Alia’s POV

The night had been uncannily quiet. I felt a certain feeling; it was dark and gloomy. I should've known something was about to happen.

I remember thinking how peaceful it looked, with the moon resting softly over the courtyard and the air still and quiet. ”So beautiful,” I muttered. I had always loved watching the moon. My dad would bring me out so we could watch the moon. He would tell me stories about the moon goddess. I smiled at the memories; it's been ages, but it felt like yesterday.

The night was moving too slowly, or perhaps it was I who was in a rush. Tomorrow…” Finally, I will be out of this place for good.” I thought aloud. I couldn't wait for tomorrow.

The mating ceremony. I would finally belong somewhere. I was to be bound to Alpha Cole; he was my mate, my first love.

I thought of Cole. I missed his presence. I walked past the wide passage, and my eyes moved to catch Cole's brown hair. “Is Alpha Cole in his chambers?” I asked a maid who came out of Cole’s chambers. “Ye…ss,” she said, trying to avoid my gaze. “Okay, but...” Before I could finish, she walked away from me.

“ Strange,” I thought. I walked into his chambers, only hearing the sounds of my feet. But then I heard it. Moaning, it was faint and muffled behind the walls of the chambers.

My heart stopped. That voice… I knew it. Sophie.

“No it can't be. Maybe I heard wrong”

But Kayla —my wolf— she already knew.

I felt our mating bond breaking slowly, the pain was choking.

A woman’s moan slipped through the door, followed by his voice, which was low, rough, and familiar.

For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. My hand trembled as I pushed the door open.

And then my whole world crumbled.

Cole was there, lying on Sophie, his lips tracing her skin as she moaned shamelessly.

I stood frozen. My throat tightened until I could barely utter a word. “Cole?”

He turned, his expression shocked but quickly shifted to annoyance. “I didn't call for you”

My voice cracked. “What do you mean? Why are you with Sophie?” We were supposed to be bound tomorrow, how…my voice broke as I tightened my chin, fighting the tears from pouring.

Sophie lifted her head and smiled. “Oh my God, Alia, you're so slow. We've been right there under your nose but you couldn't see it” Sophie blurted wearing her evil smirk

My stomach twisted.“Why?” I whispered. “You promised me, you said you loved me..that I was yours, you said forever Cole.”

He sighed, unbothered, like I just ruined their magical moment. “You’re not my mate, Alia. “You're too weak to be my Luna”

The words sank into my heart, piercing me like daggers.

Sophie giggled, draping herself closer to him. “He only stayed with you because you were the heir to our pack, but since Dad died..I think you should consider that title, gone, big sister .” Sophie said sarcastically

My eyes burned. My lips trembled as I whispered, “Liars.”

But they weren’t. I could see it in Cole’s eyes—the truth, the cruelty, the pride.

I stared at Cole– my supposed mate. Anger boiled inside of me. Instantly, my control switch flipped. My hands moved before I could stop them, striking Sophie across the face. The sound cracked through the air.

She gasped, shocked. I had never fought back before. Almost immediately, her nails tore at my skin, and I fought back, blinded with rage.

“Enough!” Cole roared, his wolf bursting through.

He grabbed me by the throat, his eyes glowing red. My feet left the ground. I clawed at his wrist, choking. “Cole… please.”

He bared his teeth. “Get out before I forget what little mercy I have left.”

He threw me. My back hit the cold marble floor. Pain exploded through my ribs.

Sophie dramatically fell on the floor and cried in pretence. Her voice cut through my gasps. “Tell the council she tried to kill me. Let’s finally get rid of the witch.”

I tried to crawl away, my palms slipping in blood from Coles’ scratch. My vision blurred.

---

By dawn, I was dragged before the council. My wrists are tied. It was freezing, but I barely felt the cold. I was numb.

They said I’d tried to kill Sophie. That I practice dark magic. That I’d betrayed my pack.

I kept silent, my eyes empty and distant. “What's the point, no one here would listen.

Uncle Hayden, now the alpha, stared at me coldly. “You’ve brought shame to this pack, Alia,” he said. “ Throw her out”

I stared at him, my lips trembling. “Please. You know me. How can you believe such lies?” I said, hot tears pouring down my bruised cheeks.

He looked away, adamant. “Take her,” he said, voice cold as ice.

Lydia, my stepmother—wore a wicked smile. Sophie stood beside her, smug and radiant, clutching her face in pretentious pain. Cole didn’t even look at me.

They dragged me out. Everyone watched. No one spoke. Not one person objected.

I was beaten to a stupor and thrown into the woods, left to die.

I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to hold my heart; it was broken, shattered. I felt nothing—just an ache, sharp and empty.

“Why wasn’t I enough? I did everything right, why couldn't they love me” I spoke to the empty, scary woods. My voice cracked, my throat dry.

The woods stayed silent.

I sank to the ground, my body trembling, my vision blurry. Kayla, my wolf, whimpered. She was weak, wounded, but alive and angry.

Before I lost consciousness, one thought comforted me. A promise.

I won’t die here. I’ll make them all pay, I must.

Then the world went black. I slipped into the darkness that was calling me.

