Chapter Six

Daniel had woken up from sleep and had noticed Bella's absent, he wondered where she could be. After taking his bath, he noticed that another of his T-shirts had gone missing.

Doesn't she have her own clothes? His gaze searched the room for her clothes box or something but to his surprise, he found none .

It had not crossed his mind to check out her clothes yesterday but now, he understood why she was in his clothes. Did she leave them in her cousin's house? He quickly carried his phone and dialed Aaron's number. Aaron has been his assistant and manager in his company for years now and if there is anyone who can carry out this assignment, that would be him.

"Find me everything you can about the girl I married" he said as soon as Aaron picked, "her name is Bella..." Damn, he don't even know her last name, "just find me anything you can" he ordered and almost hung up before another thought entered his mind

"Anything else boss?" Aaron asked when he noticed the slight pause in his boss's voice

"Yes, get me some clothes and shoes for her, you have her picture, look at her and get her size"

"Yes boss"

"It should not be cheap but not too expensive, I don't want to give myself away"

"Okay boss"

"One more thing, when you come, park a few blocks away and give me a call, I don't want to take the risk of my wife seeing me with you"

"Got it boss"

Daniel hung up the call and decided to go out to look for something to eat. The house is damn empty but he plans to leave here soon and does not want to stock the house.

He felt a cramp on his neck and he twisted it from side to side. He was not used to sleeping on that tiny couch in there, he missed his king sized bed in his comfortable mansion, he will find a way to move back to his mansion, "damn this tiny apartment"

Since there was no food in the house, it simply means that Bella has not eaten, he would have to get her some take out also.

Half an hour later, he was back to the building and Bella was still not back, probably enjoying the company of her cousin but he frowned at the thought, from what he observed from the wedding, her relationship with her cousin was not in excellent shape. His phone suddenly rang, interrupting his thoughts.

It was Aaron, he had parked a few blocks from the house as instructed and Daniel quickly strode towards him.

Daniel slid into his car and stared at Aaron "So? What have you found out about the woman I married?"

"Nothing much about her boss, just that she is a twenty three years old college student and that she is not from this place"

Daniel frowned at Aaron, this wasn't what he was expecting, as proficient as Aaron is and with all their sources, he should be able to get more, "just that?" He asked, his displeasure evident in his tone

"I am sorry boss" Daniel sighed and nodded, he has been using Aaron for years to check out something for him, if he found nothing on Bella, it means there is really nothing there.

"It is okay, what about the other stuff I sent you?"

"Oh right, here it is boss," Aaron replied as he leaned over and brought boxes of clothes and shoes, "should I take it to your house for you?" He inquired, wondering how his boss will be walking with these boxes back to the house

"It's fine Aaron, I will take it from here"

Aaron sighed as he handed them over, "how long do you plan on keeping this charade going? I feel awful that you are living in that tiny apartment"

Daniel smiled a little, "I will think of something but for now, I have to keep acting the nobody, I don't want more vultures in my life, especially not as a wife"

"But..."

"Remember I might divorce her in a year, I don't want her demanding for millions where she did not sow"

"What if she turns out to be the opposite of what you are expecting?"

Daniel thought for a moment at Aaron's question, "I'll think what I'll do then" he replied and placed his hand on the car door to open it

"Hold on boss, is that not your wife?" Aaron asked as he squinted and pointed ahead of him.

Daniel followed his gaze and indeed saw his wife seated forlornly on the outside of a cloth shop, he gritted his teeth at her pitiful look and watched as she slowly stood up, dusted her cloth and gazed at the signpost of the cloth shop for a while, probably coming to a decision, she slide into the shop.

"Take these that you bought to my house, you have a spare key, make sure I don't find you there when I return" without waiting for Aaron to answer, he got out of the car and walked towards the shop that Bella had just entered.

The sales girl stared at Bella and wrinkled her nose. This shop is not the shop for the likes of her because the shop sells quality and expensive clothes and judging by how Bella was dressed, she does not look like someone who can afford cloth from her shop.

"Can I see that?" Bella asked and pointed at a yellow sunflower dress. The gown looks simple enough and she assumed that it wouldn't be so expensive.

The sales girl made no attempt to bring the dress, "that is one thousand dollars, can you afford it?" She replied sarcastically as she eyed Bella.

"What!" Bella was astonished at the price that the sales girl was calling, the cloth does it look like it is worth that amount that she has just been told

"What about that?" She asked pointing to another and more degrading wear

"That is the cheapest in our shop and it is only five hundred dollars"

Five hundred dollars and the cheapest in the shop? She only has twenty dollars with her. What should she do?"

"Can I bargain?" She asked and the sales lady wrinkled her nose in disgust

"No ma'am you cannot.if you have the money they pay but if you don't please leave, this is not a charitable shop"

"What dress does the lady want to buy?" Daniel's voice boomed and Bella gasped in surprise and turned around to see him stride into the shop

The sales girl eyed Daniel and reluctantly pointed towards the clothes Bella had pointed but Daniel shook his head as hiss eyes caught a very beautiful silver dress that looks quality and very much expensive than the rest

"I like that, how much is that?"

"That is five thousand dollars" the sales girl responded dismissively and made no attempt to stand up from where she was seated.

"I'll take that for her" Daniel said and both Bella and the sales girl gasped

"I just said that the price is five thousand dollars" the sales girl repeated, just in case Daniel did .it caught the price the first time.

"I heard it the first time you said it and what is your name?" Daniel asked 

"Wendy"

"Wendy, I think your customer care sucks and I will like to see your manager" there was a subtle threat in Daniel's voice and that seemed to reset Wendy's thinking faculty and she jumped up from her sitting position

"I am very sorry Sir, please forgive me. I'll get the clothes" 

She quickly brought down the cloth and Daniel pointed at a very beautiful silver shoes to match the clothes

"That is seven thousand dollars" she responded and Daniel once again told her to package the shoe without even trying to bargain.

"Hold on let her try it to see if it fits" he signaled to Bella to seat on the sofa

Bella could only looked on in surprise but didn't utter a word and gingerly sat down on the sofa, she collected the shoe to try it on but Daniel once more stopped her and stared hard at the sales girl

"Won't you help her to try it on?"

"Uh? Oh..y..yes" Wendy stuttered feeling confused, she went in her knees to help Bella put in the shoes

"Perfect fit" Daniel said and told Wendy to proceed to package the shoes.

"I am so sorry once again" Wendy apologized once more as Daniel offered his card to her for debit

"Next time, speak to my wife with respect" Daniel warned, placing emphasis on the word 'wife'

Wendy's gaze traveled from him to Bella and she blushed furiously, "I am so sorry ma'am"

Bella bobbed her head in acceptance and Daniel wrapped an arm around her shoulders. She blushed when he placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and led her out from the shop.
