Chapter 4

Today, Catherin went to class as usual, as she only took a day off for her wedding. The wedding, which she never wanted, really made her feel upset and wanting to give up. The wedding party was very simple, with no honeymoon and no affection from her husband. It felt more like a game than a wedding.

The difference is that Catherin now lives in Louis's house and lives with her new family. That morning, Emma actually wanted Catherin to be driven to campus by his private driver, and so on. Unfortunately, Nolan's wife refused, saying she didn't want to feel burdened.

"I'll just take a taxi, Ma. I'm used to going to campus by myself," Catherin said, rejecting her mother-in-law's offer with a smile. Emma himself respected his daughter-in-law's wishes and did not force her at all.

Catherin's current activities are only studying; otherwise, she is Nolan's wife and a daughter-in-law at Louis's house. The woman had stopped working part-time, as requested by her in-laws. Catherin was given a large monthly allowance after becoming Nolan's wife. Yes, this morning she received a money transfer from her in-laws with an amount that made her eyes widen. However, Catherin had to be wise with that money; she sacrificed her youth to become Nolan's wife. Once again, she hoped that the unwanted marriage would not cause her excessive heartache.

Catherin sat on a bench in the classroom, alone, her eyes busy looking at the book in her hand. Not long after, someone entered the still-empty class and approached her.

"Are you Catherin?" A woman's soft voice was heard. Catherin looked up, searching for the source of the voice, and saw two beautiful women. The woman who had just mentioned her name had long blonde hair, white skin, and a charmingly beautiful face. While next to her, a woman with shoulder-length hair, no less beautiful. Her hair was black, and her body was shorter than the other woman.

"Yes. Why?" Catherin didn't recognize the two women in front of her. "Who are you?" she asked again, very curious about the two women who approached her.

"I'm William's girlfriend," she said loudly and confidently. "William? Who?" Catherin looked confused.

"Are you pretending to be ignorant? Don't think I don't know that you and William often exchange messages. William even often eats at the place where you work, right?" asked the blonde woman, looking emotional.

Catherin tried to remember who the person was talking about. Until finally, she remembered, William was a sophomore who had just started the second semester. She did exchange messages with the young man several times, even if only to ask about each other's well-being.

Catherin has no relationship with William and no feelings for him either. Regarding William, who used to eat at her workplace, she didn't pay much attention to him.

"I have no relationship with him at all," Catherin said, closing the book loudly, deliberately to scare the woman in front of her.

"Good, from now on, never get close to William again. He's my boyfriend!" shouted the blonde woman, making Catherin even more annoyed. Nolan's wife has no connection with William, and Catherin even has a husband now. She doesn't have time to deal with someone else's boyfriend, while just taking care of her husband already drains her heart and energy, making it difficult to do sincerely. She remembered this morning she was busy picking out clothes for her husband, clothes he would wear to work today, where Catherin had to go back and forth to get items from the storage place for clothes.

Catherin had to pick out clothes according to her husband's taste. Starting from shirts, pants, suits, and ties. Not to mention, she had to prepare his shoes and breakfast. So, of course, Catherin had no time to get involved in other people's love affairs.

"If I find out you're getting close to my boyfriend again, I'll make you regret it," she threatened, then left Catherin alone in the classroom. Nolan's wife seemed unconcerned and didn't think about it at all.

Catherin returned home after classes in the evening, going straight to her in-laws' house, which was quite far from the campus. It took about 45 minutes to get to campus by motorcycle.

After returning from class, Catherin chose to lock herself in her room, claiming she was studying. That's because she felt uncomfortable having long conversations with her in-laws; she still felt awkward about it. She always stayed in her room until her husband came home, just sitting on the floor. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Catherin had deliberately locked it so her in-laws wouldn't know she was sleeping on the floor.

"Who is it?" Catherin asked loudly.

There was no answer from the person knocking on the door. Catherin suspected it was her husband. Who else would ignore her except Nolan? She got up and opened the door, and her suspicions were correct.

Nolan entered the room looking annoyed, slamming the door behind him.

"Why did you lock the door?" Nolan asked loudly, making his wife feel hurt again. Even though he could have spoken softly, he chose to act this way because he wanted to make his wife uncomfortable and ask for a divorce first.