Kael’s POVThe council were all seated waiting for me at the council chambers.Twelve council members were already seated with unpleasant faces as they spoke to each other. The moment I stepped in, their eyes locked on me.“Alpha Vale,” Elder Jorin began, “we heard you brought in a girl from Duskwatch. Is this true?”I took my seat at the head of the table. “Yes.”A heavy silence dropped across the room.Elder Mira stood abruptly. “An enemy? In our home? Do you know what this means? For all we know she could be a spy.”The others murmured, their voices rising. I clenched my jaw.“She is not a spy,” I said calmly.“Not yet,” Elder Varyn spat. “But she could be. Duskwatch will use anyone as a weapon. Even a weak girl.”A growl built in my chest before I could stop it. Raze pushed forward, triggered by the insult.“She is no weapon,” I said, trying to keep my voice level. “She was wounded at our borders. My patrol found her almost dead.”“And why should that matter to us?” Mira snapped.

Kael’s POVI shut the door behind me, and for a moment, I just stood there, breathing hard.“Hayden,” I muttered. Hearing that name made my chest tighten. I felt the anger boiling inside me. My parents’ screams, the lifeless bodies of our pack, the chaos on that night. All the memories came flooding in. I clenched my jaw until it hurt. And yet… beneath that rage, there was something else.I could still smell her. That scent. Sweet and warm. It lingered on my skin, in my lungs, teasing the beast inside me. My wolf stirred, pacing restlessly. She’s ours, he growled. Ours.“She’s Duskwatch,” I snapped out loud, as I walked into my study. “Hayden’s filth.”I don’t care. Raze said. His voice was deeper now, rougher, echoing through me. She’s ours. Don't you feel it? Her scent? She’s..“Enough.”My fangs ached. My control was slipping. Every time I thought of her — those wide eyes, her trembling lips, the way her voice cracked as she spoke— my chest tightened in a way I didn’t understand.

  • Marked by the alpha's curse    Chapter Five

Alia’s POV I blinked my eyes as the light hit them, sending a sharp pain through my eyes. My body ached badly as I tried to move. I tried again, but a sharp pain shot to my ribs. I gave up, falling lazily back to this oddly comfortable bed,” so comfy”, I muttered, enjoying the feeling it gave me. I was lying on soft white sheets, the air smelled of pine, smoke, and something else I couldn't wrap my head around. But it had a darker smell that made my pulse quicken. When I opened my eyes and scanned the room for the first time, the wall was made of rough wood, the ceiling was dark, and the only source of light was the lit fireplace. Then a voice came from the shadow. “You’re awake.” The voice was deep, rough, and surprisingly calm..The kind that could make anyone fall weak to their knees; it did something to my body. I turned in the direction of it And there he stood. He stepped slowly into the light, he was tall and with broad shoulders, his presence filling up the empty spac

  • Marked by the alpha's curse    Chapter Four

Kael’s POV Lauren's voice was low as she spoke. “She’s a strong one, Alpha, " she said as her face wore that calm smile it always has.”Her wounds are deep, and she’s lost too much blood. Another night out there and she wouldn’t have made it.” Her words cut through me more than I expected. I stood near the door, my arms crossed as I wore an unbothered look. The room was filled with the smell of herbs and smoke. The healer, Lauren, moved around the stranger’s bed with her ever-so-gentle hands, dressing the cuts on her face. Every time she winced in pain, a tight knot formed in my heart. “She needs rest,” Lauren said. “Lots of it.”She looks like she hasn't had it for a long time,” Lauren said, with a pitiful face as she stared at her. I nodded once. “Thanks.” When the door closed, I walked slowly, going closer to her bed, my gaze resting on her small face. I stared at the strange woman in front of me — a stranger… who made me feel something forbidden. I didn’t know her name yet

  • Marked by the alpha's curse    Chapter Three

Kael’s POV The night was edgy. I felt an uneasy feeling deep inside me. The scent of blood and dust still lingered in the air. I drew a sharp breath; it smelled of victory. I smiled in satisfaction. I had spent hours tracking rogues that had crossed the border. We matched on dry leaves, stepping on the blood of dead rogues. The forest was quiet now, the rest of the rogues had gone into hiding. Raze, my wolf paced inside me, restless. “What's that scent?” he growled. I ignored him and kept walking. The moon was at its peak today, shining through the trees, brightly lighting the ground just enough for us to see our parts. I kept walking towards a certain direction, searching- but not for rogues. A strange force kept pulling me, beckoning me to move farther. Then I saw her. I drew out my sword, pointing it at her. I thought she was one of the rogues who fled to hiding. She lay there, motionless under a tree. She was stained with blood and dirt. Her hair spilt across the ground in t

  • Marked by the alpha's curse    Chapter Two

Alia’s POV The cold woke me before the pain did. My body was numb from the cold, my back felt stiff, and my mind felt foggy and slow. Then, like a flashback, everything came rushing back — the betrayal, the alpha judgment, Cole’s voice telling me I was nothing, Sophie's face mocking me. A sharp ache tore through my chest. I curled in on myself, clutching the side where it hurts. The moon was at its peak today, filtering brightly through the trees, bright but distant.”The moon goddess must have taken pity on me” I thought aloud. I must’ve blacked out for hours. My lips were cracked, my throat dry. I tried to move, but my legs felt heavy. I managed to drag myself toward a tree and leaned against it, breathing hard. Every breath stung like fire. For a while, I just sat there lost in thought. The forest was alive around me, whispering through the leaves, as if mocking me for being weak. I had always loved the woods as a child. Now they felt like a cage. I pressed my forehead again
