Christopher’s POV
“Cassandra Ainsley Floyd?” I repeated the name once more, then looked up to meet the gaze of a woman standing before my desk.
From the way she stood, I could tell she was nervous.
Her green eyes stared intently—brimming with spirit and a nervousness perfectly concealed. Her blonde hair was neatly tied back, leaving a few shorter strands framing her face. A light touch of makeup on her cheeks gave her face a radiant glow, matching the fresh hue of her lips. She wore a long-sleeved teal blouse and trousers that accentuated her long legs, paired with khaki heels that complemented her appearance flawlessly.
People say first impressions matter when forming judgments. But now, I wasn’t sure what kind of judgment to make about this young, attractive woman.
Cassandra Ainsley Floyd.
I repeated her name again and cursed in my heart as Cassandra continued to look at me with the same expression.
What could possibly be going through her mind?
Why did she act as though she didn’t recognize me, even though, just last night, she had surrendered under my touch?
Was she pretending, or did she… genuinely not remember me?
“Yes, Sir. I apologize for being late. There was a minor issue with the bus I took, but I assure you this won’t happen again. I didn’t account for New York’s traffic and deeply regret it.” She spoke quickly, her expression full of regret and worry.
I raised my head, and she slightly furrowed her brow.
This woman wasn’t even mentioning what she had seen just minutes ago. Really? Is she blind or something?
“I already met with the HR division, but they directed me to this floor to see you, Sir,” she added.
Cassandra Ainsley Floyd.
I repeated her name once more in my mind. I didn’t know how many times I’d repeated it, but something compelling kept urging me to do so. One reason was the undeniable fact that I could feel myself hardening just by looking into her green eyes—the sensation was the same as what I’d felt last night.
“Yes, and I have some questions for you before deciding whether you’re fit to work at my company. Are you willing to answer them?”
“Oh, yes, Sir. Of course, I don’t mind being interviewed by you.”
“Good, then.” I nodded briefly. “I read your application letter and saw that you applied for a position in the HR division. Is that correct?”
“Yes, Sir. I applied for that position because I have relevant internship experience in the field. However, I’m open to being placed in any department. I’m a fast learner, so I believe I’ll adapt quickly.”
“You saw something you weren’t supposed to see in my office.” I stood and walked closer to Cassandra, who was seated in front of me. “What’s your response to that, Cassandra Ainsley Floyd?”
Cassandra looked up.
Those damn green eyes make me curse once again.
I tightened my grip on the edge of the table, letting my nails dig in to stop myself from doing something reckless. I’d lost count of how many times I’d cursed while staring into her eyes.
“That falls under the category of personal privacy, Sir. There’s no response I need to give because it’s a secret I’ll keep to myself.”
I hadn’t expected such an answer.
Women, in general, wouldn’t bother giving a response because they knew what to do to earn my favor.
Damn, this woman used her lips in the proper way, but I swear I’d rather she used them for something else.
“You speak like someone who’s professional in their work.”
“I’ll also perform my duties professionally, Mr Alexavier. You can consider me if you need a competent employee.”
I had already read her job application, which Franco had emailed to me, and it was complete with all her internship experiences and campus projects. However, now that I was face-to-face with her, I didn’t need to read further details about her identity—I only wanted to know one thing.
“Are you married?” The question escaped freely from my lips, awaiting a reply.
Almost 30 seconds passed between us, and silence was the only thing that filled the space.
I got her.
It seemed she really was the same woman. Cassandra didn’t have a twin or anything of the sort, and she was indeed the one in my hotel room last night.
“No, Sir. I’m not married.” Her response broke the silence between us.
I let out a short chuckle while closing her job application file on my computer.
Damn, so she genuinely didn’t know me? Wasn’t she pretending to forget or anything?
But how was that possible? Last night, we looked into each other’s eyes, and I couldn’t shake the memory of the kisses we shared there. How could Cassandra not recognize me? I was sure she didn’t have sudden amnesia to forget an event so quickly.
Well, that didn’t matter. I could uncover everything and get my answers soon enough.
Now wasn’t the time for questions but for creating a fun game.
