Xander's POV:

"Greetings, Alpha Xander Roland. Happy birthday to you," Wise One Jeffrey said. He wore a red top, black trousers, and a pair of black shoes. He was a tall, slender, brown-skinned man with long black hair.

"What brings you here, Wise One?" I asked him, irritated to see him, and he smiled.

"Alpha Xander, I am here to give you the same warning that I gave to your father twenty-four years ago. Do not make the same mistake and crown the wrong woman as your Luna. Find your real mate and do what's right," he said, before turning around and leaving the banquet hall.

After hearing what Wise One Jeffrey said, hushed murmurs echoed in the banquet hall. Quincy hastily pulled her right hand away from mine and ran out of the hall. However, I chased after her.

"Wait, Quincy!" I called her name, but she kept running away. However, I gave chase, caught her by the arms, and pulled her into a warm hug.

"Why didn't you stop when I asked you to?" I asked her, holding her arms firmly.

Quincy sobbed, having made me leave everyone in the celebration hall to pursue her.

"Let's break up, Alpha Xander. I am not your real mate. I cannot stand the thought of you with another woman. I love you," she cried, hugging my waist and resting her head against my chest.

"It's okay. You do not have to cry. I love you too, Quincy. Come on, let's finish my birthday celebration first, and I have a lovely present for you," I said, my tone soft as I held her hand and led her back into the banquet hall.

"I don't want the pack members to look down on me as their Luna. They already know that I am not the real Luna," Quincy sobbed again, walking along with me, and I crossed my arm over her shoulder, calming her down with my alpha pheromones.

"It's fine. We will get married no matter what," I assured her, before turning her around to face me. I placed a kiss on her forehead and said, "Trust me," my voice comforting her.

"What if you find your real mate?" she asked me, her blue eyes holding mine.

"No way. I don't have a mate and don't believe Wise One Jeffrey. He wants me to remain single for the rest of my life, just because he wants me to choose my real mate as the new Luna," I said, but my wolf, Johnny, growled in my head.

"Damn you, Xander! We have a mate! Just be patient, and we will find her soon. I have a feeling that our mate has just come of age and turned 18," Johnny said, clinging to the hope that I have a real mate.

"Shut up, Johnny! Then where is the real mate? No other woman is as beautiful as Quincy in the entire Autumn Pack! I would rather choose Quincy than any other woman beneath her level," I growled back at my wolf, Johnny, through our link, and he growled louder, "Lies! Quincy has a beautiful face but a dark heart like charcoal. I do not approve of her as your chosen mate. She is worse than the devil."

"Shut up!" I snarled at my wolf and warned him, "Don't you dare speak of my chosen mate like that in front of me."

"Or what? What will you do? Block me! Ugh! You will regret this! Argh…" Johnny growled and shut me out.

Carefully, I placed my arm around Quincy's shoulder and led her back into the banquet hall as she wore a lovely green dress and a pair of black shoes. The jade earrings made her stand out, like a real queen.

Walking back into the banquet hall, no one dared to protest against Quincy. They stood silently, watching me as the soft music played in the background. It was my 27th birthday, after all.

My father rose to his feet, dressed in a black shirt and trousers. He warned me, "Xander, I will not approve of Quincy as your Luna. Only your real mate is allowed to be in my presence from today onward. Find her and bring her to me to help cure your mother, or keep your relationship with Quincy out of the palace. You're making your mother's mental condition worse."

Dad walked away from the celebration hall angrily, not waiting for me to cut my cake.

I firmly held Quincy's hands, assuring her, "Don't worry. I got you."

The pack members stood tensely after my father walked away. Beta Adrian and his son, who was my best friend, Kaleb, appeared worried. But they smiled when they saw me hold Quincy's hand, no matter what the situation might be.

Quincy and I sliced my 27th birthday cake, and the pack members applauded and cheered for us.

"May I have this dance with you, my love?" I asked Quincy, extending my open hand to her.

