TYLER’S POV 🍃-“And you, why do you look at her feelings like that?” He asked with a smirk. His question is nonsense but clearly hinting at something.“I’m not concerned about her.” I denied.“You said so.”“You know what I need from Sofi, so... That’s why things are like this.” I abruptly stumbled over my words and fell silent.“That, what, Tyler?” He ribbed. “Maybe you want something different from her now. I’m warning you–”“I won’t do anything to hurt her,” I declared firmly. “I’ll never bring her any pain.”“I’m not saying anything like that.”“I want to make it clear to you and to myself that I will never hurt her. I swear on my life, I’ll never cause her any pain.”“Why didn’t you just have someone investigate what happened to her?”“I want what happened to them to come from her own mouth, and I want her to trust me on that matter.”“Then?”I took another sip. “I’ll only believe her words.”“I don’t understand you.”I don’t understand myself either. I am eager to find out wha
NATHALIE / SOFIA’S POV 🍃-After we had breakfast, Sapphire stayed in her room to answer the questions we had studied with her the previous days.Since she can’t attend school for now, Tyler and I are tutoring her.If the day comes she can go back to school, she can take an accelerated exam.Xander, meanwhile, is resting in Sapphire’s room, having been overtaken by drowsiness while he was waiting for his big sister. After I made black coffee for Tyler, I went to the living room where he was waiting for me.I put the coffee cup on the table first and sat down.As he looked my way, he excused himself from the caller on the other line, hung up, and laid the phone on the table.“My friend called me. He got back from vacation and wants to meet up tonight. Is this my coffee?”“Yep. All I could make was black coffee. I ran out of creamer, and there’s no milk either.”He grabbed the coffee cup and blew with his breath. “I’ll go get creamer and milk for you. Is that everything that’s not her
NATHALIE / SOFIA’S POV 🍃-“Baby, you can speak again?” His voice filled with incredulity.“We don’t know you.” I denied.I took Brianna -- Sapphire’s hand, causing me to spill the food I had with me, and we grabbed everyone’s focus.“What are you talking about, you don’t know me? Nat, did you lose your memory too?”Instead of answering his question, I pulled my daughter and we walked past her godfather. The security guard opened the door for us so we got out right away.I placed the drinks I was holding on the table outside the restaurant and we walked as fast we could. While walking in a hurry, I flagged down a taxi, but no one stopped us.“Nat!”I didn’t turn to look at Harrison, and we kept walking without stopping.“Nat, talk to me. I know that’s you.”“Nat, wait!”We stopped walking when Harrison grabbed my arm with a firm grip, enough to keep me from walking.“So it’s you after all. Why are you keeping away from me? Do you not remember me? No, from the way you’re gazing at me
NATHALIE / SOFIA’S POV 🍃-I didn’t get much sleep last night. What happened -- when I saw Sir Calix -- was all I could think about.I wouldn’t have woken up at all if my phone alarm didn’t ring.I stood up, grabbed my phone, and turned off the alarm’s snooze function.Once I set my phone down, I started rubbing my temple -- the both one that’s been throbbing. My head is throbbing painfully, and I feel so light on my feet, it’s as if a single touch would send me tumbling down.I looked at my children in bed. Xander was sound asleep, while Sapphire had gotten up and was rubbing her eyes.I’d planned to approach Sapphire who was on the opposite side, but I jumped a little as I saw Tyler fast asleep on the carpet, lying on his single bed foam.I left him in the living room last night because he had an emergency meeting via video call so I lent him my laptop.I didn’t know he slept here.I continued to approach Sapphie and kissed her forehead. “Good morning, baby.”“Good morning, mommy.
NATHALIE / SOFIA’S POV 🍃-...... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ [ FLASHBACK ] ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~....I stopped walking, which made Sapphire, the one I was holding hands with, stop as well.I witnessed something caught my attention. A young man intentionally crashed into himself and pretended to be hurt. The female driver panicked and gave the young man money and then left him. After the car left and drove away, the young man walked away as if nothing had happened and went back to his previous spot and waited for his next victim.I’ve seen this sort of thing many times before it doesn’t feel new anymore. Sapphire and I have been walking these streets for a while now, and I’ve seen this kind of thing happen more than once -- in all sorts of ways.“Mommy!”I looked at my daughter, who already had black dirt on her face.“I’m hungry.”“Yes, baby. Mommy will find food.” I said, holding back tears. “Come on, let’s find a place.”I think it took us about an hour before I found a place w
SOFIA / NATHALIE’S POV 🍃-As I moved toward Calix, his face knitted with a frown as he gazed at me.“What do you need from me?” His voice is devoid of warmth, sharp and unfeeling. His voice: deep baritone, carrying a chill that might seem distant to others, but to me, it’s the sound I’ve been yearning for. Yes, this is him. Exactly as I remembered, yet somehow heavier with all the time we’ve been apart.“This isn’t a dream...” I declare, my words tumbling out in a ragged burst. “I wasn’t asleep, I wasn’t lost in some fantasy. I’m standing right before you. I can see every detail of you... This isn’t just something my mind made up.”I touched both of his cheeks. It’s him -- it’s really him. I’m not asleep, I’m not caught in some dream I’ll wake up from with tears in my eyes. All those nights of wondering if I’d ever get to see his face again, all those moments when I held onto memories like they were the only thing keeping me going… they’ve led to this. Finally, finally, he’s here,