“Alright, you’re hired, Miss Floyd. Starting tomorrow, you’ll work as my secretary. Come here in the morning, and my personal assistant will show you what you need to do.” I looked up to meet her gaze.
Green. Her eyes were green.
Damn. Her eyes were green, and I wanted to fuck her right now.
***
It had been 5 minutes since Cassandra Ainsley Floyd walked out of my office in a daze.
I could tell she was shocked by the job offer she received. But I couldn’t deny that I was just as surprised by what had just transpired.
“Make sure she gets a good position, Chris. I’m willing to do anything for you if you promise to make it happen.” Franco’s voice was the only thing disturbing my peace. “Should I join you on your mission to conquer Southeast Asia? If so, I wouldn’t mind. I think I’d like to visit Thailand and enjoy their sex tourism once in a while.”
Damn. This guy never bothered contacting me and talking like a typical cousin. But Franco had reached out again this afternoon as if he still wanted to ensure the same thing.
“Forget about the vacation and the sex parties I planned. Tell me, did she get a job at your office? She doesn’t know I know you, so make sure you don’t mention my name at all.”
I raised an eyebrow, sensing something different stirring in his mind—curiosity.
Aside from the question of how Cassandra could fail to recognize me, the fact that Franco knew her was also intriguing enough to investigate.
“Have you slept with her?”
“Damn!” Franco cursed. “Do you think my relationship with her is like that?”
“Do you have any relationships with women besides sleeping with them?”
“You’re not wrong about that.” Franco clicked his tongue. “I admit my reputation is terrible. Every woman ever seen with me has slept with me. I suppose your reputation isn’t much different since, as far as I know, you only let women near you if you can sleep with them. But trust me, Cassie is different.”
“What’s different about her?” I couldn’t believe I said that, but it was what came out of my mouth.
“Cassie…” Franco paused as if carefully considering his words.
For God’s sake, I knew Franco never thought before speaking. He always said whatever was on his mind, never bothering to use his brain.
“Cassie is a woman I respect. I can admit I like her, but it’s a different kind of like. I don’t care if I never sleep with her, but I always want to help her get what she deserves.”
I clenched my fist and didn’t know why my mind replayed the moment when Cassandra’s green eyes stared at me so boldly as if she feared nothing. I still clearly remembered Cassandra’s kiss—it was amateurish but enough to ignite a fire within me.
“Cassandra walked into my office while Esmeralda was… licking me. She saw me and seemed completely shocked.”
“Wait!” Franco interjected quickly. “You did ‘that’ in front of her? That’s insane, man!” There was a pause before he continued. “And how come you’re calling her Cassandra? Shouldn’t you use her last name to sound more professional?”
“Do you really want to know what happened between us?”
“Don’t mess with her, Chris. I’m seriously warning you.” Franco’s tone changed, and I could hear it clearly. “This isn’t about whether I like her or not. It’s about me knowing her well and deeply respecting her. Cassie isn’t that kind of woman. She’s not the type we easily get. She holds her dignity, and I’ll be furious if you try to do anything bad to her.”
I couldn’t hold back a scoff that escaped my lips. I didn’t know if I was mocking Franco, myself, or maybe that damn green-eyed woman.
“I wasn’t even finished with my sentence, and you’re already preaching like a priest. I was just going to say she’ll start working as my secretary tomorrow.”
There was a long pause, and for a moment, I thought the call had been disconnected.
No. Of course, the call was still connected, and Franco was listening intently.
“What?”
“Sir, your meeting is ready, and the entire team is waiting for you,” Sergio’s voice came through the intercom on my desk phone.
I remained seated, staring at my computer screen. Damn it, the screen still displayed the profile of the woman who had just left my office.
The call with Franco was still ongoing, and he seemed to be in disbelief over what he’d just heard.
Without wasting more time, I ended the call with Franco and turned back to Sergio. “Cancel the meeting. I have something else to handle now,” I said in one breath.
“Sure, Sir.”
“Connect me to Dexon, Sergio.”
“I’m listening, Sir.” Without hesitation, Sergio followed my orders seamlessly. He didn’t even complain when I added to his workload by canceling the meeting I had requested just two hours ago.