"Remember when you told me to lock the door so Mr. Louis and your mom wouldn't know I slept on the floor?" Catherin replied, her voice slightly shaky, her heart still pounding irregularly from Nolan's anger.

Nolan pushed his wife's head again, this time hard on the forehead, causing her to almost lose her balance.

"Stupid! If I'm not here, you can use the mattress! If I'm here, then you can't!" Nolan yelled again. Catherin felt more hurt by her husband's actions. "Alright, I have to endure it. Eventually, I will get used to Nolan's rough behavior," she said to herself.

Catherin remained silent, holding back her emotions. She didn't want her emotions to have a negative impact on her family. She realized that her parents were very eager to see Ava walk again, and she was too.

"Look at your behavior now! Do you want to act up? Do you even realize who you are?!" Nolan asked, standing closer to his wife, making Catherin step back slowly.

"Sorry, Nolan. I was wrong," Catherin replied, choosing to give in. It was all for her safety, not wanting to be scolded more than that on her second day as a wife. Nolan stared sharply at his wife, then left her and threw himself on the super-wide bed.

Catherin immediately helped Nolan take off his shoes, as she was a wife who had to serve her husband, even with a wounded heart.

Nolan suddenly sat up when Catherin finished removing his shoes and socks. His wife was surprised, but could only stare at her husband, waiting for what else he would do to her.

"Prepare warm water, I want to take a bath. Not too hot, or I will bathe you with very hot water," Nolan said firmly. Catherin stood up and went to the bathroom to prepare what her husband wanted.

"Don't you want to answer?!" he shouted again just as Catherin reached the bathroom door.

"Yes, Nolan," Catherin replied, forced to stop her steps just to answer her husband. She just didn't want to hear her husband shout again, as it hurt not only her heart but also her ears. After that, Catherin entered the bathroom and prepared the warm water.

Nolan entered the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, showing his muscular figure. He dipped his fingers into the bathtub to check the water temperature prepared by his wife.

"Hey! I said to prepare warm water, not cold water!" Nolan shouted again.

Already hurt emotionally, Catherin's ears also hurt. The woman then added hot water to the bathtub, until her husband finally said okay.

"Until when are you going to stand there? I want to take a bath!" Nolan asked, lowering his voice slightly.

Catherin then left the bathroom, letting out a long sigh. She really had to be patient until Ava's surgery was over, enduring all of her husband's rough behavior.

"It seems better to just leave him alone, rather than be yelled at like this," she whispered softly as she walked slowly towards the end of the room where she slept last night.

A few moments later, Nolan came out of the bathroom, busy drying his hair. His six-pack stomach was visible again to his wife, and Catherin stopped staring at him when he looked back at her.

"Where are my clothes?" Nolan asked, no longer shouting. It seemed he was also tired of shouting continuously.

Catherin quickly ran to get her husband's clothes, realizing she had forgotten to prepare them. Luckily, Nolan didn't yell at her again. Catherin chose comfortable pajamas for her husband. Without protest, Nolan finally put them on. Catherin turned around when her husband removed his towel.

The wet towel suddenly landed on Catherin's head, as Nolan had finished getting dressed. Catherin took the wet towel without complaining and put it in the laundry basket.

"What do you want to eat?" This time Catherin took the initiative, not wanting to be yelled at again by her husband.

"I've already eaten," Nolan replied shortly, then lay down on the bed and looked at his phone. His hair was still wet, which annoyed Catherin as she watched her husband just lie down. However, she was happy that he wasn't yelling at her anymore.

"How much money did your father give you?" Nolan asked when his wife had just sat down on the floor.

"Mr. Louis will cover all the expenses for my sister's surgery," Catherin replied honestly.

Nolan suddenly sat up again and looked sharply at his wife. "Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked again, and his wife shook her head.

"No."

"Good, if you have a boyfriend, break up with him," Nolan continued, leaving Catherin stunned.

"No answer?!" Nolan yelled again.

"Yes," Catherin replied softly. She held back her annoyance, feeling her husband was being unfair. Nolan asked her to call him by his name, but he never called her by her name and only yelled. Now, he was asking her not to have any relationship with other men. Without being asked, it should be understood that a married woman should not have another lover.