Quincy smiled and accepted my hand, and I pulled her gently toward me and twirled her around to face me.

Looking up at my face, Quincy smiled, as she was tall and elegant. The black stilettos she wore made her height comparable to mine.

"Yes, my Alpha. I will dance with you," Quincy replied with a happy voice, and I held her hands and guided her steps as we danced to the rhythm of the soft music echoing in the hall.

After the music stopped playing, Quincy and I drew our dance to a stop, I leaned next to her and placed a warm kiss on her forehead. The night had fallen. The moon glowed and cast diamond sparkles around the Alpha's mansion.

Turning to face the crowd, I thanked them once more. "Thank you all for coming to my birthday celebration. You can all leave for your homes."

One by one, the distinguished pack members came forward to present their gifts to me before leaving.

As the hall emptied out, my sister, Bailey, walked up to meet me. She wore a dazzling purple dress and a pair of brown shoes. She was tall and slender, a full resemblance to my mother when she was younger.

"Happy birthday, brother. I brought this gift for you," Bailey said, extending a package to me.

"What's in it?" I asked her, and she laughed.

"When you unbox it, you will see it. But for a tip, it's a fortified bracelet to help you find your real mate," she said, and my scowl deepened, as did Quincy's.

Bailey didn't like Quincy, but it wasn't her place to choose a girlfriend for me. I had dated a few beautiful young women before Quincy.

"Bailey, I do not need this," I said, pushing the gift back to my sister.

"Brother, I traveled to the Rock Valley Pack to get this gift for you. Mom needs you, so please, wear it," Bailey said, as she refused to take the gift back. She was hoping that we could find my mate, even though I had lost hope of finding my real mate.

"Fine," I grunted, and Quincy wasn't happy about it, even as Bailey smiled and said, "I have to go. Joy and Jaxon need me," she said, speaking about her twin pups. I smiled and wished her, "Good night. My regards to them. I will come visiting tomorrow."

Steven Edmond, my Gamma and brother-in-law, stepped forward and said, "Enjoy your birthday night, Alpha Xander." He placed his hand over my sister's shoulder, hugging her warmly as he led her away.

After they left, as all the guests had already gone, Quincy turned to face me and asked, "Are you really going to wear this and find your real mate? Do you forget your promise to me just now?"

Shutting my eyes, I thought about my mother, who was feral and unable to recognize us. She was locked up in a cell because she could accidentally kill anyone near her.

"Quincy, trust me, I don't think I have a real mate. But if I don't accept this, Bailey would be sad, and I do not want that," I said, trying to comfort her.

Quincy shook her head. "What if the bracelet is real? What if it helps you find your real mate? What will happen to me?" She pointed at her chest, tears in her eyes.

Shutting my eyes, I declared, "You're my love, and no other woman will take your place in my heart. Not even my real mate. If I find her, I will only accept her for the sake of curing my mother, but she cannot replace you."

Quincy smiled and drew me into a kiss, her lips locking with mine even as her family waited to escort her home.

"I love you, Xander," she whispered after our lips parted.

"I love you more," I told her, my eyes locking with hers.

After that, Quincy turned and walked out of the banquet hall with her parents and her older brother leading her away.

As I stood in the hall, with the guards surrounding the mansion, I pulled the package open that Bailey had given me.

An emerald bracelet was in it. Picking it up, I wore it around my right wrist. "If this will help me find my real mate, so be it. I only need her for Mom." As I turned around, I walked away and went to the prison house to find my mother.