“Yes, Chris? I’m on my way to Italy to handle the shipment to Iraq. You’ll receive the report shortly.” Dexon exhaled. “Are we heading for World War III? These weapons are more than enough to destroy a nation. Do they want to take over a specific country?”
In my line of work, I had different people to manage different aspects. And this time, I needed Dexon.
“Do you remember when I asked you to handle my marriage?”
There was a pause before Dexon responded. I knew my question was unrelated to the report he’d just given me. “Of course, I remember. That was just yesterday. Is there a problem?”
The problem, damn it, was that there wasn’t one—yet. But I seemed to be inviting it to come my way.
“Do you still have my wife’s identity on record? I think she just applied for a job at my company without knowing I’m her husband. Interestingly, it seems she has a relationship with my cousin.”
Cassandra’s POVI sat limply in the waiting room, which was Monica's office after the woman had taken me out of the auction room. Monica said the other women had already been taken by their buyers because most of them were sold for 15-25 thousand dollars. They could make payments with the operator on duty there and leave without a trace, taking their chosen women wherever they wanted. However, something different happened to me.“I knew you were beautiful from the moment I saw you come in here. Even then, you were unconscious, and I couldn’t see your eyes. But I was sure you would fetch a good price at tonight’s auction. But one million dollars?” Monica clicked her tongue and shook her head. “This is beyond my expectations. No one has ever fetched that much. The most I’ve ever gotten was 100 thousand dollars, and that was when I was lucky because the only son of a winery owner was bored and decided to spend some of his money here.”I stared at her in fear. One million dollars was no s
Cassandra’s POVI still shook my head vigorously when I heard what the woman in front of me said.Among all the nightmares I’ve endured because of my father, I could tell tonight the worst one.“Usually, I’m not this kind to others. But you look so pitiful, so I’m making an offer.” The woman shrugged. “When I started this business, my network wasn’t as large as it is now, so 20 thousand dollars for a woman was impossible. But I can guarantee you that all the guests who come have more than enough money to buy a woman. If they don’t have that much, of course, they’ll choose to sleep with an ordinary woman who can be rented at a lower price. They’re prostitutes who are no longer that attractive. All the women auctioned here are high-quality. So the customers are more interested in the auction at my place.”“I’m married,” I shook my head, “I don’t have that kind of quality.” At least, I knew they’d probably prefer to buy a virgin woman for a fantastic price. The problem is, I just lost my
Cassandra’s POVI might have to crown this week as the most chaotic week of my life. However, it turns out there’s still one more mess waiting for me in the daylight when I had just stepped out of my room to refill my glass with water.“Mom, I think we need to go to the doctor.” I looked at my mother with worry as I noticed her face growing even paler, her breathing becoming heavier.Among all the problems I have, I have to admit that the hardest one for me is seeing my mother suffer from her illness while I can’t do much.“I am fine, Cassie.” My mother closed her eyes and squeezed my hand. “We don’t have much money lately, so you need to be more frugal.”“How could I think about being frugal when you’re sick?” I looked at her in frustration.I found out that my father still hadn’t sent me any money even though he was supposed to, according to our agreement. That man… he must be doing this on purpose, just like he always does.“I know you’re in trouble now, which is why you’re not wor
Christopher's POVAfter Cassandra ran away from my house, I sent someone to follow her. I also sent a taxi for her because I knew she didn’t have money and didn’t bring her phone. She left her phone and her bag in my car. So, I also sent those items to her house after installing GPS on both of her phones.“You did it, right?” Dexon, who had been sitting quietly across from me, now spoke after a medic finished wrapping the wound on my neck.“Did what?”There are so many possible meanings for that damn question, and I didn’t want to fall into a trap.“Telling her,” Dexon frowned. “You told her you’re her husband.”“Oh,” I nodded.“What do you think I was asking?” He asked again.I ignored the question and chose to focus on the GPS of the taxi Cassandra was riding. She actually went home, not stopping by a bar like she used to do when she was frustrated.“Franco messed everything up. I want you to handle his work while I figure out what to do with him.”“You’re not thinking of killing hi
