By the grace of the Moongoddess I survived the embarrassment. I doubted that I would at multiple points but things turned out somewhat good. If I could discount the fact that it happened at all of course.

Not too long after the spirit animals returned. Oisin woke up just before it happened as if he could somehow sense it. I wasn't fully discounting that theory though. Maybe Kerrigan sent him a mental message.

Kerrigan flew into the clearing from the air first. He proceeded to drop the three rabbits in front of Phoenix. I was close by so I saw just how fast the eagle was. I wasn't even able to react to his speed. It was definitely nice that we happened to be on the same side.

Phoenix raised his eyebrows as the game landed in front of him. The rabbits were pretty decently sized. I figured that they could actually take our entire group for one meal at least.

But then Orlaith showed up. He had an entire deer in his jaws.

Rowena smiled when Orlaith moved into the clearing as if she had hun

I was shocked as Phoenix told me to follow him. Was he really going to reprimand me for ignoring him?No, that ridiculous. What was more likely to happen was that he would ask me about my shifting. And that was even worse.I stared up at him from my seated position. His face was calm and I couldn’t read any bad intentions in them. But I couldn’t use that to deduce anything about his intentions. After all it was still possible that he might want to do something that didn’t seem bad to him, but it was worse for me.I debated refusing him in that moment. But then I remembered how I had been ignoring him earlier. Why did I ever do that? It wasn’t like what he said when I was talking to him wasn’t true.I had been keeping things for him and I felt guilty so I ignored him.I didn’t want to do that again.“Alright.” I said as I stood up. Phoenix nodded and he led the way.I felt gazes from behind us as we walked a short distance into the forest. We didn’t actually venture far. I knew

I almost lost it when Phoenix turned to me earlier. I knew that he was going to ask about my wolf.I was a wolf but I had never shifted in front of him even once. Anyone would see that as extremely strange. I was actually somewhat surprised that Phoenix hadn’t asked earlier. It was shut a blaring oddity that you just had to ask.My mind spun quickly as I struggled to come up with some sort of lie to hide the truth. There was no way I was going to tell him about my wolf just like that. It was completely unstable now and I couldn’t control it when I shifted.Coming up with lie turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. I thought of telling him I was squeamish in fights, but I immediately discarded the idea. It was far too stupid of an excuse. I was sure that Phoenix could still clearly remember when I had attacked him when we first met. It definitely wasn’t my fault, because he basically kidnapped me back then. My reaction was perfectly reasonable but it still completely removed my

“Bait?” Carter asked. He was the first person to react to my words. “What do you mean by bait?” Rowena asked. “I mean that someone would have to accidentally run into the invocates and then lead a group of them away.” I said. I used my hands to emphasize the word 'accidentally' as a way to show that there would be nothing accidental about the bait running into the hunters. “But of course the effect will be a lot better if we can lead multiple groups away.” I thought out loud. “So if we have multiple people acting as bait then it might be possible for us to separate the invocates into three teams.” I said. “Do you really believe that the hunters will chase after three different people in three different directions with all their might?” Carter scoffed. I nodded, agreeing with him. Carter seemed a little shocked with how quickly I agreed with him but he regained his composure immediately. I saw it of course, but I wasn’t going to comment. My mind was occupied with other though

“Yes. It might actually work.” “What’s that?” Rowena asked. I figured out that I said my thoughts out loud. “Oh. I just came up with a plan.” I said. “We need to split them up to take them. That would significantly reduce their attacking power because they were trained to coordinate together. But if we do that then we will still be at a disadvantage. Three versus seven are very bad odds. But there’s a way to fix that.” I said. “What exactly are you thinking?” Carter asked. He was leaning forward from his seated position and he had a deep look of anticipation on his face. Everyone turned to him and his eyes widened. “Oh. Sorry I forgot. It’s not my business. But continue what you were saying.” Carter said. He leaned back and composed himself. Then he adopted an aloof expression that made him look as if he wasn’t interested in the topic. I glanced away from him. Even though I could see that he was clearly interested in the topic and that he was only pretending otherwise, I

I watched Morning for a few seconds.I had already decided to ask her about her shifting earlier. If she agreed to shift and assist in this operation, then it would give us an incredible advantage. She could single-handedly tip the scales in a tough situation. From the strength I had already seen Morning casually exhibit without even shifting, I was sure she was a powerful wolf. She could easily be the strongest wolf I had ever encountered. Of course, my experience was limited since my personal encounters with wolves were mostly limited to low-level packs. In high-level packs, the overall wolf strength would simply be higher. That was just how it was.So when I turned to Morning, I wanted to ask her if she was willing to shift to help with the plan. She could easily team up with someone less prone to combat and be a key piece in my ‘divide and conquer' tactic. But as soon as my gaze landed on her, she froze. It could have simply been the case that she wasn’t expecting me to address he

I gently lowered Oisin to a seating position on the ground. By the time I had done so, Rowena was already beside me.She bent down and took Oisin from my hands.“You shouldn’t have pushed yourself so much brother.” Rowena said in a quiet, solemn voice.“I could handle it.” Oisin said in an even lower voice. It turned out that he had regained consciousness already, and he clearly heard his sister’s admonition.I stood up. I wasn’t exactly happy with Oisin’s situation, but I was confident that he would be alright. I was already aware of some details of his ability. Rowena had the same ability too. From my understanding of it, they would fully take in the senses of their spirit animal counterpart. They could choose to mutually share senses or just adopt the sense of another. The specific options dictated the backlash.I looked at the sky. Kerrigan was currently gliding back towards us.It was a good thing that the eagle wouldn’t suffer much backlash from the move. Otherwise, if Kerrigan
