I walked with Phoenix into the stables. As soon as we entered, a few people who had been inside hurriedly went outside through the door. They were so rushed that one of them even brushed past me, I didn’t move but he didn’t apologize and he simply walked away.

“You aren’t from around here.” A middle aged man with a full beard walked out from behind a table counter. He had a thick cloth that he used to clean his hands, but he looked disheveled.

“No, but I want horses and I have money.” Phoenix said immediately.

“Sorry, I don’t have any horses for sale. Please leave my stables.” The man said immediately.

I was shocked at how quickly he dismissed us. But I gritted my teeth and made a very tight fist.

I knew it was all my fault of course. Phoenix already told me how I had been screaming just a few moments ago. That was why people were avoiding us now.

I never expected my wolf to actually be able to do anything. I thought I had her figured out and so I called her bluff.

But I regretted my

“Sorry, I don’t have any horses for sale. Please leave my stables.”I raised an eyebrow at the horse monger’s words. It was clear that he had horses for sale. In fact, I caught a snippet of conversation between him and the people who had run away. He was discussing a sale earlier. It was all a roundabout way to get us to leave.“Fine. But you will change your mind in a moment.” I told him.“Sorry again, but I won’t be changing any-.”The horse monger stopped mid sentence as I brought our my bag of coins. The coins shook and clinked with their weight, drawing his eyes. Although they were behind a bag, he could tell just how much it may be.“I want three horses. Good breeds that can ride hard for days.” I told him.The horse monger nodded. Even though he didn’t like us, money spoke volumes. I had to thank Dekle for leaving me some money at least.“I have three horses I know you’ll like. Sturdy, for the right price, they will be yours.”The horse monger was definitely very enthusiastic a

I glanced at Morning multiple times during our short journey to get horses. After I tried talking to her the first time, she went quiet again.I wondered how long she would keep avoiding me.I knew that she lied to me when I asked her if anything was wrong. But I came to terms with that. I wasn’t perfect and as long as it wasn’t something that was immediately endangering her life, then the last thing I wanted to do was to force her to tell me what the problem was.But I noticed that she had a furrowed expression on her face through out the walk as if she was thinking deeply. And her lips would part slightly from time to time as if she was about to say something but she never said any words or even looked at me even.I felt exasperated. What exactly was going on with her that she didn’t want to tell? Stopping myself from trying to get her to tell me was taking a massive amount of will power. But I kept reminding myself that I didn’t want to force Morning to do anything in our relations

Looking at the scene in front of us after Phoenix’s announcement, one would have expected to see a grand city in front of us, rather all that was there was more forest. “The town is just after a few more trees. We aren’t walking in with a giant bear.” Phoenix elaborated. It sounded like we would do things similar to how we did it last time.“Things will be different this time around.” Phoenix explained. “We are only here for some horses then we go straight ahead to the capital. There is no need to directly pass through this town so most us would be staying behind.”That came as a slight surprise to me.“I only need one other person to follow me. We would be getting three horses. We have some money but it isn’t unlimited.” Phoenix explained.“Three horses? But there’s five of us.” Carter pointed out.“Should you really be encouraging us to spend more money when you want payment?” Rowena asked with amusement in her voice. “Besides I have Orlaith so I don’t need a horse.”“The rest of u

I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was red.“Morning?” Phoenix called as his flaming red hair blower around in the morning wind.I sat up and touched my head. There was a slight ache.“What happened?” I asked as I looked around.“You don’t remember?” Phoenix asked as he squatted in front of me with a furrowed expression on his face.I shook my head.‘How can you forget so soon?’ A voice called from within me.My eyes widened as it all came back to me.Strong hands grabbed my shoulders. “Morning, are you okay?” Phoenix asked.I couldn’t let him know about this. Whatever was going on, I had to solve it myself. I already told Phoenix what happened to me in the past and he most like thought I was a broken girl. I didn’t want to further cement his opinion of me in that direction.“I’m okay. My head just hurts a little.” I lied, but I couldn’t meet Phoenix’s eyes.Phoenix’s grip on my shoulder relaxed. “Are you sure?” There was an undertone to his question. He didn’t real

Morning gave an excuse and quickly stood up from the midst of the campfire.I turned my gaze to her. Her eyes looked extremely distressed and she looked like she couldn’t focus on anything.I had also noticed just how restless she was all the while it took us to get here. Something was definitely up with her but she didn’t seem to want to tell me what.It actually hurt me. I thought we were past the point where we kept secrets from each other. But then again could I really complain. I knew that I also hadn’t told her the whole truth about me. I intended to, but I would rather we get over all of this first. That was why we were heading directly for the capital city now. I was finally ready to face my father however I could. Once I was done with him, then maybe Morning and I could really enjoy or time together. I had never felt like this before, but I knew that the attraction I felt to her was more powerful than I could imagine.Usually, I would have left her to sort her stuff out. If s
