Three days had passed and Jane found herself in front of a long length mirror as she admired the white wedding dress which fitted snugly around her torso and flowed down elegantly. The dress was stunning and even though she had zero input in how the dress turned out, Jane was hardly disappointed.
Her father stood behind her, holding a cigarette in his hand. He discarded it on the floor and approached her. “I’m sure you’re gonna be happy kiddo. They’ll treat ya well,” he said, feeling no remorse for the position he had put her in. Jane completely ignored her father as she stared at her figure, her anxiety and anger building up. “Come on, let’s go,” he said, holding out his hands towards her. Jane disregarded this gesture and turned to walk towards the large hall where all the guests waited eagerly, still not saying a word to her father. The doors opened and a tune filled the room as her father led her down the aisle towards her doom. Liam stood at the altar, clad in a tailored white suit and looked as ravishing as he always did. Jane turned her head as she caught him staring at her, unintentionally making eye contact with Liam's mother who was next to the woman that had walked into his office three days ago. Both women stared daggers at Jane while other guests, especially Liam's father, looked happy and eager as paparazzis took photos of her. Jane had to make a conscious effort to ignore the two women who were scowling at her as she carefully walked towards the altar, her father next to her. Reaching the altar, Liam took her hands, his grasp firm but gentle. Jane felt her skin begin to crawl from the close proximity. The priest rambled on words and she heard herself repeating it, barely meaning any of it and saw Liam do the same. “You may kiss the bride,” The priest said, a small smile set on his lips as he stared at the couple. Jane turned her head to protest but in an instant, Liam held her face and brought her lips to his, his firm but soft lips landing gently on hers. Cheers and claps filled the room as both of them separated but Jane's eyes were wide in shock and disbelief which Liam simply ignored. The day went by in a blur and soon Jane found herself in a limousine with Liam as he rapidly typed on his phone, completely disregarding her. “Why did you do that?” She asked finally, still reeling from the kiss. Liam abruptly stopped typing and turned to her, his expression annoyed, “Do what?” He asked. She looked up at him, determined, “You kissed me, Liam. I would appreciate it if you respected my choice and never did that again?!” She harshly whispered, shooting him an annoyed glance. “Don’t be dumb, D****e. That meant nothing and our families' gazes and cameras were pointed at us. You’d need to do better to try to convince them,” he said, turning away from her, “Plus, our contract says I have every right to do so when necessary,” he finished. Jane mentally scolded herself for being silly and underestimating Liam’s cunning, of course his despicable being was going to include such a clause in the contract she had been so annoyed to finish reading. Deciding to hold her tongue, Jane turned her gaze to the window and admired the view as the car drove past. ~~~~ It was officially a week after her wedding to Liam and Jane had relished her last moments of freedom at home. This time around, clothes were strewn across the room and Jane rushed frantically, trying to pack up her bags and head to the airport. The day of their family trip had finally arrived and Jane couldn’t be less ecstatic. A villa filled with his immediate family where she had to play house didn’t seem too exciting to Jane but she felt pretty determined that day. Jane had decided that she was going to do as she was told and wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. Despite that, she focused on packing up her bags and tidying up the room in her small home. She grabbed her bags and rushed out the door, locking it behind her and entering the car that was sent by Liam. The car pulled out and headed directly to the airport. After a few minutes, Jane had checked in her bags and walked quickly towards the area Liam was standing waiting for her impatiently. “You need to work on your time management, D****e, I’m not waiting around for you next time,” he said, a scowl on his face. “Oh please, Liam, ten minutes of your time surely won’t kill you,” she retorted back, walking past him. Together, they boarded Liam West's private jet and Jane felt a surge of nervousness fill her as she anticipated the journey ahead.Although he was aware it was fairly early for dinner, Liam found himself setting up a table and straightening the lanterns he had placed by hand around the room. Why was he nervous? He already guessed why. For the first time ever, he wanted to impress his wife, Jane. Earlier that evening, Liam had prepared every dish he knew and was sure Jane would like. Recently, the thought that he barely did anything for the woman he was slowly obsessing over disturbed him a bit. Throwing away caution on his feelings, he knew it was time to act. After arranging the table cloth for what felt like the hundredth time, Liam looked up the stairs, his heart beat gradually increasing as he anticipated Jane's arrival. The soft flop of slippers on tiles filled the room and Liam turned to face the staircase, descending was Jane. She looked just as stunning as Liam had always found her. Her short hair was tied to a small ponytail and she was in a casual but lovely lilac dress. Liam watched Jane's e