“Cassie,” Franco's voice echoed again, and the only thing I could do was cry. From the way he looked at me, I could tell he had figured everything out. The conclusion was spinning in his head, and I could see it so clearly.“Franco, it’s not what you think,” I stepped forward while Franco stepped back as if he didn’t want me to come any closer. That fact hurt me even more.I knew he felt disgusted with me.“Where were you last night?” he asked, his jaw clenched and his sharp gaze piercing me like a knife.“I…” I couldn’t find an answer. I was at this house when I first opened my eyes, and that alone answered the question of where I was last night.“I searched for you all night, trying to call you, but you were nowhere to be found. I spent the entire night looking for you at clubs and just caused a scene there because I couldn’t find you. I even went to your mother’s house to check if you’d gone home. I did all of that because I was worried about you, damn it!” He shouted so loudly tha
Cassandra’s POVWhen I first woke up from my sleep, I furrowed my brow as I felt a strange pain in my private area.I hadn’t fully opened my eyes yet, but I could feel warmth on my back. And this usually didn’t happen... and it shouldn’t have happened.I quickly opened my eyes because a suspicion made me want to find out what had really happened. As soon as my eyes opened, I swear I wanted to scream when I realized that I wasn’t waking up in my room like I was supposed to. I woke up in a completely foreign place... one that, unfortunately, I clearly remembered because I had been in this situation a month ago. That fact alone wasn’t shocking enough; I was further startled by the movement behind me, along with the sound of a man softly snoring.Oh God...I didn’t dare turn my body now...However, when an arm moved around my waist, I could feel our skin touching directly under the blanket, and that led me to the realization that I... was naked.No...No...“What am I doing here?!” I coul
Christopher's POVCassandra's tears were enough to answer the question I asked her.Obviously, she couldn't answer it. She covered her face and cried under me while the only thing I could do was freeze without knowing what to do now. This was my first time sleeping with a virgin. I had never done it before because I prefer experienced women to spend hot nights with me. Unfortunately, I misrecognized Cassandra when I should have been able to read her from the first time we kissed. However, now I couldn't turn back the clock.I was Cassandra's first man, and I couldn't change that. I had her first experience when she was drunk, and it was crazy. I'm sorry that she might forget this incident like she did before.Oh, I won't let her forget it then.“Open your eyes, Cassandra.” I kissed her eyelids once more. She obeyed like a puppy. Once her eyes opened, the first thing I did was to make sure she was looking at me properly.“Promise me you won't forget any of this,” I said as I looked dow
Christopher's POVI poured a drink into my glass while my eyes remained fixed on a woman now sitting on the second floor. I didn’t know how many glasses she had consumed, but from her movements, I could tell she was starting to get drunk.Damn, she’s a mess when drunk, and I know I can’t trust anyone right now.“How long are you going to stare at her? I feel like you’re about to break Franco’s arm just because he touched Cassandra’s arm.”I didn’t take my eyes off Cassandra even as I heard Dexon’s comment. To hell with that man. Honestly, I’m here because of his mistake, too.“I didn’t leak her plan to party with Franco just to see you sitting here all night, Chris,” he complained again.“I don’t give a shit about that,” I said, drinking from my glass before pouring more.My decision to skip going to the office wasn’t enough to stop me from coming here and secretly watching Cassandra as she got drunk on the second floor.“It’s so funny how you’re watching her here like a jealous husba
Cassandra’s POVAfter work, I usually spend time with my mom before falling asleep out of sheer exhaustion. But tonight, I decided to do something different. I... didn’t know how to escape all of this and ended up choosing the most foolish thing I’ve ever done.“You need this drink to refresh yourself!” Franco said, walking toward me with a glass he got from the bartender. We were at one of the biggest nightclubs in New York. Don’t even ask how crowded it was—this place was like an ocean of people, with music pounding loudly. Franco had seated me at one of the sofas upstairs—a semi-private spot on the second floor that wasn’t too crowded. From here, I could see the dance floor, where hundreds of people were dancing freely.“I think I do,” I nodded, accepting the drink he handed me. “Is this alcoholic?” I brought the rim of the glass to my nose, grimacing slightly at the strong smell of alcohol.“Of course!” Franco poured more alcohol from a bottle into his glass, drinking it casually.
