LOGINAlia’s POV
The cold woke me before the pain did. My body was numb from the cold, my back felt stiff, and my mind felt foggy and slow. Then, like a flashback, everything came rushing back — the betrayal, the alpha judgment, Cole’s voice telling me I was nothing, Sophie's face mocking me. A sharp ache tore through my chest. I curled in on myself, clutching the side where it hurts. The moon was at its peak today, filtering brightly through the trees, bright but distant.”The moon goddess must have taken pity on me” I thought aloud. I must’ve blacked out for hours. My lips were cracked, my throat dry. I tried to move, but my legs felt heavy. I managed to drag myself toward a tree and leaned against it, breathing hard. Every breath stung like fire. For a while, I just sat there lost in thought. The forest was alive around me, whispering through the leaves, as if mocking me for being weak. I had always loved the woods as a child. Now they felt like a cage. I pressed my forehead against my knees. My thoughts spiralled. Cole’s face. Sophie’s smirk. Uncle Hayden’s cold eyes. Lydia’s wicked smile. Everything played over and over in my head, trying to remember everything.”I must not forget, I must remember everything I said to myself. “Why wasn’t I enough?” I whispered again, my voice breaking. “I did everything… everything, I lived the way they wanted me to, I always obeyed,” I said as tears flooded my eyes. I didn't hold it in. I cried, my shoulders shook as I finally allowed myself to break down and let the emotions out. My wolf whimpered inside me, Kayla.. I felt her pain; she was weak. We let people step on us all our lives, and we were called weak and helpless. Kayla was quiet. She didn’t speak, but I could feel her sadness too. We had lost everything. --- At some point, I must’ve drifted in and out of sleep. I woke up to the sound of wolves howling loudly in the distance. It was deep and powerful. My chest tightened in fear, my heart beat loudly so that I could hear it. I knew it wasn’t my pack, it couldn't be. This howling was different; it carries a different rhythm. Much stronger. I forced myself to stand. My legs wobbled, but it didn't stop me, I had to hide. I had no direction, no plan, only one thought — survival. The woods were thick and uneven. Every step I took sent sharp waves of pain through my body like an electric current. I grimaced in pain as dry sticks cut through my skin. Suddenly I caught a musty smell of dampness somewhere nearby, then I heard a stream trickle faintly. Water. I stumbled toward it, my eyes bulging out, eyes set on the water, scared that if I looked away, it might vanish. I walked fast, limping in pain as my feet had gone sore from walking barefoot. I dragged my swollen feet. I fell to my knees and drank greedily, the cold liquid relieving the dryness in my throat. I caught my reflection in the water, my face bruised, my lower lip split, my eyes swollen from crying. My hair was tangled with leaves and dry blood. I paused, looking at my reflection closely. I couldn't recognise her, she was strange.” How did I get here I whispered, touching my face. “This isn't me.” But it was. The heir of the Duskwatch Pack — the daughter of an alpha that everyone called a witch, weakling, unworthy — was now nothing more than a rejected outcast. --- The next day, hunger gnawed at me like a beast. I walked, eyes bent to the ground, searching for anything to quench my hunger. — I found nothing but dry leaves and bones from dead animals, “or humans,” I thought as I scanned around in fear. I tore strips from my dress, tying up my wounds to stop the bleeding, to avoid being smelled by rogue wolves. They wasted no time in tearing down any lone wolf. I shivered in fear. Night came fast, and I camped under a tree, praying to the Moon Goddess for warmth. But no answer came. Only silence and the sound of distant crickets chirping in the darkness. The loneliness hit harder than the pain. For years, I begged to be seen, heard— to be loved. Now, I have no one. Not even the Moon seemed to care. I closed my eyes, thinking of my father — Alpha Rowan. His laugh. His stories about strength and honour. His eyes twinkle with joy and pride when he looks at me. “I need you, Dad. I miss you so much” My heart ached as tears flowed down my cheeks again. I hated how easily they came. But somewhere in the middle of my grief, something shifted. A quiet thought. Small, but sharp. If they want me gone, I’ll live just to spite them. My wolf stirred at that, in approval” We'll get our revenge, Alia”, she said for the first time since the incident. I smiled” Yes we will” “I’ll survive,” I whispered into the wind. “I’ll come back for all of them. Cole. Sophie. Hayden. Lydia. Every single one of them.” The longing for revenge burned in my chest, stronger than pain, stronger than fear. --- The cold hit harder that night. I tried to fight it, but darkness crept in. My breathing grew shallow, my heartbeat slow. My last thought before I blacked out was of the moon, ever so bright but distant, watching. When I opened my eyes again, everything was hazy. Strange Voices surrounded me, low and unfamiliar. Boots crunched against the ground. “She’s bleeding out,” a man’s voice said. “Should we leave her?” “No,” another voice replied, but deeper and more commanding, it was cold as steel. “We take her. Now.” I parted my lips to speak, but no words came out. The dryness in my throat hurts badly. The last thing I saw before everything went dark again was a shadow walking closely— tall, broad, dangerous. And then, darkness.ALIA POVThe battlefield had never felt this crowded before.Wolves lined the edges in tight rows, each one mummering with their partners and friends. Some watched me with curious eyes. I had met the eye of a beta wolf guy staring intensely at me. I frowned my face and glared daggers at him. He quickly averted his gaze.” Serves him right” I muttered. A whole lot of them had a pitiful look on, I guess they think this is our end,” Kayla said.Well, let's prove them wrong. I felt a confidence boost of adrenaline through my veins. I guess I am not dying today. Judging by the way the crowd looked, it seems they've already given a verdict. They crowned their winner before the fight even started.“Am going to prove them wrong, they crowned the wrong champion.”I stepped onto the sand, my boots sinking slightly into the ground. My fingers tightened around the hilt of my sword. The metal felt familiar. Steadier than the first time I held it here. The feeling grounded me, even as my heart race
