Barry’s smirk lingered as if the whole world was a game only he knew how to win.

Lucy’s chest rose and fell as she searched his face. Her voice broke the silence, low and uncertain.

“How much did you hear?”

Barry didn’t answer right away. Instead, he tilted his head, studying her flushed cheeks and restless eyes like he was reading a book he already knew the ending to. Then, his lips curved slowly.

“Enough.”

Lucy blinked. “Enough?” she echoed, disbelief in her tone.

His smirk deepened, his blue eyes glinting. “More than enough.”

Her heart hammered against her ribs. She bit her lip, stepping closer without realizing it. “You… you knew she was cheating?” she asked, surprise laced in every word.

Barry’s shoulders lifted slightly, as if the question didn’t matter to him. His calmness only unsettled her more.

“I knew for a while,” he said simply, like he was talking about the weather. “I just needed enough evidence to stop the marriage from moving forward.”

Lucy’s mouth parted. She stared

The morning sun slipped gently through the tall glass windows of the dining room, painting the long polished table with soft streaks of gold. The air smelled of toasted bread, fresh coffee, and fried eggs, a mix that made Lucy’s stomach grumble even before she sat down. She had tried to sneak out to the garden first, her little basket of flowers already waiting by her door, but Julia had caught her halfway down the stairs.“Where do you think you’re going?” Julia asked with a playful lift of her brow.Lucy froze like a guilty child caught red-handed. “I was just… going to check the flowers outside. They need water.”Julia shook her head, looping her arm through Lucy’s and steering her toward the dining room. “Breakfast first. Flowers won’t wilt in the next thirty minutes. Sit. Eat. That’s an order.”Lucy groaned softly, her lips pressing together. “You sound like Barry.”“Good. Someone has to make sure you don’t starve yourself,” Julia teased, pulling a chair for her.Barry was alrea

  • Mafia's Captive Desire    On The Wrong People

The cold air brushed against Lucy’s bare shoulders as she followed Julia and Jessica up the front steps. The tall doors of the mansion swung open, and warm light spilled over the marble floor inside. The faint scent of polished wood and expensive wine lingered in the air, a sharp contrast to the heavy perfume Jessica carried with her.Julia kicked off her heels with a groan the moment they crossed the threshold. “Finally. I thought that party would never end,” she muttered, stretching her arms above her head. Her red dress shimmered under the golden chandelier light.Jessica trailed behind, her lips pressed tight, her heels clicking sharply against the floor as if each step carried her annoyance. “It was a lovely gala,” she said stiffly, her voice sweet but her eyes flat. “Some of us actually enjoyed ourselves.”Julia rolled her eyes, tossing her shoes into the corner. “Some of us enjoyed the free champagne. That’s not the same thing, Jessica.”Lucy kept quiet, hugging her arms around

At the top of the staircase, Lucy held her chin high, trying to mask the storm in her chest. Barry stood close enough that the heat of him brushed against her bare arm, but he didn’t touch her. He didn’t have to, his silence alone felt like its own kind of touch. She caught him watching her from the corner of her eye. Her lips pressed into a thin line.“Stop staring,” she muttered under her breath.Barry’s lips curved faintly, but he didn’t look away. “Why?”“Because it’s… it’s rude,” she snapped softly, her cheeks warming. He leaned slightly, his words brushing the shell of her ear. “Or because it makes you feel something you can’t name?”Her breath hitched, and she turned her face away quickly. “You’re unbelievable.”Barry chuckled low in his throat, the sound rich, mocking, but strangely soft too. He straightened, his hand sliding back into his pocket as though nothing had happened.“Come, kitten. Time to smile for the crowd.”Lucy bit her lip hard, following him down the stairs. H

  • Mafia's Captive Desire    Secret Mission

DAYS LATER: GALAThe gala hall sparkled with golden chandeliers that hung low, casting warm light over polished marble floors. The air smelled of wine, roses, and expensive perfumes mixing together. Everywhere Lucy turned, she saw men in sharp suits with their wives or mistresses clinging tightly to their arms. Their laughter was loud, their words low, their eyes sharp and filled with secrets.Lucy stood near the edge of the room in her red gown. It hugged her curves, the silk catching the light each time she moved. She shifted uneasily, her fingers brushing over the thin fabric at her side. The music was soft but her nerves were not.Across the room, Barry stood with a tall man who looked just as powerful as him, his hand tucked into his pocket, speaking with that cold confidence he carried so well. He looked untouchable. Julia had already slipped away to mingle with some people, leaving Lucy standing alone. Her eyes roamed the grand hall again. The tall ceilings, the crystal chandel

  • Mafia's Captive Desire    Tulips

Lucy nibbled on one muffin after another, the silence heavy, yet strangely warm. Barry didn’t say much. He only watched, his dark eyes glinting in the dim light of the lamp by the bedside. She tried not to meet his stare too often, afraid he might see how fast her heart was beating. At some point, without knowing when, her eyelids had grown heavy. The softness of the bed behind her had pulled her in like a secret promise, and before she realized it, she was fast asleep. When Lucy opened her eyes, the room was still faintly dark. Dawn was just touching the curtains with a pale light. She blinked, realizing with a jolt that she was not in her own room but in Barry’s. The blanket draped over her shoulders slid a little, and she quickly pulled it off. She froze.Barry was lying on the other side of the bed, half-turned toward her. His breathing was steady, his lashes resting against his cheeks, and the usual coldness on his face was replaced by something softer. Peaceful. Almost boyish.L
