LOGINAurora's POV:
"What just happened?" I asked Malani in shock after my father walked out of my room. His words echoed in my mind: "Aurora, do not get annoyed over your sister's comment to have you banished. I will speak to all of them tomorrow morning. Goodnight." My father left my room and gently shut the door. I knew that apart from my father, my mother showed the worst behavior toward me. If I had not seen a picture of her pregnant with me, I would have thought that she adopted me and she did not serve as my real mother. Malani exhaled and said, "I do not know what happened. But I feel certain that your sister feels troubled over something." "Like what? Why would Quincy order me banished over mere earrings? She just hates me, and this proves no ordinary hatred. Does she fear that I will take the Luna position from her?" I asked Malani, my hand rubbing my jaw as I thought about my sister's behavior. "Maybe she fears you taking everything from her. After all, you have me, and you do not stand alone," Malani replied softly. Lying in bed as the night remained fresh, I sighed. "I do not want them to know that I have you. Are you sure that we can go out for a run? If I shift to you, my family will find out," I said worriedly. "Mmm. Then we do not shift," Malani said, but I felt eager to shift to her. "Can we escape the house tonight? After all, my family returned from attending Alpha Xander's birthday party. I feel curious. I want to shift to you so that I can see what it feels like," I told Malani, and she sighed. "Alright. Let us give it a shot, but you should wait a little. When the whole of your family falls asleep," Malani replied, and I felt refreshed since I had already slept a little. I got down from my bed and went to sit in my working chair. Despite that I work as a cleaner, I wanted to pursue a course in medicine, so I sat at my study desk and turned on my laptop. Dad bought this for me after I graduated from high school a year ago, and Quincy did not feel happy about it. When I turned on my laptop, I browsed and researched about some herbs for a while, before I decided to add new friends on my social media account. They were all werewolves and beautiful people. I wanted to add humans, but I felt scared, especially since authorities blocked us from adding human folks. A werewolf pack group required us all to stick to it, and I looked at the Autumn Pack. My best friend, Nora Edmond, served as the Gamma's daughter. Her brother, Steven Edmond, married Alpha Xander's younger sister. They served as real mates. So I decided to text Nora. Me: What is up, Nora? It was past 1 a.m., and I felt shocked when she sent me a text message back. Nora: Aurora, do you still remain awake? Me: Yes. I am awake. I just woke up now, and I do not feel like going back to bed. So I decided to browse online. Nora: Okay. Why did you not attend Alpha Xander's birthday? Me: *Pouted.* My family refused. Nora: Why? Why do they not bring you around? Do they not serve as your real family? Me: Do not bother yourself. Did you attend it? Nora: Yes. Guess what happened? Me: What happened? Nora: Alpha Nico refused Xander to marry your sister as the Luna. Me: What? Why? Nora: Only Alpha Xander's real mate may serve as the Luna. Do you know that Luna Jasmine acts feral because she does not serve as Alpha Nico's real mate? Me: What? And they hide it from all of us? Nora: Yes. They did not want us to know about her health. So you see? She falls sick because she does not serve as the real Luna. I feel sorry for her. Me: So this explains why Quincy returned annoyed. She nearly took her anger out on me, but I feel fine now. Nora: Hmmm. Do you think you serve as Alpha Xander's real mate? Me: No way. I do not like him. He acts as a playboy. I feel surprised he took his relationship with Quincy seriously. Nora: I feel sleepy now. Let us meet up tomorrow Sunday. I will tell you everything that happened. Me: Alright. Goodnight. I continued staring at my laptop screen after I closed the chat with Nora. I had a phone, and I decided to contact her the following day to find out what truly happened. Turning off my laptop, I stood up and made a move to the window to peer out. The full moon still shone above the clouds, so I pushed the window aside and peeked out. My room sat on the ground floor, but I could not jump out through the window. Some