Alia POVI didn’t wait long before visiting Lauren. The moment the sun rose fully, casting its yellow light through my window, I was already on my feet. My heart still hasn’t slowed from the experience before. I still felt it, every emotion. The woman in the forest. Her blue eyes. The way she looked at me was like she knew me better than I knew myself. And the mud that had magically appeared on my floor. Not to mention the cut on my leg. It all felt…too much.Dreams didn’t leave footprints.Lauren was already awake when I reached her hut. The scent of herbs and smoke clung to the air, familiar and strangely comforting. She looked up the moment I stepped inside, her sharp eyes narrowing.“You look like someone who didn’t sleep,” she said.“I slept,” I replied quietly. “But I don’t think I stayed in my bed.”That got her attention. Her eyes focused on me as I spoke.I told her everything.About the woman. The forest. The house. The crows with three eyes. The book. The way the dream fel
Alia POVEvery time I closed my eyes, I saw the woman's face again. Those blue eyes that looked too much like mine. The forest felt eerie around us, ancient and alive. The way she had said my wolf was locked away for my own safety.I sat up in bed before dawn, my heart racing.Mud still clung faintly to my feet. I had scrubbed them twice the night before, yet it still stuck to me as if it had soaked into my skin. I lifted my leg and stared at the thin cut along my calf.It was real.I pressed my fingers against it and sucked in a breath as pain flared. “How is this possible? How did my dream reflect in the real world, or did I sleepwalk?” I thought hard as I stared at the muddy footprints on the floor.”No, if I had sleepwalked that far, the guards would have stopped me. Hahhh, what's happening to me?” I groaned in frustration as I lay my head down.“I need to speak to Lauren, she'll be able to help me” I felt a little better with the thought.Suddenly, my bracelet glowed brightly on
Alia POVSleep hardly came. It was already past midnight when I came back to my room.I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling for a long while, my mind clouded with memories. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt him again. Kael’s hands. His mouth. The way his breath had trembled against my skin like he was barely holding himself together.I smiled to myself before I could stop it.My fingers lifted, brushing my lips gently, as if they might still be warm from his kiss. My heart fluttered, light and reckless, filled with a happiness that scared me because it felt so rare. For once, I did not feel hunted. For once, I did not feel alone.Eventually, I drifted into the dark.I found myself in a forest. It felt familiar, like I had been here before. The air was cool and damp. Moonlight filtered through twisted branches above me, silver and eerie. I knew this place. I have been here before. The same forest from my first dream. The one that I remember clearly like it was real.Something moved
Alia POVThe moment the words left Kael’s mouth, the world around me froze.“I already told you that no one is allowed to be this close to you. Just me.” his words echoed in my head. The fire crackled behind us. Laughter rang far away, distant as if it wasn't real. All I could hear was my own heartbeat, loud in my ears.I felt embarrassed as I saw the look and whispers around us. Then, suddenly, a rush of anger and annoyance flooded me.“You don’t get to say that,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “You don’t get to decide who touches me Kael.”Kael’s jaw clenched. His eyes burned like the flames. Before I could say another word, his hand closed around my wrist and he pulled me away from the bonfire, away from curious eyes. I stumbled after him, my heart racing as the noise faded and the forest swallowed us whole. He stopped abruptly in a small clearing, light barely reaching us. Shadows clung to the trees. The night felt alive, watching.I yanked my hand free quickly.“You embarrassed
Alia POVLiora focused on me like I was a canvas she had been waiting her whole life to paint.“Stand still,” she warned, narrowing her eyes as she held the dress up against me. “If you move one more time, I swear I’ll leave you looking like a frightened village girl.”I laughed softly. “That’s already what I am.”She snorted. “Well, not tonight.”The dress she chose was simple, but beautiful in its own quiet way. A short gown, the colour of deep midnight blue, soft fabric that hugged my waist and fell lightly over my thighs. It wasn’t revealing, yet it clung in places that made me suddenly aware of my body. The neckline was modest, but it framed my collarbones beautifully. When I slipped it on and looked at myself, I barely recognised the girl staring back.Liora clapped her hands in satisfaction. “Perfect. You're looking stunning, Alia.”She pulled my hair loose and worked it into soft waves, pinning part of it back so it framed my face instead of hiding it. Then came the makeup. It
