CHAPTER NINE

ALPHA DUNCAN’S POV

“Hey,” I said, causing her to startle.

Her face scrunched up in irritation, and she shout the puzzle book with a snap.

“What do you want?” She demanded, her voice cold.

“Just checking on you,” I said. “You’ve been cooped up in here all day.” I said.

“I’m fine,” she said, turning her back to me. “Now leave me alone.”she said coldly.

I knew that I had hit a spot and needed to be careful of the next word to say.

I tried a different method.

"Selena," I said softly. “Look, I know we’ve had our difference, but I want to make sure you’re okay. Can we just talk?”

“Honestly, there is absolutely nothing that we need to talk about. I hate you and that will never change.”

“While I’m not particularly fond of you, I think it’s best if we put our differences aside and try to coexist as cordially as possible. There’s no need to discuss the past and the kiss, and I’m not interested in arguing with you. Let’s move on.”