guards patrolled around. "How do we escape, Malani?" I asked her nervously when I saw some guards on patrol. Malani replied, "I can put them all to sleep. Do you want me to do that?" "Wow. Alright. Let us give it a shot," I replied to my wolf, and I peeked out of the room window once more and watched the guards. Malani took charge of my body, and a white light glowed from my hands. The guards alerted to the ray of light that glowed from my room window. One by one, they all fell asleep and fell on the ground. Smiling, I walked back to the door and pushed it open gently to avoid waking up my father. Then I slipped out of the house and made my way toward the gate. All the guards slept as I rushed out of the house, dressed in a flowing white nightdress. I wanted to shift to Malani to exercise my wolf. "Are you ready?" I asked Malani as we arrived at the woods. I had watched some of the pack members shift while they played around, running in the woods and fields ahead, taking some swims in the open river ahead of us. "Yes, but you need to undress to shift to me. You cannot shift with your clothes on. You must strip yourself nakẹd," Malani said, and I felt nervous about it. "Are you certain that no one else remains around? I do not want anyone to see me and report to my father," I informed Malani, anxious about getting caught. "Trust me, Aurora. I have put everyone to sleep. It proves an easy task," Malani said while I stood aside and decided to strip off my dress in this path of the woods. A grape tree stood in front of me, so I went to the tree to hang my white dress to avoid losing it. Once I stood completely nàked, Malani took charge of my body, and I felt slightly uneasy, like someone watched me. "Are you ready?" I asked Malani, but silence followed. "Malani," I called my wolf, and she replied, "I am ready, but I feel nervous too. Aurora, what if we find our real mate?" "No way. Well, I thought you said everyone sleeps. So we cannot find our real mate tonight, right?" "You remain right. Let us do this," Malani said, and she took over my body and shifted. I felt stunned by the huge white wolf that I shifted into. When I first met Malani as a spirit wolf, she appeared small, but shifting to her now stunned me at how massive she stood. "How do you like me?" Malani purred, but we heard a deep growl from afar that made us tremble. "That is the alpha. Oh no! We have to shift back!" Malani said, and I felt dread run down my spine as she shifted back to me before I could even go for a run. "Damn it! What does Alpha Xander do out in the woods at this late time of the night?" I cursed as my hands trembled to find my underwear and my nightdress. "Hurry! He's coming!" Malani said, and I cursed my luck, knowing that someone would report me to my father.(Aurora's POV)A few minutes later, as I saw the time in the room was past 4 p.m., my room door swung open, and a health worker arrived, carrying a tray of my dinner."Here's your food," she said, serving it on the table next to my bed. Before I could speak, the door opened again, and Nora Edmond rushed into the room to meet me."Aurora, oh my goodness! What happened at home? Why did you attack Quincy to warrant you getting punished before the whole pack?" She asked as she rushed up to my bed to meet me.Nora wore a pink dress that fell past her knees as it was a loose-fitting dress, featuring a pair of black shoes. She was carrying a brown bag and also wearing a brown pair of slippers. She packed her long brown hair into a ponytail, as she was a thick brown-skinned girl at 17."Nora," I wiped off my tears, my heart aching painfully after getting to know that Alpha Xander and Quincy had been intimate."What's wrong, Aurora? Speak to me?" She asked, taking a step forward to meet me on
(Aurora's POV) Waking up on the hospital bed, the thick smell of disinfectant filled my nostrils. The incident at the pack square echoed in my mind, and I discovered that I was laying on my tummy, my back exposed. "Mm," I whimpered and tried to turn, but I heard the voices in the room. "Dad, how can Aurora take your place and get flogged by Xander?" It was Kaleb's voice. He acted like he didn't care, now he was here in the hospital room, asking my father. Was he trying to know what our father has to say? Dad sighed and said, "I hope this heals faster. She doesn't have a wolf, and if it doesn't get treated well, it could leave a scar." "Mmm, you shouldn't have slapped Quincy last night. No matter what she did. Of what use is Aurora to us? Quincy is the one to become Alpha Xander's chosen mate, and you ought to have respected that position," my brother said, his voice sharp, like he was blaming Dad, like he believes that my father should have been the one to get punished. Dad sigh
