CHAPTER ONE: SHATTERED BONDS

The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow over the Luna Pack's territory. Rey Volk stood in the center of the pack's gathering, her heart pounding in anticipation. It was the night she had been waiting for—the night she would finally be mated to the alpha of the Luna Pack. The air crackled with excitement as the pack members surrounded her, their eyes filled with anticipation. They stood in the middle of the forest and the cold mist gave an otherworldly feel to the moment. Rey had been a part of the Luna Pack for 5 years and she had grown into a beautiful Omega.

The giggles and side talks quickly dies down as Damon Nightshade, the powerful alpha of the Luna Pack, stepped forward. His presence commanded attention, his dark eyes locked onto Rey's with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine. Rey's pulse quickened as she felt the mate bond stirring within her, a deep connection that would bind her to Damon for eternity and she could feel her body pulsate with desire. As Rey stood before Damon, she couldn’t help but notice his countenance harbored hostility towards her. Damon's face twisted with a mixture of anger and disdain, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife.

"I, Damon Nightshade, reject you, Rey Volk, as my mate. I also do not wish for you to be Part of my Pack anymore. You shall be a wolf without a pack, cursed to wander the earth alone till you are consumed"

Time seemed to stand still as the words echoed in Rey's ears. The world around her blurred as her heart shattered into a thousand pieces. The pack gasped in disbelief, their shocked whispers filling the air. Rey felt a tidal wave of humiliation and rejection wash over her, threatening to drown her spirit. She could not understand  why he had decided to reject her and banish her from the pack— Had she done something wrong?, Was she not what he desired?.

Tears welled up in Rey's eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She squared her shoulders and met Damon's gaze, her voice trembling but defiant.

‘You may reject me, Damon Nightshade, but I will not let your decision define me. I will prove my worth and find my true place.’, Rey thought to herself as in a bid to console herself.

Rey turned her back on the Luna Pack, on the life she had known. Every step forward felt like a weight lifted off her shoulders. Determination burned in her eyes as she set off into the unknown, guided by a flicker of hope that refused to be extinguished. Days turned into weeks as Rey journeyed through untamed forests and treacherous terrain. She slept beneath the starlit sky, and quickly learned to fend for herself in the wilderness. The rejection had scarred her, but it also ignited a fire within her—a fire that fueled her determination to rise above her pain. She knew that a lone wolf was a dead wolf but she was not about to resign to such a fate.

One fateful evening, as the moon rose above the horizon, Rey stumbled upon a hidden clearing bathed in a soft, silvery light. Her senses tingled with anticipation as she stepped into the sacred space. It was there that she first laid eyes on him—the enigmatic Lucian Blackthorn, the alpha of the Crimson Pack. Lucian exuded an aura of power and mystery, his piercing blue eyes filled with a depth that hinted at hidden knowledge. He regarded Rey with a mixture of curiosity and intrigue.

"Who are you, wandering alone in Silverwood?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of an accent.

Rey's gaze met his, and for a brief moment, she felt a connection—a spark of recognition that sent a thrill through her veins. "I am Rey Volk," she replied, her voice steady. "A rejected mate seeking redemption."

Rey hesitated for a moment, contemplating the offer before her. She looked back at the painful memories of her past, the pack that had turned their backs on her. And then she looked at Lucian, the possibility of a new beginning, of acceptance and purpose. With a determined smile, she placed her hand in his. As Rey touched Lucian’s hands, she suddenly could tell that he was an Alpha, taken aback by this realization, she looked at him squarely and coldly and said:

“You are an Alpha, how am I sure that you aren’t just going use me as sport for your betas”

“You have no way of being sure young Omega, you will just have to trust your instincts”, Lucian replied as he gently walked away from Rey with Grace and poise. Rey gently followed him and as she walked behind him, she could see the silhouette of people lingering within the woods and as soon as she noticed it, Lucian said:

“My pack wolves are eager to meet you”

Sera watched nervously as several figures begun to emerge from the forest and very quickly she could tell that this pack was unlike any pack she had seen before, the individuals were so different and yet they seemed to have a strong bond. As the pack members approached Rey, their eyes held a mix of curiosity and acceptance. Each one possessed unique features and abilities, ranging from shifting hues of fur to eyes that glowed with elemental power. They formed a circle around Rey, their presence both intimidating and exhilarating.

Lucian stepped forward, his voice commanding attention.

"Rey Volk, welcome to the Crimson Pack. We embrace those who have been cast aside, who have faced rejection, and forge our own path. Here, you will find a new family, a place where your strength and resilience will be celebrated."

Rey felt a surge of gratitude as she absorbed Lucian's words. This was the acceptance she had longed for, a chance to prove herself and discover her true potential. With renewed determination, she joined the pack in their shared rituals and hunts, each day bringing her closer to the person she was meant to become. But even Amidst the newfound camaraderie, Rey couldn't shake the memories of her former pack and the weight of unfinished business. She still carried the burden of her sister, Luna, trapped within the Luna Pack's suffocating traditions. Rey longed to rescue her sister from the chains of expectation and reveal the possibilities that awaited beyond their former pack's borders.

As Rey stood among the members of the crimson pack, she noticed their attention suddenly shift towards the south and almost immediately she could tell that it she knew the scent. The air had suddenly shifted and all of a sudden there was a brooding sense of danger. A deep and vicious growl echoed from the woods and Rey felt chills run down her spine…..
