Rose’s POV
I was headed to the Alpha's chamber to send him food as requested by Dorothy. She had begged me earlier to help her send the food to him as she needed to attend to something urgently. Even though I was bone-tired, I couldn’t refuse her. I loved Dorothy dearly. She had helped me settle into the Pack when I first arrived, guided me through the rules, and stood by me whenever I found myself in trouble. Since arriving at the Black Moon Pack, I had never seen Alpha Jackson up close. I had seen Diva, his betrothed, a couple of times and she was a pain in the neck, always nagging and complaining. She always stepped on my toes. I never knew why she hated me so much, maybe because I was an omega. The only time I’d caught a glimpse of him was from afar during a morning run, and even then, it wasn’t very clear. But I’d heard the stories. . . so many stories. They said he was brutal, cold, and terrifyingly powerful. That he once stabbed a slave three times for refusing to sleep with him. That he killed his own guard for leaving the palace to check on his ailing mate without permission. And yet, despite the rumors, countless she-wolves would kill for a chance with him. Because he was dangerously handsome. Just thinking about him made a chill run down my spine. The idea of entering his room, of being alone with him, had my heart pounding. What if he killed me? What if he forced himself on me? Why did Dorothy have to send me? I never wanted to be in a situation like this. As I trudged down the corridor, my stomach was roaring. I hadn’t eaten all day. I could literally finish a whole bowl of porridge. It had been a long, draining day at the Pack. A group of visitors from the neighboring Pack had come to mine crude oil, and after they left, we spent hours cleaning up after them. I had just finished my palace chores and all I wanted was a hot meal and a soft bed before I collapsed. My mind spiraled with awful possibilities as I approached his door. That was when I noticed a scent in the air, sweet vanilla mixed with chocolate. Enticing, addictive. The closer I got, the stronger it became. I could stay like that forever. I knocked softly. No response. I knocked again. Still nothing. “I think you should just go in and drop the juice,” Rhea, my wolf, suggested. “He’s probably out handling Pack business. You’ll be in and out.” Wanting to be done with it as quickly as possible and get some rest, I sighed and turned the knob. The sitting room was empty. But I could hear something, moaning. Cries. The scent of vanilla and chocolate still lingered thick in the air. The sounds grew louder the deeper I went. A she-wolf’s voice, ragged and desperate: “Alph… Please… take it easy…” “Shut up!” came the harsh retort. My blood ran cold. Was she in trouble? My instincts kicked in. If someone needed help, I wouldn’t stand by. I was ready to shift, ready to fight to protect her if I had to. My feet moved on their own, carrying me deeper into the room, toward the noise. Then I saw it. Or them, as the case is. My hands began to tremble. The tray slipped from my fingers and crashed to the floor, glass shattering, juice splashing everywhere. He was having sex, aggressively, violently, with a maid. Using every ounce of his Alpha strength. Alpha Jackson’s head snapped toward me, rage flashing in his eyes. “How dare you!” he growled. The she-wolf beneath him gasped for air. Her sweat-soaked body trembled before she went limp, passing out cold. He adjusted his trousers hastily. I stood there, frozen, barely breathing. My heart pounded in my chest like it was trying to escape. And then it hit me, that scent. The vanilla and chocolate. It wasn’t just his. It was ours. He was my mate. My mate. Was this a dream? What twisted joke was the Moon Goddess playing? His eyes narrowed. “On whose orders did you enter my room?” he snarled, fists clenched, his entire frame radiating fury. My lips quivered. “I… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to. . . ” SLAP! His palm collided with my cheek, sharp and brutal. My head snapped to the side. I crashed to the ground, clutching my face as pain exploded across it. A high-pitched ringing filled my ears. Tears sprang to my eyes before I could stop them. My chest heaved, trying to hold back the sobs. But they fell anyway, fast and hot. He laughed. Cold, cruel and mocking. “You? My mate? You?! It can’t be possible.” I wept silently, my face pressed to the floor. Alpha Jackson stepped closer and knelt, lifting my chin with one finger. “I could never, ever be mated to a lowlife, wretched slave like you. The Moon Goddess must have made a mistake.” His words cut deeper than his slap ever could, breaking me. He kept scoffing. “You should know better. You and I? We’re worlds apart. I can smell the weakness on you. You’re an Omega. A servant. I would never stoop so low as to claim you.” He leaned closer, his voice full of venom. “You’re a nonentity. And that’s all you’ll ever be until the day you die.” Then came the words that shattered everything. “I, Alpha Jackson Caesar of the Black moon Pack, reject you as my mate.” My heart cracked into pieces. I’d been insulted, degraded, and now, rejected. Was it a crime to be born? Was I paying for some sin from a past life? The pain and the humiliation overwhelmed me. Tears blurred my vision. My body trembled as I tried to breathe through it. “Get lo. . .” he started again. But I didn’t wait to hear the rest. Clutching the hem of my dress, I scrambled to my feet and ran. Ran faster than I ever had in my life, my tears blinding me. I didn’t know where I was going, and I didn’t care. I just knew I had to get away from that beast.Rose’s Pov“That was great fun!” Ivy chirped.“We’re definitely doing this again,” I said, still panting and trying to catch my breath. My heart was beating fast, and sweat kept rolling down my forehead. We had just finished the fastest run ever. What was supposed to be a normal morning run through the woods had turned into a friendly race. Some villagers were out running too, and before we knew it, we all decided to do a race with each other. In the end, Ivy and I won, and the others cheered and clapped. It felt good and fun.“It was so funny how I thought we were going to lose,” I said, wiping the sweat from my face with the back of my hand. “Especially when that guy ran past us.”Ivy nodded, still smiling. “Honestly! My heart almost jumped out of my chest. But thank goodness we didn’t give up. We made a great team.”I crouched down, resting my hands on my knees as I breathed out a long sigh. “I’m starving. I feel like I could eat a whole wolf right now.”Ivy chuckled slightly. “Ple