Aurora's POV: "No way. I do not want anyone mistreating you, and as an alpha, I do not go back on my words. Guards!" Alpha Xander summoned, and two masculine guards came in. "Yes, Alpha," they bowed their heads to him as they dressed in black. "Get the whip and flog Beta Adrian. Twenty lashes on his back. I want him to feel the pain that he put on my girlfriend too," Alpha Xander said, unconcerned that the man he wanted to humiliate served as my father—his mentor who trained him in the warriors' camp and taught him how to fight. The two guards' eyes widened, and one of them hesitated to take out his whip as he asked Alpha Xander once more, "Alpha, do you insist that we flog Beta Adrian?" A flicker of hesitation crossed the guard's face because he did not want to do that. "Yes!" Xander growled. "Or do you want to get punished and suspended for failing to follow my orders? I serve as the Alpha's son, and I order you to flog Beta Adrian now!" The guards gulped hard. Their bodies tr
Aurora's POV: The following Sunday, I woke up in my room, and rays of sunlight seeped into my room and landed on my face. Getting up on the bed, the events of the previous night flashed in my mind, and I frowned at the thought of Alpha Xander kissing my lips. My room door swung open, and my mother stood there, wearing a white nightdress as she looked at me contemptuously. "What do you still do on the bed at this time of the day, Aurora? Get up quickly!" My mother yelled, and only then did my eyes land on the clock. I felt stunned to see that it stood at 10 a.m. "Oh no. I have slept so long," I said, getting out of the bed, and my mother looked at me disgustedly. Mom walked into my room, grasped my left arm, and yelled at me, "Aurora, do not think that because your father supported you last night, that will give you the right to behave as you like. Get out and take care of sweeping the house. Do not act as a lazy girl!" She let go of me, but I did not protest or say anything. I
Aurora's POV: My heart still throbbed rapidly when I arrived home. The guards still slept. I still could not believe that Alpha Xander Roland dared to kiss me tonight. His lips left a sweet grape scent in my mouth, and I felt annoyed at myself for allowing him to kiss me. "Get it together, Aurora. I cannot be with him. He serves as Quincy's boyfriend!" I growled at myself, and I heard the sound of footsteps approaching my door. "Aurora!" My father called to my attention, and I stilled because I expected him to sleep. I wanted to pretend that I slept because I lacked an explanation for him. Before I could rush to the bed and lie on it, my father threw my door open and appeared at the door. "Aurora, where do you come from?" Dad asked me, his voice stern, and I felt surprised that he knew I left the house. "Dad… I…" I tried to come up with an excuse as I stood beside my bed, and he scowled. "Did I not warn you not to leave the house, most especially at night to try to shift to a wol
Xander's POV: "What is that jasmine smell?" I growled aloud as the intoxicating scent drew me in. Johnny perceived her scent. It intoxicated him. Very addictive, it prompted Johnny to take charge of my body before I could react. "Mate!" Johnny growled in my head, and I hated that my wolf opposed me so strongly. I recalled that I wore the emerald bracelet that Bailey had given me, and it glowed greener on my right hand. "Damn it!" Even in my wolf form, Johnny stood massive. He ran as fast as a deer in search of his mate. Then we arrived at the spot, and I felt shocked to see Aurora hiding behind the grape tree. It served as my favorite tree. What did she do here? I pondered as my brows furrowed. Annoyed, I shifted back to my human self. Thankfully, I wore my black boxers; I would not feel comfortable if my girlfriend's sister saw me nàked. "Come out from behind the tree," I ordered Aurora, seeing her try to shield her body with the white dress that she held. Aurora stood stark
