Chapter 22: Is He Dead?

Making it back to the doctor's in record time, the first thing he asks before getting him out is, "Is He Dead?" 

When I say, "I don't think so." He hurriedly opens the car door and carefully checks him over before removing him.  

For the next several hours while the doctor operates, everyone stands around not knowing what to do.  One of the senior beta's walk up to me and expresses his concerns.  He says, "If he dies, there will be a huge fight and you had better leave unless you are strong enough to stand your ground.  Usually when another Alpha gains control, he either takes the luna for his own or more likely kills her.  I have even seen where he banishes her from the pack for fear that she would create dissension among the remaining pack members."