The blazing sun shone down as a black Mercedes pulled in reverse and carefully parked in the empty parking lot. The driver killed the engine before opening the door and stepping out of the luxury vehicle. It was Fiona. As always, Fiona looked beautiful. She had on a scarf and sun shades to avoid being recognized. Raising her hand and checking the time, she noticed she was over fifteen minutes late for her shoot but she was barely worried. Fiona was on a mission. She had to get something done immediately and done fast. Turning away, her heels clicked on the pavement as she walked into the private restaurant. Stepping inside, she approached the counter, “I have a reservation,” Fiona said to the restaurant employee. The woman turned to Fiona and flashed a small smile, “Welcome. Name please,” she said. “Fiona Cross,” Fiona responded. The lady typed into her computer, then turned back to Fiona, handing her a card. “Seat 4A. I’ll show you to your table,” the cashier said, "
Jane blinked, trying to remain calm and indifferent as her heart shuddered inn her chest. “What do you mean?” Jane asked, carefully scanning Erica’s face. Erica simply sighed, reaching for the glass of water on the table, “I shouldn’t have said that, forget I did.” She said quietly. Jane narrowed her eyes. “Erica…”“I mean it, Jane. Just… don’t mind me.” Erica replied, brushing it off with an awkward laugh. Jane didn’t press further–for now. But she knew damn well she wasn’t going to forget either. Erica’s words had finally confirmed something was going on. ~~~It was early evening and the skies overheard darkened as the clouds rolled in. Jane hit the accelerator, her mind racing, unsure on what to think. She and Erica had a good time and Jane was beyond grateful for the time they had spent together. Even though Erica tried to brush it off, her words continued to ring at the back of Jane's mind. Was Erica referring to the picture she had seen? Jane suspected there was mor
Jane stood unmoving, still staring at the picture in shock. Her eyes moved from the one she guessed was Liam to the other person. They looked exactly the same. The same facial expression, the same face, smile and eyes. The resemblance between the two was uncanny and even she couldn’t tell who her husband was. Her hold on the frame tightened as her thoughts began to race. Could it be a twin? A brother? She wondered why Liam had never mentioned it. As far as she knew, Liam was the only son. That was exactly what her dad had said to her too. “What are you doing?” Jane jumped, startled by the sound of Liam’s voice. The frame slipped from her hand and hit the floor, the glass shattering into pieces. “Oh my God, uh…” Jane muttered, panicking as she bent to to gather the pieces. “I don’t remember giving you permission to rummage through my things Jane,” Liam said, walking over r to her and staring down at her with a deep frown. “I…I’m sorry. I…” Jane stammered, still shaken that
Rainwater continued to beat against the closed windows as the sounds of storm and rain filled the kitchen. Jane had a drink in one hand and her phone in the other, staring out the clouded window, lost in thought. Work that day had been hectic for Jane and she had come back home with hope to speak with Liam. Not just to fish information about the state of his company or the discussions she had overheard during their trip, but just to… speak with him. Jane had to admit, she was beginning to get used to having Liam around. Tonight, Liam wasn’t home. Perry had informed Jane about the message he left earlier.. It was now past midnight, but he still hadn’t returned. She had no idea what to make of it. Trying not to worry too much seemed futile because couldn’t help it. Unless… “Fiona,” Jane finally muttered. It made some sense now. Liam could be out there having a good time with his ‘girlfriend’, while she stayed home worried about him. “Silly me,” Jane let out a breathy chuc
The journey to Fiona’s penthouse was a short one. By the time Liam arrived, it was ten minutes past eight and he hoped Fiona wasn’t going to go crazy on him. With the events going on in his company, he hoped she’d be a bit considerate. But once again, he was wrong. Immediately Liam swiped his key card to her apartment and got in, a vase was hurled at him, aiming for his head. He was quick enough to move to the side, and the vase smashed into the door, shattering to pieces. “You’re late,” Fiona said calmly, as if she had not just aimed to smash his skull. Luckily, Liam was partly used to this already, “I’m sorry babe. My day was more hectic than I expected.” “Of course. It was hectic because you spent your time cuddling with that bitch!” “Watch your mouth, Fiona. You will not speak about Jane in that manner,” Liam warned. He had tried to be calm and treat Fiona with the affection she deserved, but what she wasn’t going to do was speak about Jane. Liam had no idea why h
