prior, I saw no employees and reached the level where my husband was.
I surveyed surroundings and noticed an absence of people.
I proceeded to Joshua’s table and placed the food. The bag he always brought was still there, so that meant he hadn’t left yet.
“Ooh! Ahh!”
I looked where a woman’s moan came from.
“A-Ahh, baby!”
I walked slowly and tried not to make any noise.
Afraid to even hear my breathing, I hold my breath.
“A-Ahhh!!”
Arriving outside the office where the voice came from, the door opened slightly, allowing a glimpse of the occupant. My husband was visible on the sofa, between my best friend’s legs, both naked and both ejaculating, kissing each other as if they were so hungry for each other.
I couldn’t bear to look at them. They disgusted me.
I’m not certain how I walked with the tenderness I felt. I left that floor and went straight out of this company.
I took the first taxi I had encountered. When I got in, I told the driver my exact address.
How were two important people in my life able to do this to me? My husband is the only man who loved me and Hazel, the only best-friend since we were in middle school.
————
As I entered the house, I cried unceasingly. I filled every corner of the house with my cries.
Never in my dreams would I have thought they would do this to me.
I didn’t realize how many hours I cried and I just noticed my unfaithful husband’s arrival.
I stood up to talk to him thoroughly.
I am uncertain how to address him regarding what I witnessed, how to commence. I don’t want us to end up arguing.
I opened my mouth, but before I could speak, he spoke first, which I stopped.
“Our marriage is no longer valid.”
He took a folder from his bag and placed it on the table.
“Aren’t you going to explain why you cheated on me–”
“I don’t love you.” He sounded sure of every word he uttered.
My jaw was hanging in the air. My brain couldn’t process what he said.
He didn’t love me, he didn’t love me anymore. Those two are different.
He let out a sigh. “I saw what you left on my table, I presume you saw me and–”
My palm flew to his cheek. This was the first time my palm had touched his cheek like this.“You don’t even intend to explain?” I asked in disbelief while holding back tears.
“I don’t love you. What don’t you understand about that?” He asks irritably.
“You don’t love me? We’ve been married for four years. Why did you do this to me now? Of all people, why my best-friend?”
“Your friend can help me get promoted to general manager of the company. Have you got know on the position’s level and the salary it offers? If her mother resigns, they will help be the next general manager of multi-billionaire company.”
Before we got married, we separated for three years — after we graduated from college. He subsequently returned to me and, following our intimate wedding, he joined the company where Hazel is working with Hazel’s assistance and her mother.
Ever since he started working, I’ve been doing almost all of his reports, so it’s like I have two jobs, but all of my salary goes to paying bills and paying off his debt and his parents debt–which we owe because we got married.
“I don’t need your help anymore to do my job,” he said with a smile. “Hazel will help me get a higher position in that company.”
He stayed at his job for a long time because of me, because of my making his works. All this time, he just used me it to last at work.
“I should have given you this last month and told you,” he said without hesitation.
Last month, I stayed up several nights to do his fault reports. After revising several times, it was approved.
I didn’t even receive a thank you from him, thinking he was so busy why he forgot to say at least thank you.
Joshua removed the documents from the folder and handed them to me. “We’ve been divorced for over a month.”