Aurora's POV:My heart was still throbbing faster when I arrived home. The guards were still sleeping. I still cannot believe that Alpha Xander Roland dared to kiss me tonight. His lips still tasted like sweet grapes in my mouth, and I was annoyed at myself for allowing him to kiss me."Get it together, Aurora. I cannot be with him. He's Quincy's boyfriend!" I growled at myself, and I heard the sound of footsteps approaching my door."Aurora!" my father called, and I froze, expecting him to be asleep. I wanted to pretend that I was asleep because I didn't have an explanation for him. Before I could rush to the bed and lie on it, my father threw open the door and appeared in the doorway."Aurora, where are you coming from?" Dad asked me, his voice stern, and I was surprised that he knew I had left the house."Dad… I…" I tried to come up with an excuse as I stood beside my bed, and he scowled. "Didn't I warn you not to leave the house, most especially at night, to try to shift into a wo

Xander's POV:"What's that jasmine smell?" I growled aloud, as I felt drawn to this intoxicating scent.Johnny perceived her scent. It was intoxicating and very addictive, so Johnny took charge of my body before I could react."Mate!" he growled in my head, and I hated that my wolf was the opposite of me.I recalled that I was wearing the emerald bracelet that Bailey had given me, and it glowed greener on my right hand."Damn it!" Even in my wolf form, Johnny was massive. He ran as fast as a deer in search of his mate. When we arrived at the spot, I was shocked to see Aurora hiding behind the grape tree. It was my favorite tree. What the hell is she doing here? I pondered, as my brows furrowed.Annoyed, I shifted back to my human self. Thankfully, I was wearing my black boxers, as I wouldn't be comfortable letting my girlfriend's sister see me náked."Come out from behind the tree," I ordered Aurora, seeing her trying to shield her body with the white dress she held. She was stark nàk

Aurora's POV:"What just happened?" I asked Malani in shock after my father walked out of my room. His words were, "Aurora, do not get annoyed over your sister's comment about having you banished. I will speak to all of them tomorrow morning. Goodnight."My father left my room, gently shutting the door. I knew that apart from my father, my mother had the worst behavior towards me. If I hadn't seen a picture of her when she was pregnant with me, I would have thought that I was adopted and that she was not my real mother.Malani exhaled and said, "I do not know what happened, but I am certain that your sister is troubled over something.""Like what? Why would Quincy order for me to be banished over mere earrings? She just hates me, and this is no ordinary hatred. Is she afraid that I will take the Luna position from her?" I asked Malani, my hand rubbing my jaw as I thought about my sister's behavior."Maybe she is scared about you taking everything from her. After all, you have me, and

Xander's POV:The moonlight bathed the surroundings as I walked to the dungeon to find my mother. The guards bowed and welcomed me upon my arrival. When I arrived at the cage room where my mother was locked up, she was chained around her wrists and ankles. Her blue eyes fluttered awake. Her eyes narrowed with rage at me, not recognizing me as her son."Mom…" I tried calling her, but she was feral, pulling on the chains that bound her in place."Get lost!" She growled at me, not recognizing me as her son."Fine. I will go. But know that today is my 27th birthday. I chose Quincy as my chosen mate," I told her as I stood in front of the cage.Mom looked away. Her white dress was dirty and hadn't been changed for the past two years. If the guards neared her, she would strangle them to death. The sedatives didn't work on calming her down either."I don't have any crazy son. I am childless! I am not the Luna! I am me!" She cried, and I knew she became worse whenever she saw me."Fine. You'r

Aurora's POV:I made my way to my room on the first floor and heard Lola speaking to Linda again in her mocking tone."Wait a minute. Do not tell me that Aurora is now a prophetess. Hahaha!" Lola laughed heartily, and I glanced back as I stood in the corridor leading to my room. Lola was holding her belly. However, I caught sight of the little pup she was carrying, unaware of it.A vision came to me, and I froze as I saw my older brother, Kaleb, fụcking Lola in his room."Damn it, Lola! You're Kaleb's mate!" I growled, and Lola froze as she turned to look at me in horror."How did you know?" Lola asked, looking frightened. I laughed and walked back to the living room to face her."Do you now believe that I am a prophetess? Oh no. Poor pup you're carrying in your womb. Unfortunately, Kaleb is not ready to accept you as his mate. He is fụcking you without commitment and looking for a higher-ranking she-wolf, since you're an Omega like me."I smirked, and the color drained from Lola's f