Rose’s PovAs I walked by the side of Aiden through the hallway that led to his chambers, I couldn’t stop thinking about everything that had happened. The dagger, the king almost dying, and above all, what Luna Eva had done. My heart felt heavy, but I knew someone had to talk some sense into Aiden.I glanced at him and his face still looked distant and cold. His jaw was tight, and I could tell he was still angry deep down. That just made me speak up.“My love,” I began softly as I tried to sound calm, “don’t you think it’s high time you forgave your mom? She has really suffered enough for what she did. Besides, she only did it because of you. She wanted to protect your place on the throne. I think she deserves a second chance.”Aiden didn’t respond immediately. He ran his hand through his hair and gave out a deep sigh. I could see the conflict in his eyes. When he finally spoke, his voice was calm but firm.“Rose, I understand what you’re saying. I really do,” he said slowly. “But she
Eva’s PovAll my hopes came crashing down the moment Cassandra confessed that she had lost the pregnancy. My chest felt tight as her words kept echoing in my head, “I’ve lost my pregnancy and probably my chance of conceiving again.” I couldn’t breathe properly for a few seconds. Everything I had worked for and planned had vanished in a single moment.I had truly believed that this child would secure our family’s future and protect Aiden’s place as heir to the throne and also her place as Luna because I loved her so much because she was an Alpha. I had imagined holding my grandchild in my arms soon and imagined the joy it would bring to the pack. But Cassandra had ruined everything.I could not believe she went as far as bribing Daniel to hide the truth. The thought made my stomach twist in disgust. How could she be so reckless and heartless? I had trusted her, protected her, and treated her like my own daughter. And this was how she repaid me with deceit and shame? As I walked slowly
Cassandra’s Pov“What are you doing here?” I asked in a low but irritated voice, though my heart was already beating fast.Daniel was standing at the door of my room as his face was as calm as ever, not even pretending to look guilty. “I came to collect my balance,” he said flatly, like it was the most normal thing in the world. “Since you’ve been avoiding me, I decided to show up myself.”My eyes widened. “Are you out of your mind? What if someone saw you sneaking into my room? Do you want people to start suspecting something? Please, next time, inform me before you come here.” My words came out rushed and panicked. But Daniel didn’t even bother to respond. He didn’t bow or show any sign of respect. He just stood there, looking at me like I was nothing. That hurt me more than I wanted to admit. There was a time he respected and feared me. But ever since I lost the pregnancy, everything had changed.I couldn’t even blame him. I had brought this on myself. And it was all because of tha
Rose’s PovWhen Aiden and I reached Luna Eva’s chambers, something felt off the moment we stopped at her door. The two guards who should have stood outside were not there. It was strange because the Luna always had guards at her door, especially at night. It was their duty to watch over her, and it was very strange to find the door unguarded at this late hour.“Aiden, why aren’t the guards here?” I asked in a low voice. I could see the worry in his face. He didn’t answer with words. Instead, he touched the side of his head and sent a quick mindlink to find them. He stood still for a second, waiting for the guards. The guards hurried back a few minutes later, running from down the hall. They looked nervous and guilty as they stopped in front of us. Aiden asked them sharply, “Why aren’t you guarding the Luna?”They both bowed their heads. Then, one of them said with a small, shaky voice, “My lord, she told us to leave. She said she wanted to be alone.”Aiden’s face tightened. “She asked
Rose’s PovThe moment I came out of my room, I saw Aiden walking quickly down the hallway, heading straight toward the royal clinic. His expression was tense and his steps were fast and heavy as if he was chasing time itself. The sight alone made my heart pound with worry.I hurried after him and called out, “Aiden!” My voice echoed through the corridor. He turned slightly, and I could see the anger and worry burning in his eyes. His jaw was clenched so tightly that the veins on his neck popped out.He had mindlinked me earlier, telling me he had found the culprit behind the king’s stabbing and that it was Caine. My stomach had twisted ever since that message. “Aiden, what happened? Where’s Caine?” I asked breathlessly when I caught up to him, expecting him to tell me Caine was already locked up in the dungeon where he belonged.Aiden didn’t stop walking. “I’ll explain everything later, Rose,” he quickly said in a tight voice. “Right now, I need to give my father the antidote first.”
