Chapter 2

Isla

"Get some new clothes. We'll be having our wedding now." He said, his voice devoid of any emotions.

My eyes widened, I grabbed onto his feet, trying my best to resist. "No. I won't get married to you."

Axel stood frozen, and I soon felt the maids hands on me. They tugged at my legs but I held on, gripping his legs tighter but in just a few minutes, they were able to drag me away.

I crossed my hands over my dress. "I won't change!" I screamed at the top of my voice but they just ignored me.

Two maids pinned me down, and the other pulled my dress down. They pushed me into the bath tub, and after a few more minutes, I saw a cloth hanging at the corner of the shower.

I took a deep breath, there was no use resisting now, I might as well go along with it.

My head stretched to the back of my dress but I couldn't zip it up. "Yuna." I called, still trying. "Can you help me with this?" I asked, and I heard the curtains part.

Her footsteps came closer and I dropped my hand. "Thank you." I muttered.

Yuna helped with the zip but her hand lingered a little longer. "What's wrong?" I asked but she didn't answer, rather her other hand wrapped around my waist and I could feel her hot breath against my neck.

Wait. This wasn't Yuna. This wasn't even a woman.

"Who are you?" My eyes bulged, as I turned sharply to catch Axel staring at me with a grin on his face.

I held onto the rim of the sink, my heart throbbing violently against my chest.

"What are you doing here?" I spoke through gritted teeth. Axel's grin grew larger, he stepped forward, closing the little gap that remained between us.

"Why are you acting like you have seen a ghost? My face shouldn't be that much of a surprise to you." Axel said, staring deep into my eyes.

I turned the other way.

Axel retreated, putting his hands in his pockets. "We'll be getting married in a few minutes, I just wanted to see you a little earlier."

I raised my head, the confidence in his voice leaving me bewildered. I wanted to speak but I held back my words.

"I won't marry you." I muttered under my breath but he actually heard me.

He smiled. "You definitely will." He said before walking out. I finally breathed out a sigh of relief, my hands rested on my chest.

Why was he back now? And with so much hate in eyes? What exactly was he trying to do? The curtains were pulled apart again and these times the maids came in with a veil in their hands.

I shifted back as soon as they came close. I wasn't supposed to marry him but seeing the others coming closer, I grabbed the veil from the maids hands.

The fabric draped over my face, blurring my vision. The maid moved closer, holding my hand for support.

My steps were heavy against the marble floors. I could hear the whispers of my pack members, and even louder ones of his pack.

"Shameless."

"She just marries whoever is presented to her."

My pack members' voices were lower, more hushed, but I still heard them or maybe it was all in my head.

"He killed her father." I didn't hear any more words than that. My hands tightened over the bouquet that was put in my hands.

I really, really, wanted to run, perhaps even try to get revenge but this place was filled with his people. I would be digging my grave.

Axel took my hand as we got to the altar, but his smile didn't reach his ears. He seemed excited, but not the same type of excitement he had when he found out I was his mate years ago.

Now, he looked ready to break me, ruin me, and make my life hell.

I gulped, repeating the vows as I was told, sometimes I paused. This was wrong, I couldn't do this but Axel would nudge me and looking to meet his eyes, I knew very well what he could do.

The ceremony was concluded and I was led back to my room. I pulled off the veil, staring at my reflection in the room.

I was unwilling to marry someone I barely knew but who knew Axel would spawn out of nowhere and marry me.

The man I had once wished I would marry was the one who killed my father.

My hands tightened around the table.

No.

I couldn't accept my fate.

My eyes scanned the room, and I grabbed the most useful thing I could find. I would never let him mark me.

I returned to the bed, my hands hidden at my back, the scissors held strongly in my hands. I closed my eyes, praying he would not come but the door burst open either way and he came in.

Axel moved closer, not saying a single word, he leaned forward but before he could do anything, I raised the scissors at him in a sorry attempt to stab him.

My eyes were shut tight, I was too scared to look. Would I really kill him?

I opened my eyes slowly, and the sight before my eyes made my heart skip a beat. He held the scissors in his hands, blood dripping from his hands as he stared at me.

A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "I knew you would never submit so easily." He commented, pulling the scissors out of my head.

I shifted backwards, taking heavy breaths as I watched him throw the scissors away, ignoring his bleeding hand like it was nothing.

This wasn't the Axel from ten years ago, the one who would take care of any injury he got just because I wouldn't want him scarred. The Axel before my eyes didn't care about me anymore nor his wounds.

Axel turned back to me and I swallowed hard, retreating backwards. I shook my head violently as he leaned closely.

"Don't come closer.”
