LAURA'S POV

"Hey, you've reached Liam. Leave a message or call back later."

I don’t know how many times I’ve called him now and yet, no response.

I’m driving like a mad woman through the streets, not even sure where I’m going or what I'd find. My fingers are clamped tightly around the wheel and I feel like I’m going to pass out from the pressure building in my chest.

I can’t cry, at least not yet. I can't risk crashing into someone or something because I was blinded by tears.

Please pick up, Liam. Please.

Then, finally, my phone screen lights up. I answer on the first ring, breath lodged in my throat. “Liam...” my voice hitches as the tears threaten to pour down my face.