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-“I’m very pleased with the sample design you did, Miss Davies,” Mrs. Nova complimented me once I presented the layout.“I won’t approve this,” said Mrs. Nova’s business partner in the restaurant, Mr. Zander Calix Watson. “Change all the fonts, the design, the colors — everything, including the logo design.”“Are you sure, Mr. Calix?” Mrs. Nova asked him.“Yes,” Calix said coldly and handed me back my iP*d. “It’s too hard on the eyes, difficult to read , and your photo editing doesn’t create an appealing look.”I took my iP*d, smiled at him and said professionally. “I’ll submit another sample layout tomorrow morning.”After that, I looked toward Mrs. Nova. “Would it be alright if I submitted a revised layout design first, Mrs. Nova?”“I think instead of me, you should send it to Mr. Calix’s email, Miss Davies.” Mrs. Nova suggested.“No problem.”“I cannot consent that,” Calix appealed. “I have traveled from Los Angeles to Florida for the sole purpose of seeing every
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-‘How sweet? Sitting under the stars and moon?’‘Don’t you dare keep staring at him.’‘Why did you agree to let him kiss and hug you?’‘My love.’I stood up and left the room after reading the unread messages from last night.I stepped onto the balcony, looked at the balconies next to us, then scanned the area down below.“Nathalie?”My phone slipped right out of my hands when Tyler’s voice reached my ears.“Nathalie?” He asked worriedly as he called. He came rushing to my side, asking gently, “Why have you gone so pale?”He stroked my forehead while holding my hand. “Your hand is stiff. Did something happen?”His eyes fell… upon my phone. On instinct, I grabbed my phone fast before his hand could reach it.&
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-While eating breakfast, I glanced at Tyler’s forehead. He doesn’t have a bump anymore.I didn’t send him home because I thought something else might happen to him.He was acting like he was drunk last night, could barely walk straight.I shifted my eyes to my children. “Baby, little one, are you two alright? Is anything hurting you?”“Nothing, Mommy!” they replied in unison.“By the way, until your car is fixed, I can drive you on your errands and take Brianna to school,” Tyler offered. “Her homeroom teacher and the school guard know me well as one of her legal guardians.”“Don’t say no,” he added before I could swallow the waffles I was eating to say no.After I swallowed, my phone rang where it lay beside my plate.Unknown number. It could be Fiona. But did
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-“You two look so happy together. If I hadn’t spotted that you aren’t wearing wedding rings, or if I didn’t know the truth… I’d think you were already married.”Attorney Fiona turned to the area by the wall and table, where photos of me and my children were on display, that almost half of the pictures we were with Tyler.“Every photo there captured you all with smiles that reached your eyes, especially the kids.”Attorney Fiona turned her eyes back to Tyler and me.“Merely being a good provider is usually not enough to secure custody. And insofar as being a good provider is concerned, both of you are on equal footing in this respect.“The best interest in this case is the welfare of the children. In this matter, do you recognize what works most strongly in your favor? It is your affection for the ch
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-Once we got home, I fed my children and let them rest in Brianna’s room.Since it’s Friday, I thought it best to keep Brianna home today. I phoned her homeroom teacher to explain what had happened. And I’m thankful the results of our CT scans were good; we don’t have anything to be concerned about.I left the room and went straight to the living room.I caught Tyler and attorney Fiona talking. She was the one Dashiell recommended helping us with my children’s legal rights.“Sorry for the wait. I waited until my kids fell asleep,” I explained to Fiona as I sat down next to Tyler.“No problem, Miss Davies. I understand. Also, when Dashiell told me that my client would be Mr. Tyler West, I cleared my schedule for the whole day.”I glanced at Tyler. He didn’t mention that he knew attorney Fiona.
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-I made sure Xander and Brianna were properly buckled in, then I got into the driver’s seat. After I started the engine, I looked at my two kids, especially Brianna.“Baby, how’s school?”“It’s fun, Mommy! We had a lot of time to play.”After getting Brianna’s report card, I found her at the playground.“Sorry, baby, if we have to go home early.”“I’m fine, Mommy. I’ll play with my classmates and friends tomorrow.”It made me smile to see her so happy at school.“Baby, is there something you’re not telling me?” I asked first — about what happened earlier. “Like a secret?”She pouted her lips, crossed her cute arms. “Hmm?” After a moment, she replied, “I don’t remember having a secret from you, Mommy.”
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-After putting most of my things in the suitcase, I left the room to take a shower.Right after I left the bathroom, I headed directly to the dining table.“Mom, what’s that smell?” I asked as I near the table.“What smell?” She asked in surprise as she approached the table with
NATHALIE’S POV-After reading the news articles and comments, I put my phone and bag on the bedside table. Most of the comments I read were curious about the appearance of his fiancée, happy and impressed by his speech, especially when mentioning about his child. There was no picture of Sir Calix
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-I gently wiped Brianna’s cheek.“If you only knew how much I miss you, baby.”She wrote on the tablet. After a few seconds she turned it to me, ‘I miss you too.’“I miss you so much, baby.” I kiss her forehead. “I’ll call Grandma Margaret first. Then...” I paused in my speech.I
NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-The people I had in mind who helped me are Sir Calix and Harrison, all the more so because Brianna is by my side.Yet, I’m holding out more hope that Sir Calix is the one who helped me. He’s waiting outside of the emergency room so I can share about our child with him.He may be
